Title: Spring 2004 - New Art
Post by: Ulario on March 27, 2004, 08:29:37 pm
Well, it's finally starting to ACT like spring here.  :D

Savannah Magick

Not as detailed as I would liked... but I like this guy, so I'm uploading him anyways. Maybe it's because I like the coloring, or maybe it's because I have a thing for dreadlocks, I dunno. Anyways, he dosen't have a name yet, but I'll do another pict of him when he gets a name.

Maggie May

My end of an art trade with Maggie May.

Great stuff. :) I also like Maggie's picture a lot, especially how you shaded the ribcage and the waist.

Cassie the Rock And Roll Vixen

Paid commission done for Earl Bacon (Foxonian).  I believe it's my best coloring job to date.  I pretty much had to pull out my full arsenal of tools and tricks to complete it.  :)

Kairerien

Kairerien the pygmy falcon.  Once apon a blue moon, this was one of my TLK roleplaying characters.

Even with my equine bias, I'd say the picture of Cassie is the best of the bunch. Great coloring job indeed! I noticed that you used a heavy black for the gradients and cast shadows in this pic, and in Maggie's. I think this worked better with the dark stage than the sunny outdoor setting.

(And is it me, or is Kairerien's pic a thumbnail?)

Yeah, your right, it was a thumbnail.  It's fixed now.

I've been coloring a lot of old piccies.

Poppa Dragon

Unlike a lot of people, I don't see dragons as monsters.  In the words of someone on DA,

Quote
An another proof that what the Mankind calls "monsters" and "anything that they don't consider human" are not what they're said.
I even think if a dragon would find a baby, whatever species he is, he would adopt it regardless of the differences

Deer-Taur Family

I dunno, I guess I was just in the mood to make cute things.

Regal Gryphon

I finally did a real media piece.  Yay!  Prismacolors on black artgrain paper.

Oh, and a few commissions.  These were t-shirt designs done for my parents since their going on the Tail of the Dragon Tour.

It's the same pict, just different colors.

Green Dragon

I think they are ALL fantastic! If I had to choose one as a favorite I would have to say at this moment it would be the 'daddy dragon' since WS's sister just had a baby a few weeks ago and his brother-in-law is always holding the baby and they fall asleep together. Very fatherly and attached to the little miracle! (smiles)

It looks like your singing character?

Love those wings! (smiles)

Heh, I thought it looked like him too... without the arched nose anyways.  :P  I guess I've gotten so used to drawing him that every bobcat I draw ends up looking a bit like him.  :D

Anyways, I like how the wings too.  Especially the silver lines.  The customer seemed to be pleased as well.  :)

Alexander - Guitar Design

A quickie that I did for two reasons:

1.  Designing one of Alex's guitars.
2.  Practicing musicians in actions.

I may do more picts of Alex later.  He's fun to draw, and has a certain "bad boy" attitude that mose of my other characters seem to lack.

Gryphon-Taur Mage

Mio Ravenhart conjures up a cloud of holy magick.  It's been a long time since I've drawn my gryphon-taur characters.  I should draw more - I find that I can make their bodies very expressive.

Those are all very well done, Ulario! I like them all though I have to say I like the facial expression on 'Alex' the best. (smiles) He does remind me of a good/bad boy! (LOL)

If you're concentrating on practicing (guitar) musicians, here's a little tip: the left hand should be pushing down the strings on the fretboard with the tips of the fingers. (If you want I can make a little sketch of this). Right now, it looks like Cassie and Alex are holding the guitar, instead of playing it.
Title: Spring 2004 - New Art
Post by: Ulario on April 19, 2004, 10:34:27 am
My mate was complaining about something about the fret board as well... I guess that shows how musically inclined I am.  I should learn how to play, so I'll get a better understanding on how it works.

There's no need for sketches, I went out and bought a few guitar magazines.

