Research and preparation
« on: November 27, 2003, 12:09:16 am »
In preparation for buying and wearing my first fursuit next year (possibly late spring/early summer), I've been cruising the Internet looking for info. on how to perform in a fursuit, safety, special needs, etc. but have come up fairly empty when finding info. on these topics. Does any fur here know of any good sites that might help?
My second question has to do with cool vests. I want to wear a cool vest so I don't get too hot in the suit. Even though cool vests are a big positive in helping to cool you down, has anyone had and/or read about any negative effects a cool vest might have on your body temperature? I'm just looking to play it safe than being sorry later on. Thanks.

Be sure you're nekkid and clean (w/undies!'<img'> inside your fursuit, and make sure you have proper ventilation in your head.  Purrsonally, I know I'm alright as long as I can breathe through my mouth and nose, and there's air coming in and out.  (leave a hole in the top and cover it with fur)
My eyes are basically two huge vents, so I dont need the top hole.
Also, I found these collars at Sharper Image stores that have some kinda fan based cooling system.  I asked an employee if you could "wear it in a mascot suit" and they said it would most likely be ok.
NYA!  =^_^=

Fan venterlation is cool,
But as long as you are not waering much under your fursuit there is not much problems.

I have not needed any cooling in my black folf suit..

Oh .... also REMBER TO DRINK LOTS OF WATER when in the suit as you will be sweating it out.

*hugs*

Thanks for the help Chaz_wolf, Kattywampus, and Darius. I appreciate any advice you have.
Still though, the fursuit.org/faq/ site that I checked into looks like it needs some serious updating.

Probably it does Sno-Pak. Just use Google and search for fursuits. There's lots of info out there on the net these days.

Oh yeah. You can find nearly anything on google. That's where I found Furtopia.
