New Look, New Domain
« on: September 29, 2005, 12:35:42 pm »
Well, I bought a second domain.  This one is meant to be a more professional looking site for my college portfolio, but I like the look so much, that I might make gryphonheartstudios.com a mirror site.

Take a look at what I've got so far (most noticably, the front page since I'm still deciding what I want to put there) and tell me what you think.  A lot of it isn't finished, yet.  If you say anything wrong with the site, let me know.

TraciVermeesch.com

Things to work on next:  Possibly change the color scheme, Finish the front page, create more character sheets for my character page, Finish the pages I haven't finished yet, squash bugs.

If the table looks familiar, it should.  I used the same table layout that Furtopia uses.

Looks really good, but the name/logo on the top are a bit on the darkside for my eyes and seem to hide from the brighter text below. The page text is very easy to read with the color scheme you chose  '<img'>
"I'm no longer active here but those wishing to contact me can thru e-mail or my LJ. Please note that I cannot receive or respond to PM's sent thru Furtopia."

I'm actually thinking about changing the color scheme to orange on black.  I'm not sure if I'm going to since I proposed that color scheme for artists world, and I don't want it to look exactly the same if it gets chosen.

Thanks for pointing out the logo.  It looks fine on my computer, but I use a laptop that likes to brigthen up the colors  quite a bit.  I'll see what I can do with that.

The the gradient background for "Welcome to TraciVermeesch.com" might look better reverced so there is a jump from the gallary box.

Also the background to the logo is slightly off black and is just noticable on the pure black background.

I'll try to revise the logo sometime this weekend.

In the meantime, I added the College Portfolio

I have a few more images that I wish to add to it, but I need to get good pictures of them first.  This is probably the most important page of the site, so feel free to knit pick.

A nice clean page, I like that. '<img'>  Some bits are dark, but not too dark on my monitor.

The menu items should have some sort of separation, like a bullet or a background when you hover the mouse. For example, on my screen, part of the menu looks like this:

  Cafepress
  Furbid
  How to Draw
  Books

I was hoping for a tutorial section when I clicked "How to Draw". '<img'>

The descriptions in the College Portfolio don't work in Firefox; you'll have to use the title attribute there.

Aye. The ALT Atribte is for adding what you want to go there when the pic isn't loaded.

I noticed that some of the sidebars use the gradient for their outline; others have a solid color.  I don't know whether this was a mistake or to give us an idea what both look like so we could say which one we like better.  Either way, I think the solid color ones look way better.

All right.  Finally got a chance to do some updating.  It still needs a bit of work, though...

... but in my last update I:

1.  Changed the color scheme
2.  Added some more pages
3.  Lightened up the logo a bit
4.  Fixed the friggin' sidebar.