Blue Phoenix Tee-Shirt

Blue Phoenix T--Shirt done for my boyfriend's b-day.  (John, if you're looking at this, I'm going to kill you... and no, your not getting it until June!;)

Anyways, acryllic paints and textile medium.  Not too shabby considering that it's been over two years since I've even touched acryllics.  It was kinda fun to make, I may have to run a t-shirt auction on furbid.

Class Project - Creed Tribute

My final project for my Intermediate Drawing class. I got an A on it... which is near impossible for that class, so I'm happy.

Anyways, prismacolors on watercolor paper (which is why it is so textured). It's actually pretty big (can't remember the exact measurements), so I had to take this picture with my digital camera. Some of the detail was lost with the camera, however. :(

I may have to add a new section for class projects to my website.  :)

More Commissions... All from the same person.  :)

Nicholas Marchese - Hippogriff

I really like this one.  :)

Nicholas Marchese - Snowleopard

Nicholas Marchese - Porcupine

This one was a challenge since I've never drawn a porcupine before.

Nicholas Marchese - Unicorn

And some of my own characters.

Suddah and Wives

Whew, I've never drawn so many characters in one drawing before.

Suddah, the main villain in my comic book surrounded by his six wives. Martienet, his favorite, is the one over his shoulder. Usually, lycans don't formally choose mates. The chieftan is the exception, and almost always takes several spouses.

Awesome. I really want to thank you for wanting to do one. We'll definately talk about this after AC is over. I'll have a good idea on what I want the drawing to look like. Looking very forward to having you do the commission. :)

Forest Assassin

After playing Gauntlet: Dark Legacy. I had a strange urge to draw a drider (spider centaur for you non D&D players). This is the result.

I really like how this one turned out... though I'm probably being biased since woodgrains are one of my two favorite things to color (the other being metallics).

More Commissions:

Stargazer - T-Shirt

Stargazer:  One of Chakat Goldfur's characters.  This was a handpainted t-shirt done for him.  :)

SaiQ

My end of an art exchange done for our very own SaiQ.  :)

Title: Spring 2004 - New Art
Post by: Ulario on May 21, 2004, 10:34:28 am
Finally getting around to drawing my own characters:

Smilidon Warrior

I'm trying to draw some of my chars that I haven't drawn in a while.

Reese Ma'Reth, my female smilidon warrior character.

Reese is a strong willed female. She demands respect from those around her. Respect that she has earned through the many battles (both physical and emotional). Her arm and eye were lost in battle, and were replaced with robotic parts as a reminder of the pain she has gone through in her life. She still retains her beauty, and proves that even muscular women can be sexy.

Before the Ritual

Another one of my character picts.

Omni Fe, the high priestess of her lycan clan, prepares for a religious ritual.  Nearly all of them are sacrificial, so she is probably awaiting the sacrifice.

The Summon

The summoning of Ulario Zemothe.

Did this one in about an hour in a half just because I needed an updated pict of my fursona.

Yeah, this is probably an OOC pict, because she's really bad with magick.

The High Priestess

Just a revamp of one of the characters in my comic book.

Aceneth Arcane, the high priestess of Thera. I tried to make her look like someone of great importance... almost otherworldly. But yeah, she dosen't last very long in the series.

Vrik

Mini B-Day gift for Tetra. It's Vrik, his Jenqui Explorer character from Earth & Beyond.

I would NOT want to mess with that bird in "battle cry"! He looks mad and I would hate to think what the other one did to get that birds 'attentions'!

(giggles) Yes, the stance does remind me of "De Fonz"! (LOL)

He's supposed to be mad.  The person who asked for this said that he wanted a bird giving a battle cry over a fallen friend.

LOL.  It's not anything yiffy.  I doubt it would be considering the one bird has arrows sticking out of his ribs.

I love your dragon! I think that idea worked well for you. It makes it look not so computerized? I'm not sure that is the word I am looking for though. (smiles)

"Warhorse in battle" is interesting. I think that wolf(?) messed with the wrong equine! (smiles)

Both are great pieces, Ulario! (smiles)
