Out of curiosity (forgive me as this topic was probably already done but I don't like bringing dead topics back), for furs still in school, how outward are you about it? Is it bleeding obvious or do you hide it? Or do you have a school with freakishly strict dress codes that forbid you to wear tails/collars/ears/yada yada yada?

I, myself, am in grade 10 and go to a school with virtually no dress code. I wear my spiked collar every day, but that doesn't say much about my furryness cuz I dress liek the metal freak I am, so no one really notices the differance when I'm dressed all in black with arm bands and chains all the time. I have no tail (I don't need one right now anyways) so I don't wear one, but I can't bring myself *yet* to wear my dog tag with Spike and my phone # engraved on it. That will change tho, eventually...^^;

Well, I'm in Uni, but it's still full time education right? ':p' Anyways, I'm introverted with my furriness. Sometimes I'll wear a collar in my room or "act" furry to show emotions such as pleasure and anger out of pure instinct, but I keep it largely to myself
its the oddest thing. I really didnt see this coming! We had dinner and talked about going over to his mother's house on Sunday and about getting a puppy. I thought things were getting serious. Then I wake up on Thursday and hes not here! just like that - gone! I asked some of his buddies in the system 32 folder but they didnt know what happened. I just dont understand.........

I'm in 8th grade... I ocasionnally wear ears ( kitty ones though, I need to get bunny ones. ). I say " Mnyaa! " quite a bit, I draw anthros all over the place, and I nuzzle and cuddle people...

I'm a HS senior now, this year and last I'd just kinda randomly wear my tail some days.  Of course I found myself providing explainations to many a curious observer, but they all found it entertaining ^^  Come halloween I deck out with Tail, Paws, Ears and a Leash.  And of course I only take off my collar when I shower, there's laws ya'know.

I am quite vocal about my furryness. (Heck, I AM visiting Furtopia from school right now, and I have a curious observer peering over my sholder every now and then. ^_^)

People ask me about my collar and I tell them proudly, I am a furry! And of cource, I get laughed at, but its part of the terratory.

I dont have a tail yet, though I would like to make mine soon. If I could wear my hindpaws to school, I would in a heartbeat, but sadly, I have worn a hole in them. But yes, I am a furry, and everyone knows it. I dont care what they say, its who I am and what I am. And y'know what? Im proud. ^_^

We have a strict dress code and a band on physical contact among students unless it's necessary. So it's kind ahard to be open about it but I do wear my little heart shaped pet tag with 'If found please hug' on it..the it's technicaly against the rules now. I have a tendancy to paint pawprint on my nails but even thats pushing the rules as thier supposed to be a single uniform colour without decortation.
Our school has become uber strict about showing yourself to be an indavidual because, to qute a teacher, "Indaviduality is something you practise when your younger with your firends then move on to perfect it at college. At high school you're supposed to be a clone, it cuts down on the level of distractions"

Feel free to beat her..We'll help.

No I go to a non-dominational, christian biased, multi-racial school which prides it's self on the diversity of it's students....

..something about that entire description seems wrong to me...

I s'pose I do growl when I'm pissed off, not through any concious effort of mine, it's just natural to me (what can I say, I have a deep voice). I'm still working on coming out to my parents about my homosexuality, and I doubt I'll ever tell them I like to read and write about anthropomorphic animals, as they'd just worry even more about me. Plus if I told anyone at school I'd catch even more flak than I do now, and my school's dress code, while not enforcing a uniform, basically makes you wear a business suit (which look good on me, by the way).

By the way, please feel free to send everyone on here the address of that teacher so we can make a collective spamming effort against her. God... if any of my teachers said that to me (they wouldn't, as Winchester has a very long tradition of producing talented eccentrics, some of whom then come back and teach here) I'd walk out of the class after painting a huge pride flag on the ceiling.

I was invisable. I had liked furry art and stuff before I knew what it was. Then I read the Penny Arcade comic and newspost about the negative stigma torwards the fandom. I looked into the fandom and knew I liked it. Unfortunately, I also learned more about stigma, so I was quiet about it and never said anything about it to anyone, let alone my school.
With much thought, deliberation, warmth, and friendliness, and a desire to educate the ignorant, protect the good, and reveal the truth, I will sign out

Sounds a lot like my school... ':p'

I'm quite open about my furriness. Everyone I talk to and their friend either knows I'm a fur or knows I'm obsessed with furry things and just doesn't know what to call it. Naturally, I get a lot of unnecessary crap from some people about it, but eh, who cares. ':p' What's neat is that a ton of people have started calling me Kabaka. I'm still waiting for one of my teachers to pick up on it....

As for wearing things, I'm pretty sure the dress code would disallow any tails by calling it a safety risk. Ears are probably out, too, since they're distracting and could be considered head gear, which, aside from something in your hair, isn't allowed. I'd have to ask... But I'm far too shy to confront the administration with a question like that...  ':p'

I go to a crappy community college. I'm pretty quiet about being furry here, though I do go to furry sites while on break during class like I am right now. People know I love to draw animals and I usually wear a tshirt with some sort of animal or my art on it, so...mowr.

*nod* I hope that Peaches has my tail and ears to me October 31, cuz they're having a big halloween costume thing here and that'd be the perfect excuse to wear them^^ Tail would probly make it hard to sit in class though =p

I was thinking about doing that here. I know on holidays they tend to be more loose with the dress code here... It's a good excuse anyway. ':p'

Well, I can say that I kind of let my furry-esque feelings show.

I display the urge to snuggle and cuddle with my best friend (and his cats), I snuggle people in general, and I still wear my collar and tail every now and then. (I should have gotten a black collar, though. This tan / green one doesn't go with everything I wear. '<img'> Oh well, eh?) Even though there is a dress code, it's not really enforced unless clothing articles are gang related. :P Lucky me.

I have done a newspaper article about it (and another one is coming up). That's about as much as I can say.

I wore my collar for the last year and a half of high school. Now that I'm in college though, I haven't been able to convince myself to put it on. I love wearing it though. *shrugs* That doesn't make any sense even to me.

It probably is more accepting. Really the only reason I haven't started wearing it again is because eveyone has already seen me without it, and it'd be weird to suddenly be wearing it.

I'm quite open about my furriness. I go on Furtopia during Computer class, I growl, bark, yip..pretty much what I do out of school. We have a strict dress code, so I don't know about wearing my tail. But I would so wear my collars..if I could find them. >.<
