Furry Manuscript Exchanges
« on: March 24, 2003, 09:19:02 am »
Howls,

I am working on a full-length furry fantasy manuscript for 9 to 14-year-old readers.  I'm looking for furs that would like to read it and give me good critiques.  In return, I will read your manuscript and critique you. '<img'>

Please, though, I would prefer it not to be over PG-13.

Thanks for your help.  I look forward to some good reads.

I wouldn't mind reading it through for you.  Though, I'm not one to fininsh a book really fast, so you'd probably have to wait a while for me.  When you say your manuscript is full-length, do you mean like a proper book-length?  Well, whatever it is, I'll still read it through.  I do like some fantasy books, as you could have probably guessed, so the genre should fit well with my tastes.  I'm not a writer myself, so thanks for the offer of reading something in return, but it's not very useful to me.  If you want to email me the manuscript, please email it to: drakoniandancer(nospam)@hotmail.com .  Obviously get rid of the (nospam) when sending - that's just there to prevent spambots.  I look forward to reading your story.

I wouldn't mind reading it either but I don't even have time to write my own story!  '<img'>  I have it started but that is about it.

Howls,

Thanks everyone.  I can send it to you a chapter at a time.  That takes up less bandwidth.  The whole book is up to 151 pages at this time.  That will change up or down as I edit it.  I will have ch. 1 done by Monday, if that's cool.  Let me know what you think, for real, and remember, it's written for 9-14-year-old kids, the Harry Potter age group. Cheers,
Patrick

Hmm, I'm a little confused.  It sounds like you've got the whole book done, and will send it a bit at a time, and also you are still writing it as you go along, and that you've nearly finished thr first chapter.  Maybe I'm not reading it correctly, but that is what I get from it.  Either way, I'll do my best to read through what you have.

It's a trilogy.  I'm sorry.  I should've been clearer.  I've actually finished Book 1, and I'm writing 2 and 3.  I'm currently editing Book 1, chapter by chapter.  What I wanted to do, plan to do was to finish editing each chapter, then send a finished chapter to those that want to read it.  I hope that sounds a little better.

Let me know if you need more info.

Hey, count me in too! I'm a pretty speedy reader and I need something to read in between bouts of 'Les Miserables' (I have to finish 1000 pages before April Fourth...).
I was actually about ready to do this myself... it's been really hard to get anyone I know (online or otherwise) to read what I've written for my (soon-to-be) online novel, so an exchange-thing would be pretty cool.
"One last thing, Rick, don't meet their eyes."
"What?"
"Don't meet their gaze. They have seen beyond the veil, and this makes their gaze most terrible. Seen from Terra, they cause fear... undiluted in Gaia, they will strip your soul."

Excellent.

I will certainly count you in.  My plan is to have Chapter 1 of Book 1 edited by week's end (by Thursday if I get really ambitious).  I will send it out to all that wanted a copy.

Richard, if you have anything to send me, I'll gladly read it.  I'm in the middle of "The Two Towers", but I've been known to read two or three books at the same time.

Everyone that wants to exchange with me, if don't have your email, please send it to me.

I need the following:

Richard Smith
Joel
DrakonianDanceR
Bear Paw

Kada-Ru.  I've got yours already. '<img'>

Look forward to your critiques.  Thanks again.  Oh, and the more the merrier.

Yeah, I got your PM too.

So... when you say 151 pages, do you mean that's the whole first book, is it a few chapters, what?   ':dead:'

If I print out the whole Book 1 from my computer, it's 151 pages long, double-spaced, and it has 10 chapters.  Let me know if you need any more information.
