The origins of the Name Trance, may not be what you think. infact the name Trance has no real connection to the music, but rather when i first went into high school i was a big day dreamer. i would sit in class, head in my hand stairing off into space. the teacher would say my name like 6 times to get my attention. she said it was like i was in a Trance. so my friends from then on just called me Trance. and since when i day dreamed it was mostly about furries, it seemed rather logical to name my Fursona Trance

Kasarn was derived from the random name generator in Everquest, which chunked out Kasrn. It's abbreviated form is Kaz, not Kas.
Deauralius was the surname for my first serious EverQuest character, Xakik, and was originally going to be D'Auralius, but EQ is nitpicky about which ' you use and I couldn't be bothered figuring it out. As a note, I don't play EQ anymore.
Cyrin Balain
Cyrin came from Cyril. Balain was just random in my head.
His nickname is Seer; it's convenient and also ironic because in character he has no natural magical abilties and oft does things without thinking too hard.
James Dingo
James is my RL name and Dingo is what he is. Thus James Dingo
At one stage, I was going to give him a proper last name, but that'll probably never happen.

A, B, and E are just my initials. But a while ago, I said to myself that I should make it a nickname sometime. So I planned on doing it in college, but now everyone know's me fairly well as Austin, so that fell through. :P
So I started using it in online communities, including this one.
The 12 is kind of a lucky number, but a bit more. My birthday is in December (12 month), on the 12th day, and I was born 5 minutes away from 12:00 pm.

Obviously it'd be way too spammy for me to go into detail on all of them, but I wanted to give some quickies on a few, I would be happy to go into more detail if anyone is very bored and curious. ;p
Chibiabos - He's become my main OOC furry fursona. He's a wolf (duh! if you couldn't tell from my avatar) taken from Algonquin legend (Algonquin is a family of Native American tribes all over the Great Plains extending far to the present-day southeastern U.S.) for whom Chibiabos was a wolf who had drowned in a lake and rose to become lord of the spirit realm. I first used the name on Thunder Trails MUSH as my admin character (which is why I wanted a god name ;p).
Ironhoof - I wanted a simple descriptor. What part of her did I want most well-known? Her hooves. What did I want them known for? Strength and resolve. I could have come up with "Granitehoof" or "Diamondhoof" or somesuch, I suppose ... I just thought "Ironhoof" had a nice, rusty ring to it. ;p
Klondike - I briefly looked after a sweet wolf/malamute mix named Yukon and for the few short weeks he and I were together, he never ceased to amaze me with the tremendous amounts of love in his heart despite a bad situation he and I were in together. I started using the name Klondike in honor of him. Klondike has actually been several characters for me, all wolves but each with distinctive character backgrounds, personalities, etc.
Fortivirago - I took a couple latin words and mangled them together. I forget what words they were exactly, I think they were "strong" and "warrior."

Okay, so the story of my name!
Arbutus started out as a role-playing character way back in 2001 (ANCIENT HISTORY!)-- he was a rabbit on a Watership Down RPG called The Honeycomb. The male rabbits in Watership Down are largely named after plants, and since there were many plant-names that were used in Watership Down and many MANY more already in use on the RPG, I figured my best bet would be to find something obscure. So I hit up my mom's old naturalist guides.
About halfway through the first book, I happened upon this one plant, a small white flower named the trailing arbutus. And something just... clicked. It was a properly obscure plant, it was a really cool word, and the description given in the book actually matched some of my character's attributes rather closely... but more than that, the name was just me. I went searching through the entire rest of the book looking for alternate names, but in the back of my head I knew it was a waste of time. Although I had no idea what a fursona was back then, I had just found mine.
To complete the story, IC Arbutus and OOC me slowly began to merge, I began using the name everywhere I went online, and later on when I found furry, there was absolutely no question as to who I would be.

"Taela "Dragonfox" Tavington" is a shapeshifter in an X-Men RPG I frequent. She uses DF as a preferred form.
Most of the names come from names I've heard. 'Taela' being a spelling-change of 'Tayla' from a baby book. 'Tavington' came from the movie The Patriot. (The full name being "Taela Arwyn Tavington"- middle name from a comic, rather than LOTR)
Dragonfox, obviously, came from her species. Originally called her Foxdragon, but decided that it made her sound more like a fox-like dragon than a dragon-like fox.

Then when I became a furry I decided I had to be a lion cause, I feel most like a lion. They eat a lot, they are heavy and muscular, they can be anti-social and impatient with people at times, but other times they want to be around their own kind and get scritches behind the ear.
Plus the association with knights and kings hit a special cord with me. I have a proud ancestory of English nobility, and I dig knights... So it was that I made my furry character a lion knight.The name Enumclaw I chose because it's the name of a nearby town, but the town is named after the Chinook god of thunder. Since I'm from Seattle I felt it appropriate to mix a little of the Pacific North West into my character. And the Claw at the end just sounds right.

Techno Folf (My last Fursona)'s name was dirived simply for my love of techno music and the fact that he was a folf.
Jason (My current fursona)'s name just pop out of thin air, and it seemed to fit him. An intresting coincedence his name is the same as my brother's(who is not a fur) RP Persona.

My avatar/fursona was originally named "Felatrrans," which comes from my original idea for my fursona: a cat/coyote chimera, mashing the species names Felis silvestris and Canis latrans. The extra "r" was thrown in to give it a bit of a purring sound with a rolling "r". However, I've taken to mentally calling him "Felt" for sake of simplicity.

Phelan's an Irish name, one I actually got out of a book.
(I forgot exactly which book, but I know it was one...)
The name stuck, because the character really made me take a look at who I was and where I was going.
The name's been synonymous with my RL name since then, long before I got hooked on furry.
Naturally, as soon as I needed a name for a persona, I needed something unique.
It was easy enough from there, though the surname is a misnomer.
I'm not a hawk, but rather a falcon; "Hawk" is just easier to articulate with another "F" syllable.
It actually took something like two years for me to settle on the animal, but I haven't been able to make myself change since (nor have I wanted to).

Once upon a time, there was a wonderful girl named Cindy who said, "I have a fursona yet no name for my fursona, and this makes me very sad." So this girl walked up to her coworker/friend and said, "You! You are a creative person! You should help me come up with a name for a furry character. Please?" The coworker/friend said, "Oooh, you're furry. Neat. Okay, let me think." So the two brainstormed several really awesome names. The name Tag seemed to stick out. I've been drawing animals since roughly my 4th grade year of school and they have always been my passion. My favorites were always the deer and antelope because to me they were the underdogs. Whenever I watched any nature video or documentry if there was any appearance of anteopes, one was going to die! I know that lions hunt for food and stuff but the videos made us hoofies seem like our sole existance was to be eaten, which I think is an incredibly shallow view... in the words of Far Raptor... *stomps ground* "how RUDE of them!"
Then there is the wonderfull experience in growing up in, for lack of better term, redneck country. Nothing against them of course, but you know they like hunting hehe and most mistakenly think I'm a deer... though I like deer as much as antelopes. So with the combination of "antelopes are lion food" and "deer are rifle fodder" we come to the ultimate conclusion - we are the underdog, and the underdog strangly appeals to me. Think Spider Man, everyone likes him because he has his flaws that we can relate to. That's what I think of impalas. Impalas have to be against the odds of survival, there's always the danger of being eaten but you must take it head on because being eaten is just not an option ain't it?
Whew now the name lol, having already been associating myself with an impala someone from a Christian chatroom and I once discussed yet another issue about the afterlife. We concluded that we should be allowed to choose an alternative species if we wanted.
I had my natural choice and she said she would like to be a wolf... maybe a furry too but we both didn't seem to know about the lifestyle yet. We gave each other nicknames, my real name is Ricky or Richard, take that "R" from that and put it in front of "impala" and volla! It wan't that hard was it? One more thing, I was also known to log on to chatrooms as Ricky the Elk, which was more as a name I came up with since I like elk too. But Rimpala has always been the alter ego

