Geez those things are ugly. If thats what they generally look like I'd have to say no.

*An Andurusian catboy runs into the room, superdeformed and flailing his arms wildly* Stooooooop!

*Skids to a stop* I cannot let this travesty continue! Um, no offense. =^.^=;

Anyway, that's kind of a bad example - I always thought those two's faces looked kinda weird...not that there's anything blatantly wrong. A better example might be Felicia, the lovely Katt Chuan, bubbleheaded dragon half Mink, Aisha Clanclan, Nei and Rika of Phantasy Star fame, or most of the girls in this section. Also see the artwork of Bridget Wilde in her Home for Wayward Catgirls. *Cough* And my own site, once I get it updated again...

Anyway, I hope this clears everything up! And once again, no offense was intended. =^.^=

Now...I will make you drop that Ice Spikes scroll, Phantom!

Well, those are what i can call a "minimal percentage of furry". After all, i dont think anyone considers those models wearing bunny ears at some playboy magazines to be furry...

I personally would say that Katt Chuan is a full furry, since she has paws for feet and fur.  Hell, she gets away with wearing no pants.  '<img'>

the other examples you mentioned are good ones though, though I might say Felicia is pushing it a bit.

I love Beastboy (new Teen Titans) and Nightcrawler (X-Men Evo). They're cute and funny. ^_^
I'm not going to get picky on whether they qualify as furry or not. They're partly human and partly animal, close enough for me. '<img'>

If it's animal with some kind of human attribute or visa versa, it's a furry to me.

I like some half beasts, but the cat girls annoy me. Theres just too many of them and having stuck on ears, paws and tails seems a little crass...

No offense to anyone who really plays one. I just don't like how they assume to be furries, when the furry fandom is about being more "furry" *hinthint* than human.

It all depends. There's different degrees of furry people are comfortable with. I consider certain nekojins, kitsunes, half breeds and what have you with a certain philosophy/behavior/attitude to be furries. I just don't base it on looks.

When it comes down to it, technically we're all human no matter how much we hate it or try to separate it from ourselves. True furryness is not a form, it's a mindset, a philosophy, and a way of life.

This is Felicia, a great example of a half Beast!
Also, those who are a fan of Bloody Roar might remember Euriko (Is that how you spell her name? lol) Shes a good example as well.
EDIT: I forgot to mention, I love teh halfbeasts! n.n One more thing:

Catgirls=Neko
Dogboys=Inu

Just thought I would point that out. Also, Neko translates from Japanese to cat and Inu is dog.

well, I don't know if they would be considered furry or not, but I definately without a doubt like them to extreme levels.  my favorite animes are stuff like Inuyasha (because of SHIPPOU-SAMA, Kouga, and Inuyasha) and Wolf's Rain (cuz of the wolves).  I willl also say that I like shows about them more than about normal human ppl.  in fact, the big story I'm writing right now (the website link in my sig leads to its homepage) is about a kitsune demon, who instead of making his human-appearing form completely human-like, he kept his vulpine feet, tails, and claws.  I'm actually getting really good responses if y'all wouldn't mind checking it out.  I also write Inuyasha fanfics about the characters becoming half-beasts in some way or another (like in Run Wild Miroku when Miroku's blood becomes that of Kouga's and he lives as a wolf demon)   '<img'>

The only neko I've really liked was Merle from Escaflowne. The rest just look way too much alike and kind of gimmicky. I prefer real furries.

Aisha clan-clan from outlaw star is the ideal example of a half beast character. but she is different in the way that when she gets really angry like her clothes explode off and she turns into some sort of bear/white tiger with massive ears now thats furry.

so yeah they are cool

Fam was a fun little wiccan who is of the degree I would consider her anthro. Orange fur, kitty ears and tail, fangs and her personality. But, being that Ruin Explorers isn't high on anyone's list... *shrug*. But, Ihrie is cursed to turn into a little minorly-anthro mouse. Huzzah! I still think Fam should have stayed with Lyle and lived happily while mothering more little happy cat people!

Uriko I think counts more as a furry, being that the rest are more naturalistic and would be more appropriately deemed weres. I like Bloody Roar and wish Fox would come back. He was a transvestite, but the manual explained how warped his background was.

Un-fuzzy catgirls are more of a removable aspect. Such as glasses or an outift. It's normally the domain of costume fetish. Though, Cham Cham of Samurai Spirits is more of a furry than most. She bites, she claws, and evidently communes more with nature.

Felicia is more of a were, actually. She has he half-human half-cat guise, or can become a little kitty with blue eyes.

Well, for me it entirely depends on what style the anime/manga is draw.  Alot of them are very good,  especialy inyuisha, bloody roar and Wolven series artwork (done and drawn by ryuumajin).

but there are a few that are just plane bad, some too human like (excludes catgirls).

They're good if it's a good artist doing them, but if you have someone who honestly can't draw to save his/her life, then no.

Recently I've gotten an interest in drawing half beasts. I myself enjoy drawing them more than real furs, mostly because it seems more of my style. My fursona is a half beast but keeps much of her birdlike features (feathers, wings, tail, claws, talons and personality-wise also.I shall show a pic sometime to explain better,when I get my scanner.) I can understand why many wouldn't consider them real furs, but it really depends on how they are drawn.
Yay sigs!

anthropomorphic

adj : suggesting human characteristics for animals or inanimate things

Just wanted to point this out, that anthropomorphic applies to animals that have human characteristics, not humans that have animal characteristics.  There -is- a line there.

Personally, I adore those characters.  But I don't consider them furry.  They are almost entirely human save for a few animal appendages, for the most part.  An anthropomorph isn't a human with animal parts, it's the other way around.  I idolize Inuyasha like no other anime character...but there's no way I'd call him a furry.  He'd tell me to piss off.

I don't mind them, having been an anime fan for a couple years now, but in most cases would not consider them furry.

Well in my opinion, it all depends on how the character carries him/herself. Furries seem to come in many forms, and I would consider even someone who wears fake paws and a fake tail to be furry. (Mild Fursuiting?  '<img'> )

But mostly it hinges on their behavior. In general they tend to just be someone who likes a few cute accessories. There is a prominent distinction in the personalities between those people, and people who actually understand what a furry is as well as live it. It's behavioral, plain and simple.

After all, most of us ARE human biologically, but the distinction of what we are come from the mind and heart. And with that said...I hate the frikkin poser S.O.B.'s >:O
