This was my VERY first attempt at using acrylic paints! I love them!

This is of a friend of ours from England, DarkClaw. He is a wolfy and I wanted to show him playing with a ball.

Looks good, Kada.
I worked with acrylics a fair bit during high school and university. It's a great medium that's fun to work with. The only problem is that it can get rather expensive rather quickly. Working on a proper canvas is definitely not cheap. '<img'>

I like acrylics, (used them for my art exam, got a B  '<img'>  ) They are fantastic for textures and just give a piece a nice edge.

Yes. It does have texture which is really cool. I can make the strokes smooth or make it look tectured with how I use the brush. I also like how I can 'fix' errors. (giggles) And still have it look great when done and no one will ever know the difference! '<img'> Unless of course I tell on myself. (giggles)

Nice going Kada! Was it much harder than your other mediums?

Actually it was easier than I thought, Sumarra. If I make a mistake I just wait for the paint to dry and paint over it! I like it better then the pencils because I can do so much more to the pic! Like the streaking of the fur or grass or what ever and finding what different brushes do and don't do. I am truly loving using the acrylics!

I can make a tree or trunk or grass look more 'real' than I could with the pencils. I'm still learning so I can't wait to see what I will be doing with them come next year! (LOL)

Rushjunkie, not in acrylics though I do have a character I created of a kitsune (6 tail) wizard that I want to use again and with the acrylics. He is a prankster. (giggles)

This is the second colorized version of "Chimera Soul". I like this one much better!

But, I just finished recoloring it, again. (giggles) I like this one better. I'm not going to redo it again!  '<img'>

Can I make one small comment? While the shading is better in the third version, the mane seems abit flat. Then again it could just be the monitor I'm using, great pic though!

I think I have to agree with you, BTD. Though in the original it looks shaded I might have to add some slight highlights to get the mane to stand out more. Thanks for the comment!

AGH!  Acrylics, my mortal enemy!  You did a nice job with them, but they seem to hate me.  I prefer watercolors to any other paint.  Oils aren't bad either, as long as I have plenty of Q-tips on hand and a lot of time to let it dry.  '<img'>

Anyways, nice job on your first acrylic painting.  I'm actually impressed because it turned out very well for a first.  The pict of Chimera is awesome as well, though I like the mane shading on the top pict a bit better.

(giggles) where as I am enjoying the acrylics and tried water colors once but didn't like the result. Not ready to try oils yet. I want to get better at these acrylics first. (LOL)

Yes, I was a bit surprised how well the first one turned out never having used acrylics before. They like me I guess!  '<img'>

Yes, in a few days I will try highlighting the mane again so it doesn't look so flat.

(giggles) Well, Furtopia does have a colored star rating system on the furtopia websites, if that is like what you mean. (smiles)

All of your art looks great... I love the brushstrokes you used with the acrylic painting... The highlights on the fur look great...
Painting with acrylics is great... I've done some of my best work in acrylics... The way acrylic paint dries and textures is cool...

Thank you for the comments, Kiyoshi!

I did find one draw back using them and I will begin working with the acrylics again after AC. I need to figure out how to do the fine detailing of some of the characters. So, for now, the rest of my pieces will be finished with the markers and pencils. (smiles)

I like the vividness of the markers and the fine detailing I can get with the pencils. Now, to learn how to do both with the acrylics! (smiles)