There is no reason why I chose Unkempt, except that it sounded cool at the time. And with the all the shortenings of it (UK, Kempty, Unk), and how they can be used, has only proven to me that it was the absolute right choice. You can say that about many of my decisions involving the fandom. Made on the fly, but turns out to be the best thing I could've chosen.
Now, Unkempt's "true" name, Aaron Trundiel, is a different story. Trundiel is the family name I created from the word turndial, and it's shared as a last name of a royal family throughout one of my stories. Unkempt is the main character of the story and is the last of the line. How I got Aaron is because my alias is "A. Furry Mcfur". The A had to stand for something, and I plan on using Alex in real life, hence, Aaron.

The title TigeyYigey was given to me by my good friend FuzzlePup.
I chose a tiger because I love them. I'm doing what I can to help protect this endangered species. Tigers are a big part of my life. The Amur tiger is the biggest of all the sub-species. So me being a pretty big person, thought that would be the best choice. Tigers are solitary, as am I. I was also told from a friend that the fur coat of an Amur goes better with my personality. So uh.....yeah. Tis me!

Catsmouth was the name of a city in a D&D game I ran once. It was a port city at the mouth of the Cat River. The founding settlers took the name, and then the city did too. (I find it interesting that in any city named after a settler, the number of people with that name is high. Makes sense...)

I'm also curious, how you all would pronounce 'Meikko'. The spelling is 'incorrect', it would be pronounced 'Mee Ko' if it were spelled correctly. Meikko, I think would be either 'May Ko' or 'My Ko'
Something I found out later, from my brother who took... I believe it was Japanese, was that 'mei' meant 'knitted' and 'kko' was something along the lines of 'japanese theater actor'.
It was.... odd.

As for my umbreon character's name "Ringo" I was creating him as a character for a game of Baldur's Gate II several years ago and got stuck at the name entry field and I sat in thought for several minutes, stumped for an appropriate name for an umbreon. Then suddenly it hit me: Ringo. And the rest is history.

I think taken names are more important than given names. Given names, well, they reflect our parents, but that's about it. Our parents have no way of knowing who we are when they give our names. Unless you buy into mystical clarvoyant parent powers, which would make it really hard for me to have gotten away with the stuff I did around my parents.
I chose the name Pandora simply because I really identify with the character from the Prometheus story. It's almost uncanny even. She opened the box that's certain and released what people said was evil, and also released hope. It's complicated, but in the end I think opening that box is just what we need, all of us. So I'm looking for my box. That pretty much describes in sum total my doomed life goal.

Xianca Delaunay no Montreve- Well i came across my first orca was an artist named Chalo-san. He did great work and i loved his character "Xeanica". I thought of a name for my own Orca and Xianca just came up. Since she was raised in the philippines, she had to have a weird last name and the name from the book "Kushiels Dart" sprung to me. I thought that name is majestic and makes her look cool.

the character was named after a nickname of mine that was made up by my ex-g/f's dad. See he likes to make these "jokes" where he'll purposefully mix up letters in a sentance so it sounds funny. in this case he was saying "Let's go pick up Stevie" excpet that instead he said "Let's go stick up Pevie"
so my game character and fursona are named Pevie.

Ive been using it like forever...My furry char's name is Mack, I sorta got it from wanting to name him something thats not been used regularly. I didnt know Mack was an actual name until later when I looked it up, it meant "son" in some language, so I thought it fit perfectly

'Stray' is normally my, how do you say, casual name among friends. My formal name is Temperfang, but for some reason, I don't like using that in the furry community. Stray seems to fit better. Either way.
A while ago, when I was pretty much lost and confused and starving for love and #### [depression], I had looked out the window and noticed a stray dog out the window and said to myself "So this is how a Stray feels like", and from there, I started using Stray in the IRC channel #hugs, and that's how people grew to know me. :D

"Kwan" is from when I was a wee one. My little brother had trouble with my name- -Karen--and the closet he could get was "Kah-wan," which got shortened to "Kwan."
Interestingly enough, his eldest had trouble with my name too, but instead of calling me 'Aunt Kwan' she insisted on "Aun' Kan-yon." So, thanks to my niece I now have an alias should I ever get into the pron industry (Ann Canyon).

And the fact that it'd be an ironic name as far as personality since my fursona would doubtlessly be very nice and likable, and yet at the same time be somewhat fitting in that he'd be upbeat and energetic, makes me like it more.

Anyway, I first started using the name of Sno-Pak long ago on Furtopia. But after about two years, I changed it to Kobuk. Sno-Pak wasn't very creative of a name; it didn't sound right or suit me. Kobuk has more of a "wilderness" feel to it. It's suitable for either a husky or a wolf name. I like it a lot and will keep it for a long time.

"Adamina" was originally my craft name, but I've strayed away from many aspects of the occult- however, I do do a spell now and again. Meditation is always a good thing.
"Adamina" means "child of the red earth," and nature is very important- I've always been able to connect with nature when I've felt lost in the world. Aside from cliché sounding reasons, here's an odd one: I also like names that start with vowels or the letters "s" or "r" for whatever reason.

Anyway... Wyntrë, a grey wolf, started appearing in my dreams when I was about 10. After the first time, I could feel Him inside of me when I was awake, too. He's helped me through some very hard times...

Cat tells me, in my dreams and every day, that He'll be back, but I can tell she's starting to despair.... and so am I.
I've never known if Wyntrë was... is... a part of me, or someone else... maybe a spiritual link with my soulmate. So calling myself Wyntrë is half a rememberance, half a flag that I hope He will see...

I used to really love this one anime, (Cannot think of the name of it to save my soul right now...) and this sub-character named Kahimi. Well, as I grew older and into Anthromorphic Art more, I needed a name to express myself by. Although it sounds more Hawaiian than Japanese, the name "Kahami" came about by changing one little letter in the name, the first I. So yes, Kahimi became Kahami. This is my main fursona.
My other fursona, Kuro the wolf, came by the fact that I loved the Japanese language so much and the color black, I just named her with the word for 'black'. I mostly use this fursona now when I am very, VERY angry.
Kitsumi, my mouse/fox fursona came about because I needed an innosent, childish sounding name to match when I feel bubbly and giggly. ((She's a pink mouse with blue eyes and bright purple hair.))

My FULL name is Streak the amur tiger. But as aim doesn`t support such a long name, I shortened it to Streak the tiger, or streakthetiger. I also use streakthetiger for websites and such cause streaktheamurtiger is almost rediculously long just to log in.
I rarely go by this long name though. It`s mainly just for my email and for identification.

