Such a fun game! The only drawback I can see is that it's single player is somewhat limited. As far as party games go, however, SSBM cannot be beaten!

Finally beat 51..

I used Jigglypuff's Down & B move to take out Giga; as for Ganondorf and Mewtwo, I grabbed a Star Rod and smashed till I got blue in the fur. I worked though.

I used Princess Peach, floating around above them, waiting for a good weapon to drop.

Unfortunately I do...and everyone else on my block. It was something I actually didn't want exploited in my area. Now everybody does it. Not much choice. It was either learn the same cheap tricks or get whooped constantly. Luigi players earned a lot of hate over it.

I guess what I'm saying is wavedashing is an essential technique if you want to really own at this game....but it's not a great way to keep friends playing with you.

I never WD in friendly play. I even find it fun to take out a wavedasher without WDing myself. I love hearing them go "what the heck".

Wavedashing?

Basically, you jump; but before the jump actually happens, you air dodge into the ground (Press the R button, tilt the joystick diagonally down left or right)

It's kinda tricky to nail it right away. If you have Final Destination as a playable map, you should practice it there.

I do, but I actually dont use it when I play with my friends. I think the game is alot better without all these 'advanced techniques'.

Besides, its only good if you can fit it in your strategy, and if you can do it consistently.

I Love SSBM! It is second to Starfox in my collection. My skills are less than what they used to be, as no one wants to play me, as I can easily beat them. My favorite character is Fox, speed rules all, all but the 2 hands and very small stages. second favorite is Link. I am wondering who knows Luigi's "Rocket blast"? Pikachu and Pichu can do it also. In the book it is called "skull bash" but if you time it right and smash the stick, instant K'O if you hit anyone, though watch out, as it will send you flying off the other side of the stage if aimed wrong.  ''

Luigi's 'rocket blast' misfire appears randomly, there is no way you can affect it.

I think this game became my all time favorite.  Me and my friend usually get together on saturdays and play it for hours.  We've gotten really good, learning some advanced techniques, but can't really go to any tournaments, though we want to.

I use Luigi, Ness, Samus, Link, Yoshi, Falco, Bowser.

I do play as the rest of them, but I mostly use these guys.
