Having a furry mate now, I'm not sure I could have a non-fur any more. It's just too wonderful sharing that with each other. I think a relationship would start to feel pointless if I had to completely suppress that with someone else. Well I hope I don't have to deal with the possibility of looking for anyone else. I'm so happy with what I've got now.

My husbands a fellow wolf soul and admits it, though dosent consider himself furry. Still acts it, and still knows hes a human physically. Thats good enough for me.

Definetly a fur mate. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't blow off a human mate, But I believe furs have much more open minds and are usually freindlier people.

It doesn't matter as long as they understand that, well, I'm a fur.  They can be into it if they want, but anthropromorphism is a big part of my interests as of this post and if they don't like it (or my art, for that matter) then to hell with them.

I'll prefur a furry mate.  I think it may be more fun to have a Furry to be a mate.

Null vote here partly since I'm not thinking about it right now anyway, and partly since I don't think "fur" and "human" are mutually exclusive - I'm both, after all. '<img'> Pretty much agree with Silverhair, though - what would be much more important in any mate would be that she understood my furriness, since that I can't change.
Hazel considered this lot briefly, but it beat him.

I have had both furry and non-furry mates (and I refuse to separate furries from humans, as all furries *are* human.) To answer your question...I honestly don't mind. Whether someone is furry or not makes little difference when you love them.

I can't stress enough how much I agree with you here. It's always struck me as silly (in a bad way) when furs refer to other people as "humans."

Anyway, I'm dating another fur. It's great, and I dunno how well it would be going if he (or I, for that matter) weren't furry. It isn't something that's an absolute requirement for me, but it's certainly a nice addition.

When I originally saw the post, I assumed that we were being asked if we would prefer a mate who was a furry, as in physically anthropomorphic, or a human. In that case, furry would be greatly prefered, but I obviously wouldn't just ditch my boyfriend cause some furry guy showed up.

I would prefer a fur mate, but I wouldn't blow off a human as long as they could accept me being a furry.

I've experienced both and it is nice being with someone who you can share that part of yourself with.  *Chuckles*  My current mate and I often refer to each other as Miss Kitty and Mr Skunkie when we talk.

However,  the main thing with any relationships is to have and foster shared interests and experiences.  For most of us, furry is but one aspect of our lives and there area many other areas that a relationship can be built upon.

I've learned first hand the importance of fostering and maintaining shared interests.  My soon to be ex-wife and I stopped working on finding and keeping things in common over four years ago and our relationship deteriated quickly over those years until we were nothing more than roommates living in the same house.  There were other problems that led to the situation, but the lack of things in common when we actually looked at the relationship and saw how broken it was helped in the decision to separate.  It just didn't look like there was a strong foundation to rebuild upon.

I of course agree with everyone who says you can't separate furry and human.  We are all human, it's just that we have a love / indentification with anthropomorphic characters as well.

Well, I'd rather have a furry mate, and my mate is a fur, so that worked out rather well. '<img'>

Or, if the intended question was if I would rather have a human mate or an anthro mate, well, my mate wants to be an anthro, and I would like him to be an anthro, so I guess I prefer a furry mate again. ':p'  Of course, I wouldn't trade him away for anything, if it was a choice between my mate as a human or someone else that was an anthro.

I would have preferred a furry mate, yes, but I love my non-furry mate with all my heart and wouldn't trade him for anyone else ever.