A few years later I was sitting around in a science class and noticed that the genus for bats was "Myotis", which naturally reminded me of "Myotismon."

I liked the Ko- beginning, so I basically took the first two letters and then tried a variety of combinations of other letters until I found something I liked that wasn't already in wide use (and, believe me, there are a lot of Ko- names in use), and finally arrived at Kojac.

"Lucky" comes from all the extremely good and bad luck my 'sona and I have. It's sarcastic at the same time as it's serious. It kind of represents how even though I like [?being a furry] I can't share it with my friends or family, for my own reasons. I kinda believe in a balance between all good and bad. Without the bad, there would be no good, and vice versa. You know; for example, if there wasn't such thing as death there couldn't be life, according to nature.
"White" is more than a physical description. Since he's a representation of my personal criticism and analysis, it also means innocence and pureness. It's a combination between me seeing my [?being a furry] as an innocent thing and my slight obsession with perfection. Also, since he's not supposed to be a cat or any other defined animal, I tend to call him a [?white]. I use the boxes and question mark trick I learned from Marathon 2, which means a close fitting word for a translation with no perfect subsitutes.
I must stop typing now. I had lots of good luck this past week so, to balance things out, bad luck gave me a nasty cold. Lucky me.

Take the o out of Diabolos makes the name flow better for some reason, put the o after the x in Jax (Because it's a waste on an o) and it seems to want to flow better elongated to Jaxon by adding an n.
But it has been thought up for this website only, I'm not known by that name anywhere else. I'm like super secret ninja style at the moment you see.

So I picked something the day before Califur, so when I showed up, nobody knew who the hell I was. Go me!
So I chose Jake. If any of you have read the Animorphs book series, you'll know where this comes from (Book 11, for those of you who don't.) I adored the series, and being a cat person anyway, I thought that Jake turning into the Jaguar was the coolest. Quite frankly, that book was the reason I picked Jaguar (Long Story), but ironically, I didn't associate the actual name with my furson til recently.
I like it tho! Has a nice little rhyme and rythm to it!

Anyway, My fursona's name is Alandiel Darksbane and I think It's pretty original. Alandiel was a name I came up with when registering for an online text based vampire RPG. I might have heard the name darksbane before but I can't remember, Anyway. It's completely me and totally original as far as I'm concerned.
Although I have considered changing Alandiel to something Gaelic, I've written provisos into Alandiel's bio that could make that possible.

Now, I've loved skunks since I saw an episode of the Rugrats where Chuckie "got skunked", so many years ago. I loved skunks so much, then (Such as Fifi Le Fume, being a favorite). Eventually, however, it faded. Years later, closer to this point of my life, I saw a skunk wandering around my older sister's house, and the love rekindled just like that...first time I ever saw a wild skunk, just like that.
So, between Uber and Skunk...it was just meant to be. Uberskunk. That's me.

was originally rattkill- no reson really there.....then stacker came out as a joke in some chat, as in stacking things.....then it grew on me. so in a semi furry comic i was doing about 7 years ago there was a character in there i named lordstacker, and was me. like to always put myself in my comics. he was more human with ram horns. so when a few years ago i was colabrating with some com. over a fresh furry comic , was asked to put myself into the works- easy fix. the pure ram was born. but ever since ive hit forums, well i knew they existed its always been the same name....lucky me im the only one who likes it.

Morrison" for myself for a long, long time on the Internet and as a writer's pseudonym for myself ever since I first played Tales of Phantasia and fell in love with the name of the character. I feel that of all the names unique to the English language (though French does have an analogue in <<Edouard>>, which I took for myself for a French immersion course), "Edward" is the most regal and noble-sounding, and its true meaning of "protector of riches" reinforces these connotations in my mind. "Vulpes" is easy.

I had used the name "Wulfthryth" on a Harry Potter themed roll playing site because I love wolves and I wanted a unique name with "wulf" in it. So, I looked up old Anglo Saxon names and picked one that I liked the look of. If I'm not mistaken "thryth" means strength, so I guess Wulfthryth means "wolf strength" which is just freakin' cool.
I used that name when I first signed up for Furtopia. For some reason, I can't get into that account anymore (says I need to get it approved??? I have no idea what happened) Anyway, I re-signed up with Wulffrith because it pretty much sounds the same (as far as I know) it's just spelled different. I still go with "Wulfthryth" as my fursona's name though. As "Wulffrith" means "Wolf Peace."

I ended up at the page for dogs and noticed a consonant/vowel pattern in the scientific name for dogs (Something that comes with earning enough geek stripes I guess ). After some scribbling, I came up with Calufa using the first two letters of each part of the scientific name:Canis lupus familiaris. It sounded pretty cool to me, so I made a mental note, and once I knew I was furry, it was only logical that this be my fursona's name.

Anyway...
GUF (with one "f") is an acronym for "generally useless facts".
Guff (with two "f"s) means "a gust of hot air, or nonsense". To "give someone guff" is to be insolent or to pull somebody's leg with nonsense.
Since I'm full of useless facts, hot air, and nonsense, guf the coyote I am! One "f" or two, the name still fits. Proper capitalization or all-lowercase, I kind of go back and forth.
I also still have Ferris the Fox, an older fursona who's somewhat retired for the time being. He was my first fursona, a North American Gray Fox. I had no idea what to make (I thought being a fox was original!
or for a name... I just thought to myself that I really needed a day off... and boom! Ferris the Fox was born.

But, here's the story of my nickname ("Jellybeans"):
When I was younger, I started repeating some of my dad's coarse language, and seeing how my grandpa couldn't stand to hear his granddaughter saying such unladylike stuff, he taught me to say "jellybeans" instead of swearing. Grandpa also worked for Ford, so it was a long-running joke that any non-Ford was a "jellybean". We'd tease each other, I'd say "Hey, Grandpa.....CHEVY!" and he'd go "No, don't say that word. Say 'jellybeans'." And I'd say "Hey Grandpa.....DODGE!" and he'd go "Don't use that sort of language. Say 'jellybeans'." I can even remember him drawing Ford logos on all the cars in my coloring books.
My first car was a Dodge Neon, so when I showed it to Grandpa, he told me I had a "jellybean". We ended up calling my first car the "Green Jellybean" (and I ended up getting a shortened version of that on my plates.) How I came about having the nickname is the first night I hung out with the guys who would eventually make up a car club I joined called "Gravity Felt". One of the guys asked me about my plates, and I told the story. Later on in the night, he couldnt' remember my name for anything, but he remembered my plates...so I became known as "the Jellybean girl". Eventually everyone started calling me "Jellybeans"....and 6 years later the name still sticks.

I made it when I was playing Animal Crossing (it was Kirbs* first) then I started using it as a screen name THEN YOU TOOK'DED IT!brothers...
My Characters names came in this order:
First was Saloonka that I used back when I played SimLife(such an old game...) to name a species of dragon. I just liked it, so it stuck.
Next came Feidai, the name was just in my head, and the pronunciation came with it. I've used it even before I was or had heard of furry and she's always been a golden wolf.
And I only came up with Skarra this year, I'd had three characters, but not three names. He went from also being known as Feidai to saloonka, and finally I made it when playing Pokemon and fiddleing around with names.
Duskerro also came from pokemon, and I've only drawn him as a Falkland Islands Dog(long enough name???) but he's mainly supposed to be Feidai's horse.
While Feidai has always been a wolf, the others only got their species after I became a fur, they're all still under developement even after this long. All but Saloonka's species may change, and Skarra and Duskerro's names could also change. But who knows.

