For the last several years, I've read a lot of Internet articles and message board forums on how a lot of movie studios want to bring some anime shows to life with live action movies. But most of the time, such concepts just get bogged down in talk, talk, talk, and more talk, and nothing ever gets produced. Some shows that are currently in discussion or possible pre-production are:
* Voltron
* Robotech
* Thundercats
* Gundam
One anime show which has already been made into a live action movie has been Space Battleship Yamato. The film has been a huge success in Japan. :)
What other anime shows do you think might be made into live action movies? Do you think there is any hope for more live action movies to be made, or do you think that nothing will happen and the studios will just talk and more talk, and nothing will ever get made?

Only if they do it with a Japanese cast. The mere concept of having Garret Hedlund as Kaneda is disgusting x_x

I actually don't think it's too bad a thing if they make it without a Japanese cast. They'd just have to Americanize everything....no Shia Leboof playing a character named Tetsuo. I think just the story and ideas in Akira would make a great movie.

They did a dragon ball live action. It was terrible :(

That's what I mean. You could already tell it was terrible due to an American whose name was Goku. :o

For god sakes, everyone should know that goku is not asian or white, he's a saying, therefore, sayians aren't probably asian. Even people who didn't see he show much would probably know, too.
Anyways, the only good american movies based on anime we had so far is the speed racer movie(A real mind trip. :P)and guyver 2: dark hero, but i'd definetily loved to see akira made into a movie(american or not). Also, this guy named Chris McQuarrie is already going to make an american film adaptation of yamato, but i'm guessing he's going they're going to adapt more of the english version star blazers. Who knows, i'm just saying.

My opinion... the action scenes in the new Superman movie Man of Steel show that a live action anime with fight scenes is possible, that the technology exists now.
Dragon Ball Z was the anime I watched most of the time when I was growing up. So I'd personally like to see a Dragon Ball movie that stays close to the original story.
While I haven't seen the Dragon Ball Evolution movie yet, some reviews complained about Goku being turned into a clone of Peter Parker (complete with school scenes) and how too many other changes were made.
So if a Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z live action movie could be made that stays reasonably close to the story, has good fight scenes, and keeps the animal characters too (Puar, Korin, Shenron, etc.), that could be something to get excited about.
I don't remember ever seeing Thundercats or Robotech while growing up. Some of those shows may be a little before my time. I'm curious now and will probably look it up later. If it's the action-packed kind of anime, complete with fight scenes, that would be interesting to see in a live action format.

It was a CGI movie, not live action. :(

Sorry I don't need a certificate of approval to be entitled to my own opinion, now back on topic.
You know it's a bit funny, how the Japanese make games and purely CGI movies, and the graphics are amazing, yet when they try and put CG into a Live-Action move it's horrible >w>
IE: Final Fantasy 7 Movie vs The Death Note Movies

Live action can do well for anime and cartoons, but it depends on various factors such as:
* How well the story translates to live action.
* Who is producing and directing the live action show.
* The actors you get to perform the characters.
.......etc., etc.

Exactly...I know it's not Japanese anime, but Avatar: The Last Airbender was a great example of this. Awesome series...dull movie. One of the many many reasons why it wasn't good in my opinion was that the original show had a lot of humour that just doesn't translate to real life actors (facial expressions, comedic sounds, etc...).

True.

The only ones I can think of at the moment are Fist of the North Star and Lupin III, both of which are notoriously awful, to be honest.
