I used to think that MLP was the sort of thing that little kids might enjoy, but which I wouldn't. I watched a couple of episodes a little while ago with Weisseman, and I think he has converted me. When I have a better Internet connection, I'm going to watch the rest.

...  (*sigh*)

It seems that I, too, have been sucked into the appeal of this series.  About two weeks ago, I started reading the MLP thread on this forum.  It was the third source that had told me that the series was appealing (the other two being members of a (somewhat) local furry group and of a somewhat geeky university CS group); I considered this assertion unlikely to be a fluke or mistake at that point.  In approximately three sessions, I have watched about 15 episodes.

Then I went to a Boy Scout camp as an adult for my troop, and had to force myself to not hum Winter Wrap Up in front of a mostly male 200+ pool of witnesses.  It was bad enough that my mom (who is accepting of things such as a 21 year old male watching MLP) leaked the fact that I had been watching MLP to my older sister (who would (and did) give a ton of flak on the subject), oblivious to the potential consequences and my attempts to conceal this practice from said sister.

I've found the series to have about as much appeal to me as the fandubs of Digimon and Naruto (which surprised me greatly, given the seemingly excessively feminine initial appearance of MLP).  Now that I'm back at home (with better Internet access, more time, and more privacy), I think I'll start back where I left off in the near future.

In all honesty, Kobuk, everyone is confused by this when they're looking in from the outside. But once they give it a chance and keep an open mind and watch a few episodes, they find out what all the fuss is about. :)

Thats very true. Besides you could play the Where's Waldo game in spotting Background ponies. You're a Dr. Who fan So you could try spotting all the showings of Dr. Whooves.

Quote from: My Little Pony Wiki
Due to his time-based cutie mark, and spiky hair (similar to that of actor David Tennant), he resembles the titular character in the British television show Doctor Who. Doctor Whooves' model was also given wings re-used as a pegasus in the episode Sonic Rainboom, as contestant number 5. However, the earth pony has a mature male voice, while the pegasus pony he has a youthful boy voice. In the episode Over a Barrel a younger version of him appears with a hat, and hits a few barrels.

Ok, so I realized something yesterday when explaining the personalities of each main ponie to my mate yesterday as if it were nothing when discussing possible birthday cake ideas for our oldest daughter. I'm way too deep in this pony thing for my own good. :D

Tongue-in-cheek question: Has anyone ever wondered if there are subliminal messages in this show brainwashing us into love and tolerance and an alarming obsession with neon-colored ponies?

I guess I don't mind if there are. I can think of worse things to be brainwashed into. :D

You do realise, that if you go with a Pony cake you'll have to share pictures?

But of course! Though I'm still trying to convert my mate, but she refuses to watch the show so far. Yet she has no problem ribbing me about it. :P

I've been monitoring the exchanges in this phread for the last couple days; I need to make a few corrections to y'all Bronies on your vernacular:

First, when discusing the princible characters of the show, they are collectively called "The Mane Six" or just "mane 6" for short. You shouldn't use the word 'main'.

The term 'tongue in cheek' should be re-worded to "Hoof in Mouth". Sure that is actually a disease in the RL, but it serves the purpose for chit-chatting on forums.

There are many other catch phrases that are being used most splendidly, so keep them up. Some of these are: 10 seconds flat, 20% cooler, so awesome!, love and tolerate, confound these ponies!, Eeyup, Ooh Muffins!, Yay!, Okie dokie lokey, Forrrreverrrrr!, Oatmeal! Are you crazy?, Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh, ponies are crazy!, Dear Princess Celestia, This is whining, It... is... on..., Great and Powerful (Trixy), Friendship is (fill in the blank).

Bah, I'd still use "main" over "mane". I like puns as much as the next brony, but I think that one is just a bit too silly. Since I don't actually go to other forums and the like, I don't see the point anyway. I like living in my little bubble. :P

Too bad Furtopia didnt get taken over by Ponies before April Fool's, because it would've been awesome to have Furtopia become Ponytopia(A much better, rainbow filled hooftopia).
"But are you going to kill her off?"
"It's not your decision. I love the character, she stays."
"Yeah, well the only thing love's done is put you in this position; I say kill her off!"
"Yeah, but you say a lot of things... and how does that work? You're a bicycle" Claudio Sanchez, In the song Ten Speed of Gods Blood and Burial, which is basically about a crazy old writer talking to his bicycle.

:D It's already been taken over! And in a much more sunny and fun way! Though I think it'd be neat to put up a few rainbows here and there.

It is now the near future.  I have finished the series.  Things are otherwise uneventful in this regard.

...I'm not even sure if the above was notable enough to be worth making a post about, to be honest.

Well, you did present us with new info, so I'd say it's relevant.

This post on the other hand, probably not relevant.

Ponies.

There, now this post is on topic.

Wow. Behold the power of Fluttaurshy. Stalls threads in 10 seconds flat :D
I think there's just so much cute there that everybody forgets there's a 'reply' button down lower on the page.

I've been going through several of the songs in my head while at work lately. Mostly Winter Wrap Up or Art of the Dress. But At the Gala pops in there every now and again, too. Usually it's the Super Ponybeat versions, though, because I've listened to those so much... I don't actually have most of the lyrics down, but the melodies are there.

@RY: Any specific thoughts now that the series is over?
