I, too, always had furry tendencies. And therian, - furry therian? Furian? :3
I found I liked furry art, comics and stories, like that on DeviantArt (I didn't know it was "furry" until a month or so before when I discovered sites such as FurAffinity). I'm not into the adult side of the fandom (though, not against it) and I tend to avoid associating myself as furry publicly because of furry haters and my parents (in case they get the wrong impression), so I'm an "online fur", for now, at least.
Most of my favourite movies (especially animations) have non-human characters, those with human characters I just generally wished weren't (just imagine some blockbusters with furry characters instead). I actually tended to technical things like nuclear physics at the age of 10 or so, irl, then I went on to casual computer programming for sheer amusement; though these things were not "furry"-ish, I tended to feel I wasn't entirely human and felt less comfortable around humans (I was actually quite misanthropic and got picked on for it). My parents decided to create a menagerie of pets, and I later found interest in downloading animal photography and artwork (I eventually came across furry art, ofc). At 14-16, I somewhat found to find werewolves and similar creatures appealing, too, but found the media around it too gothic - though, at this point I started reading a fair bit about various animal behaviour. By the age of 17, I realised there were some good and even like-minded individuals out there but I still kept my distance, after a lack of such contact I feared saying the wrong things at the wrong time, I also observed much hate for those like me. At 18 I was getting quite depressed, it felt like I should have gotten involved in something like furry back then "earlier". Now I'm 19, I feel a little late maybe (media tended to act like animal-related interests were childish?), but there's obviously older furs than me, which I find reassuring. Over about a year, I downloaded 80,000 pictures (that I actually liked) attributed "Anthro & Animal Artwork" and bookmarked many more, I actually keep my Animal photography and highly realistic art downloads separate (which I lost a lot of between computers) which is aprox 20,000 images, judging from Windows Explorer.
