Taking arguments to PM (Private Message).
« on: January 04, 2011, 11:17:07 pm »
For as long as I've been a member here, I, as well as the other staff, have watched countless threads being posted about a great number of subjects all over the various forums Furtopia has.
Numerous topics have been posted. Some good, and some bad. Some have been peaceful and polite, while others have degenerated into bickering, flaming, etc.
This small post is to inform all the members that if someone or something bothers you in a thread, then please do NOT openly get into an argument and start de-railing a thread by having a petty argument between two members. Time and again, the staff will ask that the "arguments" be taken off the forums and into PM (Private Messaging). Why is this necessary? By having two people take their argument or tirade into PM, then that frees up the thread for other members to have a calm and civilised discussion without watching two or more other members create undue drama.
Making a PUBLIC SHOW to vent out a conflict is ethically WRONG.  It draws many members into the conflict and creates political "sides" and generates a huge amount of speculation.  In effect it's sacrificing the peace and stability of the board for our own egos/emotions.
In short, If a staff person asks two (or more) members to take their "disagreement/argument" to PM, then please do so. It would be greatly appreciated by all. :)

and with what Kobuk stated, taking things to PM allows the forums to stay calm and friendly for those that are enjoying the forums/topics.
