Tabara Cakes and Hot Spice Tea

(This was found online... It is extremely tasty, I recommend trying it, even if you are not a Dune fan)
Tabara is a Fremen dessert. It’s a sweet cake made of a mixture of cooked and mashed tabaroot, honey and spices pressed into a dish. Then sprinkled with sugar, dried seeds and crystallized fruit.
It’s served with fruits and hot spiced coffee or spiced tea. :D

Tabara cakes:
1 large Tabaroot (if these are not available in your  sweet potato or yam is an acceptable substitute)
1 cup flour
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ginger
3 eggs
1 tbsp Rum (originally Kirana brandy but who can afford that? :( )
1/2 cup milk
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 tsp baking powder
nuts and fruits

1. Preheat the oven to 350 and butter and flour a pie plate
2. Cube, boil and mash the root into a paste.
3. Mix in flour, spices and rum.
4. Beat in eggs, baking powder and half the brown sugar.
5. Pour into the prepared pan.
6. Sprinkle with nuts, dried fruit and the remaining brown sugar
7. Bake for 20-30 mins (until a toothpick comes out clean)
8. Serve hot or cold
Hot spice tea or coffee :
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp cardamom
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp ginger
1/8 tsp cayanne (optional)
1 tbsp coffee grounds or black tea leaves
4 cups water
1/2 cup sugar

1. Put all the ingredients in a sauce pan and simmer for about 30 mins
2. Serve hot with milk. Extra sugar can be added after to taste.
The spiced tea/coffee can be stored in the fridge for about a week.
