Being Furry,residual memories/totemic connections?
« on: March 21, 2004, 11:38:21 pm »
Ok for my 2nd post I go deep... anyone else know  just why we feel such furry connections? I am native, I have also learned some shamanistic aspects. I think this is why I feel this. Horse is my Totem and if theres such as past lives I was one in my last one. Even have a dream about it. just one Equine furry's idea.

well, I have always belived that when you are dreaming your spirit is wandering the astral planes. So when my better half found me and decided I was his I just knew that it was but I have always looked at the world in a weird light, that may be why I found you all

Good question. Strange that the whole furry "feeling" seems to come to only a few of us that already have some pretty strange qualities already. The alternative crowd, mostly.

But, I agree with Jybian on some level. I consider myself and astral realm mix-up. A spiritual blunder, really. Human body, vulpine soul. I dont know if that makes me automatically part of the Were community, but it's what I believe. I think there are lots of people like me... Y'know, not necessarily just fans of animals, but something much, much deeper.

Holy crap, I'M getting philosophical. >_>; This is weird.

I agree with Nok. If its true then the deams I have are right. But if so then why did I 'choose ' human. The one I trusted in the dream left. I could go really deep in to that aspect. Its really strange to watch horses running somewhere and  feeling sad I can join in.

Doesnt think is just one right answer. But for most theres probably some connection to that animal part of self that makes one kin to the rest of animal world. Yeah, sees 4ft'd brothers & sisters as peeps too. Perhaps some where other animal in past life. Like in the trying other form for a change. Some might be accidntaly in wrong body. Stork got drunk and delivered cat to human or donkey or wolf mom. Ooops! Lol.

Perhaps theres a deeper thing too. Maybe some jus have more of that fluff & plush in their soul then others.

I have a really strong connection with animals too. But its more than just liking them. I understand them(no i dont mean i can talk to them '<img'> ) And they seem to understand me as well, They feel more like family then just friends.

Alot of the time im an animal or a furry in my dreams, I dont know if that has anything to do with it or not though. Also i have always felt like an animal at heart. I really dont know what it all means. Im just confused by the whole thing.

When  I look at a dog or wolf and know what they'r thinking, or run through the woods at night, or feel the strong umpulse to howl at the moon on a clear winter night, or the sense of pride and well being after taking a kill, I dunno, I just think there is something more than just liking wolves a lot.

I know exactly how it is. I know what a horses says, the look of his eye, the position of his body, the motions of his ears. A horse will tell you what hes going to do. One poor guy in a horse club I was in learned this after ignoreing what his horse kept telling him. "that Pinches" She got all figetty swishing her tail darting eyes ears and snapping her head around as he saddled her. I told him "shes fixing to bite you if you dont quit tightening her girth like that" What do you know he said to me. I told him she was screaming at him to quit. He told me to mind my own business. She bite him in such a way he wore the bruises for a long time .
I use that language anytime I meet a new horse and much to the owners surprise never been bitten with the greeting exchange(nose touch/breath exchange).

I have a similar connection with most cats savaaha. I actually have 2 theories Nok, one is that we WERE anthro in a past life and did something very very bad and got stuck as humans. Or we chose to be humans after getting bored wandering the astral planes, either one makes sense to me but if the first one is right I want to know just what warrants being stuck in a human body? ''

Hm. I could blab forever on this topic. =P Any theory I DO have isnt really supported by anything, and none of it Im sure of. But I dont think any of us are, so, yeah. XP

Gah. Sticky shift key.

Really, I have dont have one SPECIFIC theory... Just a bunch of ideas that kinda make sense. I havent really put them together, yet.