One day when I was little, before 8, my step-dad decided to get a kitten. So we went to some local animal shelter. I remember that I wanted an orange tabby because it reminded me of a tiger but sadly it was still too young to leave it's mother. So I looked in the cage next to it and saw a little tuxedo kitten with her mother. I picked her out and we went back home.
When my mother came back from work we where so excited to show her our new kitten. But we looked everywhere and could not find her. My mom thought we where lying. Well after a few hours we ended up finding the kitten under my side table. My mom thought about a name and called the new kitten Missie. She was missing for so long my mom thought it fit her well.
Well needless to say I fell in love with the name and I adored my cat and still do. So I took the name as my own as well.
I've had it for years now so I doubt I'll ever change it.

Well, I'ed just started playing Pokemon Diamond, and my favoritest Pokemon in the entire world was Empoleon. I used it for a name on a Pokemon Forum (cuz I wanted to feel special) and it sorta stuck. Then I came here under that name, gave myself a more realistic Fursona and the rest as they say is history.
Koori was my second fursona, a Leafy Sea Dragon Dragon. Savahaa sorta thought of the name *shifty eyes*
And last but not least is Lavander the Genric Purple Dragon. It's a play on words between the words Lava, and Lavender. It sounded clever at the time, but after a while, some people thought it was a spelling mistake DX

Alexandre de Britos Santoro: It's a completely Portuguese name. Alexandre (pronounced ah-leh-SHAWN-dree) came for various reasons; while in Brazil as a missionary (wow, a furry missionary... who would expect), I met several of them that had a great influence on me. One (Alexandre Dantas) was a master of about 1,000 ninjas in the whole world, and he helped me a lot!
Alexandre Santoro was also the name of a street that I walked on almost every day. When I get my character's bio done, it'll explain how he got his name from that street.
"de Britos" comes from someone I had met down there. She ended up hating us until we bought a birthday cake for her daughter (though she probably still hates me).

I go by two other names online, Cyndweveren, which means "Kind Weaver" and was given to me by a spirit, and my original and best-loved online name, Treshekera Nomis Tomane, which means "Name of the North Star's Child." That is by far the oldest name I've had online, and it means the most, though I really don't know what it actually means, lol. It was spirit-given as well, on a New Year's eve some years ago.
So...all of my names are spiritual/special names, not really words that belong in this world. They're names that mean a great deal to me, lol.

My other name that I use when I don't use the above method is, Enomadiseenithantermosiph; I don't use this often for obvious reasons, and I made it one day during English class when I was having a suicidal episode; But it seemed fun to say so I kept it regardless of its bad origin.

my first fursona, a friend of mine (fellow fur not in RL) helped me come up with the name. derived from word compassion which describes me perfeftly. i'm always willing to help out others even when it means i can't do something that i may need to have done (knowing in advance) and i'm always willing to listen to whats bothering other ppl even if i don't completely like em.
originally it was going to be suttle "assion" but he thought it needed some edge because it my dragons name and i already drew him out and he looks very edged lol.

this is my second one. it's a bear this one unlike Cassion reflects more of my all around attributes. physical appearence hairy (soft fur not all nasty like lol ) musscular ( i'm not to bad in that department ) and over all sycie, i even went to this site ( http://www.animalspirits.com/index1.html ) pretty much gives u a list of animals along with describing traits and attributes and if u feel u match up well enough than u got an idea what u should be calling yer self lol. i been calling myself a bear before i saw and u know it matched up perfectly lol, i'm even dating a big ol bear :-[
sorry got off topic on that one :D, the name Kudos...it's light harted and friendly ( been told it was a great name ) and well who doesn't like to recieve Kudos right?

I got the name "Pensive" in 7th grade, from my English class. Every day, my teacher would put up a random vocabulary word on the board for us to copy down. One day, the word was "pensive". It means "deep in thought, often with a serious look on one's face"....it fit me PERFECTLY. I'll randomly go deep in thought, and not realize people are talking to me. xD I also loved how the word sounded.
No one really called me Pensive, but when I signed up for deviantART that year and needed a username, I used "PensiveMoon" (my fursona at the time was a wolf). Since then, I've added an -e to the end of "Moon", but my name is the same. Most people just shorten my name to "Pen", though. X3

There is also another character called Kenshin Uesugi (Kenshin, oo-eh-soog-ee) which also sounds awesum, so i want to combine those names. Maybe as "Ieyosuesugi" or something, but thats a bit long =/.
In many roleplays i use name from a race of people from the GW range called the Ratskins, who basically combine lots of different words to make their names. Some examples are "Spiders-Fear-Him", "Ice-In-Her-Hand", and "Runs-Touching-Shadows". Its kinda cheating, but it produces pretty cool names, depending on your choice of character. Once i had a character called "Dark-Throat", and another time, one called "Quickfoot", but they don't really sound as good as some of the names that people come up with as their fursona names :(.

It's a common furry name, as most element+species names are, but I'm happy with it similar to how I am happy with my real name (Chris). It might be common, but it's one of my names, and it is a name I like. I appreciate the humor I heard at Anthrocon from another Icefox about how common the name is, though. Amusing. :D So far, I know of 3 Icefoxes, though I suspect there may be a few more. I'm the one from Ohio that is obsessed with Star Fox and science fiction, and I've had the name for about thirteen years now, ten years if you only count how long I've used it in the furry community, so I figure I've had it long enough to hold onto it. ;)

Sometimes I said I was "Murr-Quan Lord #2" when I was feeling grandiose. My cat, of course, was Lord #1.
In 2000 I started writing Sonic fanfiction, prequels to someone else's game adaptations. She had started writing on Sonic 3 & Knuckles, so I went back and did Sonic 1 and 2, which involved taking these games with no plot and making one up for them out of thin air. I created a behind-the-scenes sort of villain for them, a cat named Shadow -- just a year before Shadow the Hedgehog appeared in Sonic Adventure 2. And he had a "pet" named Tachyon, a peregrine falcon who got rid of people he didn't like (but was too shy and squeamish for his own good).
Somehow, I found myself having more fun writing for Tachyon than I could ever remember having. Probably because I put so much of myself into him, and made him more vulnerable than anyone else that I'd written for. I used to stay up at night, imagining exactly how he would feel at tense, "turning point" scenes. And while I enjoyed writing the fics as a whole, I especially loved writing Tachyon's transition from being an arrogant, blustering, insecure villain to having his pride and his heart shattered. Then watching as others helped pick up the pieces, and remake him into a reluctant ally.
The stories themselves probably aren't as good as I remember them, but boy were they fun to write.
When I realized that he had been my fursona all along, I adopted his name on the forums. I also gave him a species change, because I had become a vegetarian since creating him (and because there are enough predators in the fandom as it is).

'Lex' is a name I use IRL, mainly in the music scene, when I don't want to tell random guys in clubs my real name. The cyberkitten is basically a manifestation of these interests, and so it adopted this name.
'Arquin' is a name I use to identify myself online. It sounds nice, and is unique (whereas Lex isn't). It's also the name of one of my other characters. But there's no hidden meaning or depth to it - often, I find names like that just end up sounding pretentious...

