New artist needs help...
« on: July 10, 2013, 08:59:46 pm »
Ok so I'm a new artist I just started drawing 2 or so weeks ago and I'm kinda stuck. I just need a few pointers to help me just tips nothing to large. Oh and I already practice for at least an hour every day. Most of the time I just practice and when I need to I'll go outside and play ball. Anyway I might post some art up soon as well so you guys will have a visual reference. Thanks in advance.  :D

I'd rather die on paws then live on feet.

The best advice I can give is to read through this tutorial: http://hippie.nu/~unicorn/tut/

It's one of the best ones out there.

Hi Drakkon

The basics are always best for a beginning artist.
The daily practice like your doing is important.

Draw Still life. Food, flowers, ect. This helps build your
perspective and shading skills.
Draw what you see around you. It's all good practice.

Study skeletons and proportions for humans and animals.
Draw for fun too. Study though important does get dull if
done all the time.

Tutorials are good for help on drawing specific things, but
learn the basics. Perspective, Perportions, Shading, Basic shapes.
The one Storm Fox mentioned has a lot of good information. It's
well worth the study even if you have other resources..

There are many help sites for art on line. Just google or yahoo your
way around the net for them.
If you can't afford a art study guide, check your local library. If you
can, Amazon has many good books on drawing for sale. New and
used.

Just remember like any artistic craft, learning
to draw well takes a lot of practice.

Last of all. Feel free to post your work. We are glad to offer helpful
suggestions to improve your work.
