Very well put. I am sure there are a lot of folks in the fandom that aren't really any animal persay as you said. But, as you also stated, the furrydom seems to be a very accepting group of folks! I felt that when I went to my very first con. I loved it! and I have been hooked ever since! '<img'>

Quote (ayame28 @ Mar. 04 2003, 2:24 pm)
Hmmm.  I know I'm not a lifestyler.  The thing about me, is that my character is an avatar for me, or a symbol, nothing more.  I don't feel furry or have a furry spirituality.  I am not a particular species: Ayame as a character is a certain species, because the Chinese Dragon means something to me symbolically.

The other thing is,  I love animals and I love people.  Furries are some of the most accepting people out there.  It is good to be around that kind of acceptance sometimes.  '<img'>

Since I love both animals and people, I suppose it's natural to make furry art, as in my opinion, it combines the best of both worlds.  '<img'>

And I think that's fine.  I'm not a furry at all, I am my own Dragon.  I discovered it all on my own - no furriness involved, but why am I here now?  For the same reason as you; furs are such an accepting, and open-minded type of people (general term).  And although I feel out of place in one way, I feel like I fit right in in other ways, like because furs are so friendly.  I could also go on to say about furs that are animals in spirit, and have a special bond with a certain type of animal, and comparing those that seem to have no connection with animals at all, apart from just liking them.  Though, this again is a grey area, as every individual is different, and have different feelings, and I've just gone right off topic, so I'll stop now, before I get bricks thrown at me.

Edit - No, I wasn't going off topic there after all; I was going on to talk about what Kada-ru picked up on in her response to Ayame's post.  Bleh, I confuse myself too much sometimes.

Well, I am somewhat of a lifestyler. Granted, I don't walk around in fursuit or anything, but my personal spirituality is deeply rooted in animals and shaministic ways. I guess that is what brought me to my current leonine alter-ego, heh.

I consider myself a lifestyler.  I oftentimes feel like a fox and act like one too.  If you poke me, I stometimes make foxy yips.  And I make no effort to hide my furryness.

I'd most definitely consider myself a lifestyler. Even before I discovered my furriness, it's been a big part of my life. I wear my ears most places unless I need a hat for whatever reason. I'm very open about my furriness.

I'd probably be considered a lifestyler.  Although long walks or hikes and being with other furrys definantly brings out thw wolf in me.  I just got back from a camping trip and I think I scared some of the guys in my patrol.   They don't know that I'm a fur and they were creaped out a bit when I started howling.  ( such a beautiful moon...)  I don't realy show it in public other than walking bare foot all over.

I'm hesitant to get back into the spiritual aspects of Furriness. If you've read the post I made on Furry spirituality you'll know why.
I collect teddy bears, and they are the basis for my furry self.I strongly believe that each of my bears posesses a spirit of their own.I think all things do but I seem to be more in tune to bears than I am other things. There are times I could almost swear I can sense what each bear is thinking or feeling. As I once said in my Blog,I realize this could just be my imagination but I'm not willing to take that chance.Anyway this is about as spiritual as I get.
