Been a while since I've seen a thread like this, so..post a picture of your desktop!
I try to keep mine clean and classy :)

I know, right? Come on Shim, everyone has to have at least a professional level of understanding of audio software plus computer science to make any kind of intelligent contribution to furrydom, society, or better yet, this thread...otherwise they're probably just too ignorant to take notice.
My desktop is just the Recycle Bin and one of the stock Windows 7 pictures.

My desktop is just the Recycle Bin and one of the stock Windows 7 pictures.
Mine would be totally stock too...if it were not for the fact that Im a furry and thus felt the need to modify the original Win7 background into this one:
There is a very tiny subtle diference, maybe you can spot it,LOL! :D
-
We would post one if we knew how to post pictures. :-[ Could anyone help us out please?

Go to your desktop, minimize all the browsers or windows you have open so they dont get in the way, then press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard, its on the same row as the F1 to F12 buttons, about 3 from the end depending on your keyboard. Then just open paint or photoshop or whatever you use, paste it in there and save it as a normal pic. Upload to photobucket and paste your link here :)
---
If you mean how to post it here, upload it to photobucket or whichever photo hosting site you use, copy the link from your uploaded photo and paste it in between this code:
You get that code automaticly by pressing the little icon that looks like a photo just above the box where you write in your posts/replies.
Heres a guide: http://forums.furtopia.org/furtopia-org-services-support/inserting-images-into-posts/ (http://forums.furtopia.org/furtopia-org-services-support/inserting-images-into-posts/)

Hopefully our desktop doesn't bother anyone. :-[

That is my "desktop". Obviously minimalistic. Perhaps a tad too minimalistic. (Click me) (http://ompldr.org/vaWNuYQ/2013-05-08-214956_1360x768_scrot.png)
Or, if ompldr is down, here is an ImageShack link: Click me (http://imageshack.us/a/img689/7977/201305082149561360x768s.png)
At any rate, the stuff you see on the top is "xmobar". It lists desktops which have at least one open window on them on the left, then the active window name (which is not there because there is no window on my desktop), followed by CPU and RAM statistics, up- and downloads and MPD, which is pretty much just info about which song is currently playing, written down in "Artist name - Title (Album) [Time remaining]" and, last but not least, the date and time.
The rest is for my window management, done by xmonad. I just LOVE tiling window managers, and doing everything with my keyboard.
Why do I have it this way? Well, because I like it, obviously! :)

Haaaaa, was not expecting that :D Very minimalistic indeed :D

Haha, I was just talking about how I didn't have a bunch of shortcuts and stuff. But yeah, I guess my background could be a little scary if you don't like snakes.

Jeez there's almost nothing on there!

I'd be suspicious of that computer. Playing a song and displaying that desktop... and it's got 27% CPU and 54% RAM in use? Clearly hiding something.

Maybe it's just ~reeeeeeeally~ old? :p

I am sure most of you put random icons in the task bar, well that's what I did. Starcraft ftw :D!
My desktop icons are hidden because they are way too many, I save everything in the desktop, specially images.
Look closely in to the image now, go, do it, closer... closer... aaaaaaaaand its May the 14th.
-
I keep my random icons on the desktop; nothing gets saved there unless it's to remind me to clean it up (as in delete it) later.

What desktop?
....this is less than usual...

Both somewhat right, I guess.
Well, my processor is an Intel Core2 Quad, running at ~3Ghz (a staggering 4799.88 BogoMIPS (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BogoMips) per core) so that is fairly decent, but I only have 2GB of RAM. Also, I was running a fair bit of software at the time (as usual):
Firefox (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Firefox) (memory hog with ~80 open tabs), Freenet (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freenet) (which is a real CPU hug, easily ends up using a complete core just for itself) and MySQL (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MySQL). Also my favourite lightweight programs: WeeChat (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weechat), vim (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vim_(text_editor)) and, last but not least, ncmpcpp (http://ncmpcpp.rybczak.net/). Of course, also a huge amount of processes because, even though I'm a Gentoo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gentoo_Linux) user, I'm doing minimal all wrong :P
-
I've been meaning to upload this for a while, but only just got around to it:
The background picture was drawn by a very good friend of mine by the name of Ayush, very talented artist (he has promised to email me the picture but at the right resolution for my screen, when he does I will replace this picture with that one but I like his art too much to not use it in the mean time).
And the huge, glaring clock in the top right of the screen is my alarm XD Not pretty I know, but it does the job.

Here's my current setup:

Windows 8 :P I don't know why they are killing it already. Just remove metro and everything is ok. It's just a faster version of 7.
Looks at desktop* Yep. I need to kill some programs again. I don't use about 1/3rd of those programs.
and here it is after I murdered a heap of programs:

- Installing Java
- Updating graphics card
- Installing windows updates

...I'm not seeing either of these on my end. You probably do because you're logged in to the relevant services. A easy yet effective (but not foolproof) way to see if an image would be visible to others on the forum is to view the image URL in a private browsing session (since you won't have session cookies active there).

All that icons would be annoying if it wasn't 1080p
In the top-right corner is a clock that shows the time in Epizoania (one of the universes my fursona lives in). I've written it in Java. The date format is day.month.year and the time is in 24 hours notation (I think it's way better, than AM-PM).
