Diseases in a furry world?

December through March is when the flu usually hits the hardest. But.......it can happen during other times of the year as well. And it's not just the flu going around, but the common cold, brochchitis, and now we've got this coronavirus going around the planet scaring everybody. 

In a anthropomorphic furry world, what diseases or conditions would furries be most scared of getting? How would they prevent them, if possible? How would they handle pandemics, quarantines, etc.?

I would imagine mange would be a major concern in a furry world since it leaves you without fur, which is not only unsightly, but let's you get mosquito bites and sun burn.  Oh yeah, it is very very itchy!.  I imagine it would be common if not controlled, so I imagine it is controlled by quarantine and some meds.

Another disease I imagine happens is retrogression into a more ugly human form.  Which being mostly genetic, is treated with breeding control..we can't have furries turning into humans!!

By far the largest reason for furries to hate anti-vaxxers would be good old parvo (canine parvovirus type 2). Highly lethal, especially to pups, and contrary to the name, it affects many more species than just dogs. Remember to get your shots!

So... eugenics is the solution? That's never been very popular, since the only viable means of actually enforcing breeding controls range from "oppressive" to "very oppressive".

No, no eugenics.
I was playing devils advocate for a hypothetical furry world that is not one we would want to live in.  I was thinking essentially a totalitarian furry world, possibly after am apocalypse.   If eugenics were in force, I would have been disposed of shortly after birth because of a problem I had.

Also I was echoing what we humans currently do with pets... selective breeding, spay and neuter, etc,  all in a means to make dogs more expensive and look a certain way.  Which is controversial topic.

And heck yes,  parvo, lepto, rabies, all easily preventive.  And cheap.  If you have ever seen an animal with parvo it's sad how bad it is. No excuse these days to not get shots.

I would swear I got the dog flu once, from my dog Heidi.  So yeah, in a furry world we would get flus from many species,  and would have to treat it with lots of food and belly rubs!

But a cold would be treated by isolation since no one wants to be near a dog who sneezes.

Also snout-rot.  It is just as it sounds.  A slow rotting away of the snout.

How would genetic afflictions be considered, like albinism?

I think I've read some place where bats can get parasitic fungi growing on them.
