Title: Question...
Post by: Hyger on December 02, 2009, 09:17:02 am
If this isn't the right place, let me know.

I want to start learning website design and HTML. Where do I start?

I know this is probably going to sound like a weird place to recommend, but when I first started on HTML I found Neopets beginner's guide to be the most understandable. They just explained it so well in layman's terms, so if you know absolutely nothing of HTML I think this is the best place to go to begin:

http://www.neopets.com/help/html1.phtml

Once you get a little further along and want to work on more complicated ideas, here are a few of my favorite places with guides and tutorials:

http://www.echoecho.com/school.htm
http://www.w3schools.com/html/default.asp

Also, here's a pretty good list of a bunch of codes that may be useful to you:

I'm not some super genius with HTML myself, but I did find it immensely fun to learn what little I did. I hope you have fun too! Good luck.

I second the Neopets HTML tutorial.  I remember it from when I first learned HTML, and it explained the basic concepts of HTML effectively and concisely.  It's the perfect place to start learning HTML.