Kaloyan came from a name generator and Alett I just came up with. I wanted something that sounded like 'Alex' but looked diffrent. When I finally got my own internet I used Kaloyan for my first name and thought I needed a last to fill out my persona, so I added Alett as a last name. It diddn't really become a furry name till I joined these boards a few days ago.

I am a very androgynous person in real life, and the topic came up in discussion among some friends that if I were male, my name would be Carl or Kyle. (One of my pals still calls me Carl when I act ridiculous.) "Kyla" is an acceptable feminine version of the name Kyle.
Jazz comes from my love of music. I am a musician of many talents, but I play the tenor saxophone the most... you guessed it, I am the first tenor in our Jazz ensemble. I get all the improv solos, betches.

Mine is just my middle name, that's it. I never even considered having a last name... which is odd (I'll come up with one eventually, if I don't use my IRL last name). I never really tell anyone my middle name, and Lawrence has a big meaning to myself. So I thought it would be a good name, seeing how nobody would really relate it to my IRL self at first and it would still hold a personal connection to me, as my fursona does. I don't know why so many people choose to have a more exotic name for their fursonas, not that there's anything wrong with that, it keeps them all very intresting! Mine's not nearly as exotic or fancy as all of yours, but that's ok, I'd prefer to have a name that could make more sense IRL if my anthro body were real...

Greeblig was a more recent creation. I felt that the elegance of the name Aridarr no longer suited me, and opted for a "uglier" sounding name. That said, I like the syllable "Greeb"... it always reminds me of the great crested grebe, a kind of water bird, which I have always thought to look vaguely fox-like in it's summer plumage.
I was too attached to Aridarr to drop it completely; and so decided to use both names in conjunction, joined by the third name, "Venn", which is short for vengeance.

"Lexington" has been my name since I became a part of the furry community, I didn't choose it, it just came to me. I attribute that to my therian side speaking out before I was aware of it. For years it was just Lexington (this was the first furry place I took place in at so it's always been followed by "the wolf" for lack of anything better.) Until I got to know a fox by the name of Darius Greywind, as I got to know him, I started to see him as a father figure (or Programmer since I am a synthoid) to me, so much so I asked if my last name could be "Greywindson" he said it was okay. Pretty quickly it just dropped to "Greywinds" Having a first and last name, I figured it would be best if I had middle name as well. I've always been partial to the number 5, I work best in fives. My stories tell of me with me being the 5th synthoid built and a big inspiration while I was young was the Short Circuit movies. So, the geek number for five, "Epsilon" became my middle name.
Lexington Epsilon Greywinds.
I dont know why I like this name..... it just screams awesome to me if i were to have a kid i would want to name it goliath if it was a boy...just to dispel some ideas, my name did NOT come from the old cartoon gargoyles.

When I got AIM, the name Red Falcon was taken, so instead of adding nonsensical numbers to the end of it, I chose something synonymous to it, but that still sounded cool: Blazing Firehawk.
As I became more and more of a furry lifestyler (right before learning of the fandom), I started to abandon my atrocious real first name for something more representative of me. I chose the simple yet strong name of Wolf. Once I had joined the furry fandom, I realized that Wolf was an extremely generic name (not to mention already taken by Star Fox's Wolf O'Donnel). I decided it was time for yet ANOTHER name shift. I figured it would be cool to combine my old pseudonym with my more furry name, and thus, Wolvenblaze was developed.
I'm probably going to go through more, possibly frosty, name changes because I have a habit of never committing to the little things. I still go by Wolf to non-furries, and I guess for furs it would be easiest to call me Blaze, but for some reason, I like the sound of Agorri LaTrans.
Anyway, I've rambled on far too long, like I always do. x_x

Mainly because i didn't have a name and couldn't think of a good one at the time, but also like the character from the game I love anything mechanical or 'techie' (I'm a former mechanic come engineer (OK student engineer :D) and a complete technophile) and as my fursona is based on/is me i think it works pretty well.
I may change my name though if i can think of a more original one.

Santoro: Is a somewhat common last name in Brazil. I spent six months walking up and down a street with the name "Alexandre Santoro," and I thought it would be perfect!
The story behind my fursona is that he was born on that street in the city of Rio de Janeiro to a woman with the last name "de Britos." Most people that are born without knowing who the father is used to be given the name "Silva;" however, she decided to use the name of that street, "Alexandre Santoro." Her last name, as is custom in Brazil, became his middle name.

Johann/Johan came about because it's my absolute FAVORITE name, I think it's beautiful and since I can't really make it my realname I'll name my furry self that! (I like it both ways (: I like Johann better but Johan goes better with the Scandinavian last name so whichever.)
Ribbons is the name of an anime character in Gundam 00, but a friend of mine began to call me it as a joke. And it stuck, now my family even call me Ribbons.
Øyblikket is Norwegian for 'the moment' which I thought was very neat sounding for a last name. Norwegian is my favorite language and I'm starting to study it.

I was really in to forum RPGs and wanted a cool-sounding name for my character. So what country did I want the name to derive from? No silly, not Japan, Germany! Why did I choose Germany over Japan? Beacause I was stupid and thought that Japan wasn't a country, but a city in Germany! :P As you can probably guess, I came up with the sorta-Germanic-sounding name "Zhono Veranhaut"
A few years later, I just became a fur and I couldn't figure out an original name for my fursona. So I delved into my memories to see if I could find a name that I used in the past. The first name I came up with was the RPG name. I threw it against the hypothetical wall and it stuck.

I came out of the search with: Fionlannach Tighearnan Sionnach. Which roughly comes to mean something along the lines of "Little Lord Fox from Finland". Yay for obscure languages to make up silly names! (:
So...Anglicize that and throw in a shorthand for the first name, and you get: Fenny T. Fox. Just as easy to say Fenny the Fox, so I did.
So my Fur Affinity page goes by FennyTFox. And that most likely will be what I use for new accounts and such from now on too, actually.

Ziel is short for Zielmann. I use these pretty much interchangably with all my online stuff (except for important stuff, like banking and such), and I suppose you could call it my gamertag as well...
Becoming Zielmann: This came about my freshman year of college. I never was much of a gamer before college. The newest system we had was a Super Nintendo. Other than that, we had an Atari as well. Anyhow, they guys I ended up hanging out with all played Halo (Halo 2 at the time). They kept inviting me to play, but I always turned the offers down, since I wouldn't have a clue what I was doing.
Finally one day I joined in. This leads to me asking half-way into our second game "How might one go about jumping?" which we still joke about now. Anyhow, since I didn't really know what I was doing, the guys who were really good couldn't predict what I'd be doing next. Actually turned out that they had a hard time killing me due to this lack of predictability. I ended up hooked on the game, and decided that I should at least make a profile on the one guy's box, so I would be able to keep all my settings and such.
Got to thinking about it, and came up with Zielmann, which is German for 'Target Man', referring to the difficulty they had in killing me. The name caught on very quickly, and was also quickly shortened to Ziel. Now I go by some form of that name more than my actual name, at school at least.
So to sum it all up, my name here means 'Target'. I was a little leery of using a nickname I already had for my furry name. But I think it fits well, as I already feel like somewhat of a different person when I go by Ziel or Zielmann. Maybe it just took me until now to realize that feeling as actually that of a different species...