And Jybian, Im not really seein' eye to eye with you on that last post. =/ Oh, well, whatever blows your skirt up, right? =P *Pets on Jybian, and throws a few random scritches in there, too.*

But, whatever it is that makes us feel "furry," whether a simple love for all animals, a need to be something other than the shameful human, or something bigger and more meaningful, I love it. ^_^ And I'm keepin' it. I'M A PROUD FREAK. X3  '<img'>

Im not really into the idea of being anthro in a past life either. I think it has more to do with once being a 4 legged. Hopefully when this human life is over I can be a 4 legged again.

Maby we yern for the freedom that they have no drab life of taxes bills 24 hr jobs stress banks ect ect a life more simpe and free from all of that would be nice so mabyt its a connection to what we would most like to be if we wern't doing all that other stuff. Maby it is to do with a past life maby its to do with dreams many say your totem picks you so maby there is an spirit looking after you . So many answers and not a clue to which if any are right or wrong like most things think it may boil down to personal belif n taste.

*Mrrrrs with contentment under Jybian's scritches, and pets back some.* :3

Now Bear Paw, I WOULD love that. I mean, I'm only fifteen, so I dont exactly have to DEAL with a lot of that stuff... But still. That would be a lot better than this... HUMAN bullshit that we all have to deal with. But I dont think it has any connection to MY personal feeling of "furriness." Hey, it might be with you, Bear Paw, I dunno, but not really, for me. (Have, you, noticed, I, really, like, commas?)

I really like this thread. ^^; ...It makes me sound like I know what Im talking about. =P Well, sort of. o_O (Not only a comma after every other word, but an emoticon after every sentence! Wewt for AIM typing habits. XP)

But, back on topic...

I'm not really quite sure what y'all mean when you keep talking about totems. =/ Is that some sort of guardian spirit, or something? Seems to be particularly animals, as well, and this IS a furry forum, so I'm sure that ties in somehow...

Bear Paw, I can agree with you on that fact. We DONT know, and we may never. Until science advances, well... beyond the physical plane, then I dont think we'll figure it out while we're still alive. But until then Im havin' fun with my furriness. ^^; ...Hell, even AFTER then, Ill have fun with my furriness. :3

Y'know, being a furry may just be a psychological defect. =P With a combination of other things, of course... Such a love for the other animals that one wants to connect with them on a much deeper level... That could be part of it.

It is  a personal thing your furry side as is your species and why you feel that way. I see mine as a kind of Totem of sorts but for others completely diffrent . To be honest though not to sure if I want to know why I feel this way hehe too much fun finding out and the answer you get might not be the one you like n want to hear or it may be *shrugs* still intresting to have the question pitched . Alows for some intresting and mind expanding replies like we got here already  '<img'>

How true, Bear Paw. ^^; *Petpet.*

*Swishes his tail to assert his fuzziness.*

Well, whatever it is, Im feelin' it, and to see that so many others feel the same way I do about something so strange... That's just gives me that warm, well, furry feeling all over! :3

I feal a sence of destiny and purpose about it.
I don't feal so much like I was animal in the past...more like I was ment to be furry. It's just what I was Intended to become. Why and by who is beyond me.
I'm really hoping to be full anthro wolf in the afterlife, whatever the afterlife turns out to be like.
Maybe I'm being "Prepared" for some furture life elsewhere in full anthro form.

I think I imprinted on some of my stuffed animals when I was a cub or something. It's the only explaination I can think of,I don't believe in animal spirit guides,or at least I don't believe I personally have them and my relationship with most animals is average at best. But I've loved stuffed animals for as long as I can remember.I think the whole reason I like furry characters is that they remind me of stuffies I had as a kid.

Ive learned in the last couple of weeks that there are as many reasons than make us Furry as there are different species of Furry. And that as with the species, boundries are often merged together.
Before finding furtopia Ive only shared such feelings with others in the totemic beliefs. Maybe my particular furriness is a rarity here, Thats why I started this topic, to find out that.
As for stuffies '<img'> I own quite a few of them myself and of them a centaur Filly is my favorite. Shes my own work since I knew of no one who sold one. I also own almost 200 model Equines from 3-12" tall.
