Corel Techniques

I thought i would make a separate thread for this question. I use Corel Photo-Paint for my works. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to clean up a picture better using this program. I use Corel Photo-Paint 9, dont have 10 yet. But what i mean is taking a scanned image and making the lines more smooth and less 'sketchy' like, getting rid of specks all over. I really dont want to ink my images in my sketchbook cause i always go back and alter them. Can anyone help with use of Corel and another method i can do clean-up easier?

Well, what I usually do when making pencil sketches digital, is put the scanned image on one layer, and trace over the original. This also results in generally smoother lines, since sketches tend to be... sketchy, you know:) Anyways, if you don't want to redraw the whole thing, you can just play around with levels like contrast and all that. I'm not sure what tools Corel photo-paint has. I personally prefer to use Corel Painter.

Hmm i may try retracing it and see how that goes. Dont have Corel Painter, i only have Photo-Paint, Draw, Trace, and Texture. Nice to meet you '>

Well that's didn't work too well. I tried retracing but the lines game out super jagged with Photo-Paint.

Hrm... Well, it sounds like Photo-paint isn't a drawing program so much as a photo-manip program. You may want to consider getting Painter or something similar, if you're going to do a lot of digital stuff. I absolutely love Painter8, and hereby tender my biased opinion that you should try it, too '>

Oh, btw... do you have a tablet, or are you using a mouse? I kinda assumed the former. If you're using a mouse, it'd come out pretty jaggy on most programs (afaik).