For years now, my favorite band ever has been Mother Love Bone. Sanguine means one of two things: red - which, considering my fursona is a black fox, obviously isn't the definition I meant - and content.
For the most part, I'm laid-back, and while not exactly always happy, I'm generally content with life. So, Sanguine was chosen.
As for Foxxe, that's something I've been using for a while on MMO's. I like foxes, Foxxe didn't make me sound overtly furry, and I clung to it.

The word for 'song' in German in 'lied' pronounced 'leet'. I thought that was an easy one-sylable name that i could live with. But having it spelled in the proper German would not be too good since its spelled lied which means in English the past tense of a lie. I didn't want that stigma, so I modified the name with the extra 't' ending. Then leetspeak started to become very popular online in the early 2000s and my name was starting to get mistaken for LEET instead of Liedt. So, I modified the pronounciation a tad bit so its sounds more like Light instead of leet.
So that is where i am now and how its evolved in the last several years.

He started life as just "The Dog Lord" as his name and only title way back in 2002 (he may have appeared in a doodle or two in late 2001, but I can't recall nor find any that date that far back, so 2002 ;) ). I think he finally gained a real name, "Fenrir" around 2005 or 2006, but even then it was seldom used. Then around 2007 I started using it in prominence. He then gained titles like "Fenrir the Great", "The Dark Lord", "The Black Wolf", etc. And of course, in 2008 when I discovered the fandom, he became my fursona ;)
Weirdly enough, I think his design has stayed pretty constant for those eight years...the only character to have done that from my arsenal of characters :o

As for my furry-sona, I chose the name "Crow" because of this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3RQXbtNKfQ), (it's a music video) where all the band members grow feathers on their arms, like wings but not really. I was also inspired by The 69 Eyes, among other Finnish bands.
Soon after I created Crow, I created a mate for her, whom I named "Finny", maybe not so creative. I got his name by taking "Finn" out of "Finnish" and just adding the "-y". I really love Finnish music, the language, country, etc. I thought it was fitting.
I also have a character who I had originally created as my fursona in January of 2007, and her name is "Rye" now. Her original name was "Ryui" but I changed it so I could distance myself from the weeaboos and japanophiles and the like, because I have quite grown out of anime and the like. The name came from a favorite anime character of mine, named "Ryuichi". I was nicknamed "Ryui" on an online game I played under a character named, you guessed it, "Ryuichi". So I kept it for a while. Then I changed it to Ry, and now Rye, like the bread.
I have tried to make Rye just a character, but it has never worked. She will always be my fursona. However, I typically use Crow as my fursona in the furry world. I think once I get better with human anatomy Rye might fit in to the furry style, but for now I think she needs to stay as is.

The name Reynard has a very very long history when it comes to Anthropomorphism. Way back in the 12th Century (1148 to be exact) Reynard the Fox came to life in a poem about intelligent talking animals by Nivardus. Since then he has resurfaced for ceturies in tales, stories and works of fiction. During the years his name has been morphed into many variations, such as; Renert, Renard, Renart, etc.

My other fursona, Brisbane SnowDancer was the name of a character I wanted to play in Palladium Fantasy but never got the chance. I later turned him into a bar tender and the older cousin of Sigurd for writing purposes. I kept him with the nickname Snow Dancer with the background that when he was little he would throw off his clothes in the winter and jump around and dance in the snow.

I used to go by Tikak on forums and MU*s, but now I only tend to use Tikak on MU*s.
So now on forums, I don't use my furry name, I use a name my fursona tends to go by, The Local Furry, it doesn't identify my character in any way, and it stops confusion, I think I'm one of the only furs to go by The Local Furry

I knew I was a red fox, something I've come to realise seems quite popular, but felt like it was definately me. Foxes are very common in England and hunting them on horseback with hounds (controversial topic alert) is an English tradition so they are quite a symbol in the countryside.
Being English, and proud of it, I wanted my fursona to reflect that, especially the name. I wanted a relitively uncommon and pretentious first name and a more comical one for the surname. Frisk was easy, that came to me almost instantly, it just seemed to fit how I thought my prancing, playful foxy side would be. Easy. The first name was not such a simple journey!
After much debate I settled on Peregrin as a first name, because it still sounded like an English name but also one that you might not hear too often. It serves to show my slightly sceptical, serious and sometimes aloof side. I initially avoided this name for ages, mostly because I wanted to avoid confusion with the Peregrine Falcon. But I kept coming back to it because it felt and sounded good. In the end I accepted it and decided to weave my initial dislike of it into my character. I am VERY picky about my real life human name, it's not hard to spell but so many people get it wrong and I think it's just bad manners if you can't learn how to spell someone's name!

But wait, there's more! The back story in my mind is a name that was given, but hated (Skippy, a brand of peanut butter). As the story goes, Sk changed his first name to Segonku, meaning "one who squirts" in the Algonquian language, but everyone just calls him Sk.
When I first heard of the concept of the fursona, I got the idea shortly after searching about skunks. Almost instantly.

Snow Storm: He was my first, and I really had no idea what I was doing since I was in elementary school at the time. He was a blue and white wolf/cat hybrid so I picked the first thing that came to mind.
Akirani: This was literally a bunch of letters I put together.
Picasso: This was a time when I was heavily influenced by Pablo Picasso. I was obsessed with his work so it was only reasonable to name her after him.
Kiracasso: Akirani and Picasso were actually my fursonas at the same time. For a while it was just Akirani, but then I added Picasso. For awhile, there was a third fursona. A butterfly-winged, rainbow/white hyena without a name that was born when Akirani and Picasso would I don't know DNA Digivolve or something? So their names were blended into Kiracasso.
Gigi: Man, my fursonas' name origins are so boring. Gigi is the nickname my best friend gave to me so my fursona eventually got it.

Then when I looked up the meaning, I saw two different things: that in Arabic it means Brilliance, and in Swahili it means Work of Art or Beauty. I'm not entirely sure if that's accurate, but I do love the name, so I went with it.

My username here was thought of off the top of my head in a few seconds - I didn't want to use my normal username due to some trolls on another website, so it wouldn't be my fursona's name. Also, seeing as my fursona is pretty much me in personality, I would probably just use my real name.You know, looking back, I probably could have chosen a better random username then what I have now... I've seen, what, 4 people with this username on other sites now? Well, at least I don't stand out a whole lot, which was more or less one of my intents. :P

"Arashi" is Japanese for "Storm", last I checked. I always liked harsh, stormy weather, and I've relaxed outside in such weather like it was a relaxing, calm Summer day. There is a nice stoy behind: I was always very fond of physics. Even at school (maybe some around here will start shivering now). When I went the first time to the US with my parents - I was something around 12 years old - we were staying in a hotel. During dinner there were not so many people around so we had a nice chat with the waiter serving our table. Where we came from, what we are going to do. And of course about me. So my parents told him that I am quite interested in physics, math and all the stuff around. Well, the next morning the same guy was around during breakfast. As soon as he spotted me coming in he shouted "Hi Einstein" across the room ... and that somehow stuck to me.
if you think about the name of my fursona "Sven": I am living in Sweden so I wanted to have a nordic name ... then I visit my boss from work for a barbecue party ... and he has this old grumpy cat named "Sven" ... so I borrowed the name from him ... of course he agreed by purring loudly :P

