Organizing my model kit collection.
Trying to figure out:
a) What to keep.
b) What to sell. (Need the money. Some kits are more valuable than others.)
c) What to put in my model club's upcoming auction.

Sometimes, I look at a kit and I think, Why the heck did I even buy that when I'll never get around to building it?

Finally posted in the art portion of this forum. Hope to continue at least once a week. Probably closer to once a month. On vacation this week. Was planing to go into St. Louis to get something. Figured out it was cheaper to get the stuff shipped than to buy the gas to get there. So the stuff is in the mail. Also went yardsaling over the week end. Spent $5.50 on me and $8.00 on stuff to bring to next year's charity auction at the local furcon.

Visited a local part today. Parks been there for a good 15 to 20 years. First time going. Nice place. Lots of trees, a lake, two pavilions, public bathrooms and plenty of places to sit. A hand full of people milling about. A good place to spend about an hour or so before I go to work. Want to try my hand at plein air painting. Got a tri pod camera stand and scrap wood to throw together a travel easel. Also will make something to hold a painting panel onto the tri-pod. And something to carry the wet panel home in.

Another woodworking project. Nothing like getting complex angles wrong and having to re do parts. Working on something that hooks onto two legs of a tripod. Got the distance and the angle of the legs within the hooks. But forgot about the outside angle of the tripod. Put a mockup together before committing to the final glue up. Glad I did. The platform was drastically sloping towards the tripod. One 70+ degree angle later and the platform will be level. Also need to find out why my chop saw's blade keeps coming loose. Kinda scary working with a saw that wants to wabble. Easy enough to tighten. Just don't want to have to re tighten it every time I go to use it.

The joys of woodworking. I spend time and am extra careful to get the palette portion of the box as square as possible. Just to put it in the pre made box that's out of square. Easy fix. I shaved off less that a 1/16 of an inch off of two corners. Now I need to straighten out the palette with moisture and heat. Quickly seal it to make sure it stays straight. This piece of wood will get 12 coats of linseed oil to make it supper smooth. And oil paint resistant.

The box I'm using was an "Artist Kit" that had two different kinds of paint in tubes, color pencils and pastels. Like the one in the link. Was a gift years ago that I never used. Really cheap art tools I would not recommend. Entire set for the cost of two tubes of good paint.

Learning more about applying boil linseed oil to wood. I took the first advice I came across. Ended up with a good but unfortunately soft finish. Now I know to let it cure for a week between coats. So it's going to take four months to get all twelve coats of oil on my palette board. It was going to be some time before I wanted to paint out in public. And even though it's possible to oil paint out doors in -0 temps I'm not that willing. I can always get a piece of glass for it till the palette is ready. Not my first choice. Glass is, well, glass. Even tempered it can still break. One unplanned for gust of wind could knock the tripod over. End up with a mess to clean up.

Cleaning the house and cooking for Christmas. I'll wait till Christmas day to do the main course. Right now I can do the breads, cookies and other things that can be sealed or frozen.
