When you die: Buried or Cremated?

Just curious, but when you die, how do you want your body prepared? Either a) Buried in a casket in the ground, or b) Have your body burned, then your ashes put into an urn.  Which would you choose?

Secret option 4: Don't care. I'm dead, I don't have need of my body any more. Whatever happens, it'll be for the benefit of anyone still alive who cares about me, so they can choose.

personally, i want to have my organs harvested for organ donation. then i want to be laid in a field and have a tree planted in my empty chest cavity. but, for the sake of the poll i chose cremated. i would never want to be buried, since i was a child ive had a dreadful fear of accidentally being butied alive.

I don't like being underground in general, so when you add an eternity there without sunlight or food, I don't like that thought. I also don't want to be burned alive, so when I die, I would like to have three people make sure for certain that I am dead, then shoot me in the head just in case, then burn my body and let it go with the wind. Or put me into orbit. That would be cool. Oh! Before I get burned, take any valuable organs that could still be functional, then throw me in the oven.

I see little point in buying a wooden box for your dead carcass that costs more than a car.

I often say "When i die, you can send my body over the falls in a canoe for all i care." It's what they did in native american traditions, and quite frankly i wouldn't mind that. Send my remains out to sea on a canoe and plant an apple tree in my honor or something.

cremated (after spending awhile to be 100% sure that there is no brain function)

and ashes go where ever they would not be in one place (ocean, large open natural area)

so pretty much any way that would make it seem as if i never existed. (dont like being noticed/remembered by anyone not close to me)

Cremated. It's cheaper than being put in a casket and being buried. Not sure what exactly I'd have done with my ashes. I've always had a fascination with aviation and the military. It would be kinda cool to have my ashes dropped from the bomb bay of a fighter or bomber and the ashes scattered in the winds.

I really don't care. After a few thousand years it wouldn't matter anyway. Unless someone wanted
to look at my bones or whats left of them.

It will be up to my relatives or the state anyway. Because I won't care after I am dead. 

It seems rather silly to me to spend thousands of dollars on fancy caskets to bury a body that
will end up as dust one way or another.  Those sealed versions will likely start leaking in a few
decades or less.  If you want to keep a body from contamination and decay, freeze dry it and
seal it in lead  with dry nitrogen . It will be good for centuries, or perhaps longer, at least till
someone or thing digs it up.

I am a Navy man so I do have VA burial benefits. I thought of having my ashes  put in a test  exercise missile or  but on a cylinder attach  stubby wings and a hook and shoot me off the catapult  on a aircraft  carrier.
The truth is I want to be buried at sea on  a US Navy Ship .

Lol, but if that somehow doesn't work out I'd rather have my remains be cremated, I'll take up less space and I can be carried around. A viking funeral would be cool, too. We gave my grandfather a semi-viking funeral by setting fire to a really small boat with his ashes in it and sending it down the river behind his house. They told me to bring the boat back after a while when it got stuck on a rock

Actually it probably would be good to compost bodies for fertilizer. We are mostly
food for microbes anyway. Why not feed the soil microbes with our remains. Of
course those who die of some dangerous disease should be incinterated anyway.
Human and animal feces make excellent fertilizer when properly processed.

I read when the Europeans first found the Egyptian mummies. Thousands were
burned for various purposes. To make steam or what ever. I am sure the ancient
Egyptians never expected their bodies ending up as ashes on some furnace floor.

I would want to be buried in the tradition of the ancient Egyptians. Have my body embalmed,  wrapped for preservation and wearing my partial fursuit and ren outfit. I would want to be buried not into the ground, but in a sealed stone room, placed on a stone table within my coffin. A thick glass window with a switch for an LED light so my family can look at my coffin whenever they want to visit me. Have some of my favorite items placed in that room, along with flowers. The room would be sealed off and all air vacuumed out. Have a nice little speaker system both outside and inside to pipe in soothing music for those outside my tomb and for my soul to listen to.

I'd let animals have my body one mans flesh is another animals dinner may as well make sure something useful is done with me I suppose (apologise if it's a bit morbid just the circle of life)