So the final three words of my username can be completely omitted, which leaves us with a singular word of importance - Cirocco. Now Cirocco is an alternate spelling of an entirely different word, that one being Sirocco(which can be spelled as Scirocco as well) So why then did I pick Cirocco? I preferred the alternate spelling without the "s" but wished to maintain the phonetic sound of the root word.
I chose the spelling off personal preference, though picking the word itself was done only after careful deliberation. You see a Sirocco is a strong desert wind that carries with it the sand of the Sahara with it for miles. So I am named after a hot, dusty, wind in the desert. I chose such because it seemed an all to fitting monicker for me - I am of the desert, born and bred. It is here I have been raised, and here I will probably die.
Also like the wind I am a wanderer, never truly knowing what home is. I know the definition of the word, I just don't really know what it means. I have felt the presence of being at home very few times in my life, and for one reason or another I am taken from, or must leave, all the places I have ever felt at home. I am more at home now wandering the desert at night, chasing after distant shadows or stalking the railroad tracks then I am in this domicile I write this from. So as the wind is at home sweeping across my beloved desert, so am I at home wandering its lonely roads and distant hills.
The wind is also representative of spirit and freedom. Both of which are things I value highly, no matter my own individual struggles. And I believe, much like the wind, my spirit will never truly die. Surely I shall shed my mortal husk and my body returned to dust, but my spirit shall live on in the whispering wind that dances across my desert home. So yes, now that I am back in the desert I am more at peace, more ready to die and join the wind.
So I am the one called Cirocco, for my body is the dust given form and my spirit the wind I shall chase for eternity. I have no dreams of catching it, not in this life - death my eternal peace shall in a sense reunite me wholly with the winds I long for, and perhaps settle down my wandering heart and give me a true home.
So there you have it the name I have chosen for myself - it represents myself in metaphor, location, and even in the sense of life and death.

A girl I was interested in was going into Thaumaturgy (white magic in that world) and I saw an interesting spell on the list. Summon Pixies.
I decided I would go to the Thaumaturgy school, and I would become a Pixie Paladin. Once I was dating her she would learn a variant on the spell to summon ME. While the relationship never went that way the pixie character needed a sufficiently tough name that was nature based. Sadly, his career ended with him getting a job working for a giantess at a blacksmith shop.
Remembering stories of a rabbit who hid in a brier patch for safety I came up with the name Thorn Brier. As a shadow of its true origins my fursona was named Chakat ThornBrier because as a kitten shi chased a rabbit into a brier patch and got scratched up. During an interview later that day (or the day after?) shi said from hir adoptive mother's mechanical lap "Thown bwier huht, why bunny no come aut an pway?" After that, the name stuck.

Later at some church activity, with my close friend, we had name tags, and decided to come up with our own names for the activity. I chose drake, being the coolest name I could think of... Towards the end of the activity, we decided to get last names, and, unable to think of anything less corny, we stuck Fireborne onto me...
Well, Drake Fireborne sorta became my internet persona... my name for characters in games, and youtube video's and things of that nature... i ended up making a D&D character that combined my "mutant" and the name drake, and of course, seeing as his name was drake, made him a half dragon...
I loved the character, and he's been my go to D&D build since then... so when I discovered the fandom, Drake was instantly my fursona... It all fit so perfectly :)

Dax- Daxter, from Jak and Daxter this is to represent my interest in furries via video games.
Xeno- greek for strange. Character is part Greek, and he is a strange to people so it fit :p
Bis- comes from Anubis, character was born in Egypt and Anubis is the god of the afterlife, mummification. My character is part Jackal (though it isn't prominent in his looks that much), and he was a morticianist at some point in his life, so I felt it fit.

My fursona's new last name: Lasky, came from Halo 4/Forward Unto Dawn. He was another character I admired the traits of. Again, great leader, funny, smart, trusting, and brave.

I don't know how it happened really or in what order, but I came across the name Mikhail (German). And I was looking for a furry name and I was trying to integrate my own name somehow, to make it more unique. And I thought. What animal do I like? Wolves. What do wolves do? They howl (among other things). Ta-da! Mikhowl was born.
And that... just worked. It fit :)
Oh yeah and since I've been using Mikhowl I really don't mind Michael anymore ^^

How i got the name is abit silly... In middle school (back before i even considered myself a furry) i had my black and red fox fursona (who was just an anthro character to me)She didnt have a name, but i knew i wanted to name her after a nickname i had, but i didnt have any good nicknames for a fox ( i was called Birdy back then).
I was a very shy middle-schooler, even in the locker room i would be very conservative, change my shirts without actually taking them off fully, pull the shirt down to my knees before putting on sweatpants...you get the idea... But one day i came in late and had to spead change, so i really didnt have time for my shy routine, and it turned out one of my friends saw my Calvin Kline underwear... So they did the Back to the Future thing, gave me grief and started calling me Calvin...And so it stuck to my Fursona, Rotten Fox came later, and it was just because of her 'Rotten' (trouble making) personality and the fact she was a fox (yha, i was a very original 8th grader...)

Dodbringr: we have many cultural backgrounds, but one of the more prominent ones is our Norwegian/Swedish side. As such, we liked the idea of having a Norwegian name However, we couldn't think of any right away, but we were inspired when we were training in martial arts and the teacher called us "lethal". Inspired, we translated lethal to Norwegian, and it came out as dødbringer. However, it seemed a little obvious that we just translated a word, so we cut some parts out, and settled with Dodbringr.
Vladimir: this one is more straightforward. I just named myself after one of our more infamous ancestors, Vladimir Dracul, or Vlad the Impaler. Not that we support what he did (we don't), we just liked the sound of the name.
Xavier: even more straightforward: this is the name I chose for myself when we learned we were part German. Xavier is a German-based name, and we liked it, so we kept it.
Not as creative as anyone else, but we aren't good at creativity anyway. :D
EDIT: these are not JUST our furry names. Unfortunately, none of them are what we are actually called IRL. We refer to each other with these names, but they aren't our legal name. Hard to explain, but we just wanted to clarify a bit. (:

Kona is the name of my current fursona (no last name as of yet). It wasn't anything that I came upon in any special manner. After discovering the furry fandom I spent a few days contemplating how I wanted to represent myself now (as I've done a lot of changing over the years) and after deciding I wanted a tigress to represent me, the name Kona just sort of popped into my head and it's stuck as I work on her design. :3

Ethereal (Aun) -- The Ethereals are the political and religious leaders of the Tau. They resemble the Fire and Water Castes physically, but are marked by a diamond-shaped ridge of raised bone in the center of their foreheads. Their origins are unknown, and most Tau will never refuse a request by an Ethereal. They are sometimes also found on the battlefield, but whether as leaders or observers remains to be seen. The leader of the Ethereal Caste is a Tau named Aun'va, who is the Master of the Undying Spirit and the leader or Aun'o of the Tau Empire.

