Title: Aryd's Music
Post by: Aryd on December 06, 2013, 09:10:30 pm
So, yeah, I'm in the process of making a video game. I've been making some music loops for it, and yeah, thought you people might've wanted to hear it...

I think it was called Love...
I wouldn't know, I'm the creative designer, don't know jack-squat about coding.
Our main coder finds furries disgusting, and would most likely not talk to anyone in this community about it.  :(

Update:
Added a couple new loops and effects, such as "Can't Hide" and "Dominance".

After listening to some of them, I won't lie. Some of the tracks sound like they really don't have to be there. Like, some of the tracks sound very similar, and others aren't very pleasing to the ear, unless that's what you were aiming at. I'm going to guess you're making a 2D or a pixelated game coming from the music, because it sounds like that's what you're going for. I think the FX are pretty cool but a lot of the stuff sounds dark or atonal, and it's lacking in melodic sounds. I also find that some of the loops are far too short and could easily be tired out after a while, so I recommend that you continue to loop it but add different things happening through parts of the song, like in 'I Remember', by Deadmau5 & Kaskade.

Anyways, that's just what I think. Please don't take it super seriously and start exactly from scratch, because that's not what I'm trying to make you do with my critique. I hope it's helpful!

Well, the game is a horror game, so this songs are supposed to be dark and somewhat displeasing to hear, like an alarm. If you have it too pleasant, then well, it ruins the purpose of the song. I tried to add things along the way, like you suggested, in "Gauntlet", but I'm not sure how well that turned out. When you said that some songs sounded similar, I'll assume you were talking about "Ripped" and "Gauntlet". They pretty much are the same, but we're going to be tossing "Ripped", due to it not being able to grab your attention fast enough.

Update:
Added "Lightning Storm", in which I attempted to better follow Otty's advice.
