Notre Dame in flames

<< < (2/2)

FarFar:
Sad. They don't make buildings like that anymore.

Old Rabbit:
One worry is the stones have been damaged so much by the fire
they may not be safe enough to rebuild. Fire softens the stone, so
they will have to test it.

They are already inside checking the structure and watch for fire
starting again.

They did save some of the relics, crown of thorns and a piece of
the cross, and others. Also some of the windows were not
destroyed. Also several of the paintings were removed in time to save them.
The big thing is to protect the remains from weather
damage.

Plans are to rebild the cathedral, but  it will likely take many
years before it's splendor is restored.

Already money is being pledged, over 400 million so far.
The building was in need of repair, so perhaps in a way it
will end up restored so it will last hundreds of years
more.