The meaning of the name Kazutaka is Peace, Harmony, Calm, Precious, Valuable

Japanese? I'm Japanese (irl ) I'm kentaro (real not fursona) I'm also Swedish. i forgot what it means though. i think its " strong and healthy boy" but that conflicts with me because I'm an avid gamer and not strong. at all and I'm fat. (don't say I'm not, i am and i accept it) so much so that its one of my many nicknames; Le fat Asian. also i have quintaco (don't even know) ken, taro, taroken, Swedish fish (tasty), windragon (based on Mai last name) ashan, math buddy (for a short time), kento, kenchan, real ashan (because my other Asian Friend is Philippine and we joked that doesn't count as Asian), and the anti-Japanese (because i can not stand top ramen ( i have to leave the room that it is in if there is some), and because i love dolphins (Mai fav animal ever :) ) and that is not the stereotypical Japanese person, also I'm large for an Asian (because I'm also Swedish)) so yea, is that a strange mix; Swedish and Japanese? I DONT KNOW ANYMORE i have too many names. also hi

The name wasn't taken, and I used it. In a while, I've taken quite a liking for it, and while making my 'sona It was my favorite choice. I guess that makes me uncreative, but I like it. *stubbornly holds onto name*
...and yeah, that's pretty much it.
You may also ask why I made her last name 'Epsilon' instead of 'Capricornus'. For that case, Kastra will promptly say that she likes it better, and it's still relevant to her. :P

The first is Scupper. My official job title is "Electrician +" but I spend most of my time at work fabricating oddball stuff that can not be found in the McMaster Carr catalogue. So needless to say I spend most of my time at work in front of a lathe or mill and the rest behind a welding hood.
Because of my skill set I somehow (still not sure to this day) got roped into helping out friends that own tugboats. One day shortly after commissioning my first fursuit I was repairing an area called a gunwale {pronounced gunal} which is basically just a solid wall with support flanges and a cap on top.. In order for the water to drain off the deck there needs to be holes cut along the bottom of the gunal, these are called scuppers. After a day of saying the word scupper I guess I decided I liked the the sound of the word. Thus "Scupper da Fox"
My second is Wrenches. I think my job may explain that. Buy the name mostly comes from the wrench shaped SnapOn tag I wear on my collar.

Perhaps the most interesting one etymologically is Kahjarin, meaning simply "The Fox One" in my conlang.

My fursona, of course, is an anthro black scaleless dragonfish named Glowstick. I picked the name because of the dragonfish's chin lure, which kinda reminds me of a glowstick on a lanyard. Glowstick is basically me, of course, with the addition of being a lot less shy. And I chose a fish because I think they are quite fascinating, and in many cases adorable (puffer fish and koi especially). Plus I'm a bit of a Halloween nut, so having a 'sona that was both cute and creepy depending on the light was perfect.

youtube video saw the name Zef liked the name but i liked it more as Zeff so thats what i named my fursona. if i ever were to become a furry in really life ild most likely change my name to Zeff.
well i no longer really use the name Zeff for my fursona. iv mostly shifted over to using the name Gray, and it sounds pretty nice to me as a name. tho i'd much rather have people i know offline call me by my legal name.

It was free, and so I started using that as my online screen name pretty much everywhere, but most still just called me Chez or Cheza, so eventually I too started to try dropping the "Na" from it when registering in places. When I eventually did become a furry it only felt natural to try and use the name for my fursona as well.
My fursonas "real name" is still "Chezana the Snowstalker" tho, but that's mostly a side-thing most people don't know about xP

My name "Yip" is one I've used since I was a kid. I originally used it for video games because some of the old video games limited your name the three characters (especially on high score screens). So I've actually had this a long time before I even knew about the furry fandom. When I first joined Furtopia, I created a new name using some math to manipulate my given name. Which is kind of cool and geeky and stuff, but I've came to realize that it just didn't fit me very well, and I was using "Yip" on SL anyway, so I adopted that as my official furname.

Farron got her name because she was heavily influenced by Lightning, but didn't want to name her Lightning or her real name Claire and thought her last name Farron would be cooler. Although Farron's full name is actually Snow Farron Husky but she prefers to go by Farron(she was originally just Farron Husky), her last name was just a joke since I never liked characters with the last name of their species but it stuck XD

Aaron Rekell: I liked the name Aaron. Rekell was the name of an old character from a long time ago who ended up being scrapped. Since Aaron and Rekell were very similar characters, i just made Rekell Aaron's last name. Aaron's middle name is Harper. Again, no real significance behind that.
Chaerom Bloodfang: Chaerom didn't mean anything when i first came up with it. Bloodfang is more of a title than anything else, it's not actually Chaerom's last name. (His real last name is Aurinko, but due to his backstory he doesn't remember much about himself including his name.)
Faroe Sinclair: Faroe was a name i made up on the spot while playing Pokemon. Faroe the Linoone then went on to find fame as my team's specialist, having a wide moveset to make up for his sub-par stats. Sincliar is actually after Upton Sinclair, writer of the book The Jungle, the book i was reading at the time... and i am still yet to finish...
Leon "Scrap" Augis: Leon is a cool name. Augis is just another name i made up. Leon's nickname Scrap has two meanings. One, when he was young his poor family could barely keep food on the table, so Leon mostly ended up with scraps. He also likes to pick fights more than is healthy, which leads to the second meaning of his nickname.
Meak Veridis: Then name Meak was meant to sound like Meek. However, while Meak is small in stature, she has a strong personality to make up for it, and being a mongoose, she's no weakling either. So the name is really more to contrast with her character than compliment it.
Yuri Kuzoro: Yuri was a name i took note of as soon as i first noticed it in COD MW3. Kuzoro was me trying to make a Russian sounding name from scratch. Turned out alright, i think.

Ash can cover the sky, blocking out light, but it is also something that help things grow. It's appears black at first, but when turned over, it's white.

Yogurt, or NomuYogurt, was just something I chose on a whim. I was drinking a lot of strawberry-flavored drinkable yogurt at the time that I created my first fursona. I use it on some other sites.
Rufure is the katakana (Japanese) spelling of the main character's name from one of my favorite games, Fire Emblem: Awakening. (English is Robin, Japanese is Reflet, katakana is ルフレ (ru-fu-re).) I grabbed it for my character on the MMORPG Blade and Soul and the name just stuck. :D

Name and last names are just because I really like them. Light also is a reference of my main scale color, since white is represented as maximun amouth of light instead of a color, but also is the contrary of what I like/want and "hides" my true personality if you take the word too seriously.
Kleave was the name (?) of a cyborg xeno character I really liked from a game and Blackwwod just because it has "black" and seems to be a more "normal" last name
My other couple of Oc's are:
- Xerean(u) Just meant to be weird/extrange, since he's from another planet
- Galleon - A mix of my "internet name" (Gaeltherus/Galerus) and real one, and just taking the first letters of each.

I solved the species first by starting the last name with something that could be connected to the cold. Then I decided I could paste the personality thing into the last name as well by using a metaphor. A bit of tinkering later, I decided to go with Sneeuwhart (literally translated to snowheart).
Then the first name should reflect my Christianity. Searching with Google I found the name Michael. It was both a German and Christian-based name. However, it was a boy name. I wanted a name that was androgynous, but after more searching Michael still stuck. So I tinkered on Michael until I came up with Michen, useful as German/Dutch androgynous name if pronounced right. (However, people are so used to English online they always think it's a British name and pronounce it in English...)
