FURLAFL suiting story
« on: August 13, 2012, 07:56:11 am »
first a note to the mods: not sure if this belongs here or in the photo section. feel free to move it, i'll know for next time :)

way past my bed time but i have to tell the world :p

this weekend marked the completion of a 4 month-in-planning event we liked to call furlafl. which quite simply was a bunch of us suiting at a football game.
the Saturday involved me picking up paskhowl thylacine and coutzy lion from the airport. we met up with a couple others and had some cheer at a resteraunt later that night.

sunday kicked off with subway for breakfast and plenty of fluids for the coming 5 hour stint in suit.
i drove to the gates and waited with danny (non suiter) dressed as Frank and wearing a poofy jacket for more hugability (works well might i add for partial users!)
then pask and coutzy rocked up in a taxi and eventually Rowland arrived (jackal) and we entertained the crowd. even assisting the local charity workers draw in some donations. we encountered a local charity mascot; Gerald the giraffe, and had a respective Chinese bow with him then proceed with having our photo's taken with anyone who asked.
there was also a disabled kid who i coined 'drift king' since he already had his L plates up and was only about 8 years old. future ken block right there. was his birthday so he got highpaws from everyone.

passed through the main gates with no trouble. not even security check so we got to keep the magic preserved  :D
the game started, more photo's were taken. quarter and half time entertainment provided. think we got on TV at one stage hehe. was only a few little trolls who wanted to convince us that we were in fact human. i flatly informed one that he was clearly an alien in a silly looking man suit.
but there was no deterring this particular kid. even when our spotter asked him to leave. but an angry shout and growl from a Tasmanian tiger sorted that out and the day continued unabated.

after a brutal 5 hours had passed with the others having managed to drink while in suit (i had nothing since my suit wont allow it and didn't want to kill the magic. but i know my limits) we headed out the gate, me receiving a few last minute hugs as we left the main gates and went back to the car.

THIS WEEKEND I DEFINE AS LIVING LIFE TO THE FULL!!! and i was actually kinda depressed as i drove home today as my weekend was over. i'll get over it and i'm now associated with some local furs, sure we're at least 150km's away from each other but at least we are in the same state! more adventures to follow. now for pics.

all pics credited to Daniel King and Colin King. i do have a video but i THINK someone cursed in it so i'll leave that out of here.

Doesn't it feel awesome to have friends from all over the place, and then to go suiting with them? :) Sounds like a blast! Hopefully you all can coordinate more meetups in the future.

Oh btw, why did you call it FURLAFL?
