Title: Anchovies and other oily fish.
Post by: Osphronema Macaw on February 21, 2016, 01:57:07 am
I love seafood. Especially salmon and sardines. And anchovies too. But why do so many people not like anchovies. They're caught for a reason.

I don't like them.  :P And I never understood why people put them on pizza.

What I like: Salmon--I can barbecue or bake it and it'll come out delicious. Tilapia, halibut, sole. I watch for sales at the grocery store to decide what to buy.

Not on my favorites list: Anchovies, clams, oysters, sardines.

I love anchovies and seafood in general (I mean, I am from a Mediterranean land after all :D), but I agree with Kobuk that they don't go very well on a pizza. :/

Sardines are tastier than anchovies. I find anchovies to be too salty.  (:

I will eat most seafood (I see food, and I eat it!  :D), and most species of fish. Sea cucumbers are off limits, though--too slimy! Salmon, tuna, snapper, eel, crustaceans, and calamari are all fair game.

Anchovies aren't innately saltier than other fish.  We just store them that way.  Unsalted anchovies are still oily but they're /really/ good.  You can eat them out of the tin.   They're just hard to find.

Fresh-caught trout fried in the pan with lemon pepper.

I also have a recipe using canned salmon to make salmon burritos. Requires a can of Cream of Shrimp soup, and a package of frozen chopped broccoli.

I adore fish!  My favorite is salmon (best fish) but I also enjoy anchovies if they're done right!

Anchovies aren't naturally super salty.  Humans add tons of salt to them to preserve them.  Anchovies without the added salt are wonderful.
