The "a" isn't so drawn out Shim, but thats pretty much it.
The easierest way to remember it is that at no point whatsoever does any part of my name rhyme with the word "halo"
I see folks mis-spelling it saying(writing) Kaylo and I just have to facepalm. There is no "y" after the first "a".
Kal-O-yan Al-et.
"Ka" -as in
KAngaroo
"Lo" -like
LOw bridge
"Yan" -as in yin and
YANg
Of course this is all a fairly minor complaint. It just irks me a little to see my name mis-spelled and mis-pronounced. Call it a pet peeve. I love my fursona name and I take pride in it. I'd be like hearing someone mis-pronounce America as A-mer-I-ca or if your state name were mis-pronounced badly.
The thing it reminds me of the most is an episode of "Star Trek: TNG" where the new doctor on board kept saying Data's name wrong. She used the other pronounciation of data, with the long "a" and he didn't like it. She asked him what the difference was and he said "One is my name, the other is other is not."
Of course her pronounciation was due more out of her not recognising Data as alive because he was an android. Though it still reminds me of the scene.
