Bring back Title-only search results and the New Posts link, please

The search feature on the new forums displays results in a format I personally find frustratingly unnavigable.  Even with the "Display results as messages" box unchecked, it still stuffs a post summary under every topic line, filling the search results page with a lot of unwanted information.  If I'd wanted to see the posts in the thread, I'd have checked the box.  Can we bring back the ability to have a search page that looks like the old forums' search, with just a list of topic titles and the forum the topics were posted in?

I'd also like the New Posts link back, which made a search for all posts since the last visit.

Go down to the bottom of the forum page where it says "Forum Stats" and click where it says "View the most recent posts on the forum".

But it also has the same issue of showing the post text.  There's too much on the page, even with less than half as many results per page as it used to have.

Ugh, another problem with the new posts tool - it can't just put the latest post in a recently posted-in thread, it has to put every post in that thread in the list.  The existence of the word games forum spams this tool into uselessness.  If there were 20 posts in word association today, that's an extra two pages of big summary boxes with one-word posts.

I've sent WS a patch that will make the search results show only the topic titles if you didn't select "show messages" in the search box.  This should be up soon.

I'm also annoyed by SMF's inability to track the newest active topics.  I don't even think there's a mod for it we could install.  Doesn't anybody outside Furtopia use this function??  Anyway: I'll get to this, but it's not easy to add.

Oh thank you so much.  Could you also make it use that when it does a new posts search, or add a control panel setting to force it to?  New Posts was always how I navigated the forums on the old board, and it's really frustrating in its current form.

One last thing - the new posts search for some reason cuts off after 100 posts.

Yes, SMF limits them to 100 by design.

I think this limit has been put in place to keep the load on the database down.  So I don't want to remove it completely, but I could increase it.  What do you think would be a reasonable amount of posts and topics to display?

Well, ideally, it would calculate and set the cutoff at the last post after the user's previous log-on time.  Otherwise, I suppose an average day's worth of posts would be about right.  Right now it has about 5 hours' worth, but this is peak time.
