What im talkin about is like having a newplace like the polling booth or general topic. I dont mean like a whole forum just one of those little sections. Where some on can post there thoughts on a subject with out worring about the others in the community gangin up one and ripen em a new one. I dont mean a place where people just troll or anything like that. Im talkin about a place for those of us who just think differently and dont agree with the others on a perticular subject. There just seems to be quite a bit of pressure to have to agree with all the other posters or not be able to post at all for fear of them all turning on u.

For Example  Hmm. I know someone with a heart would feel sorry for these people, but I don't qualify. Really though...that was just a bad place to build a city. On the coast, below sea level, in an area prone to hurricanes, that's surrounded by water on three sides. What did they expect? I swear, human stupidity knows no bounds.

He dam near got ganked for saying this but personally i happen to agree with him but cant say so cuz i dont feel like getin biched at by everyone else.

What im askin for is a place where we can post such things and not have to defend ourselves, Just be able to say whats on our minds.

It could be put in the adult section.

I don't know, it would defeat the whole purpose of a forum. I think a web site or a journal would be better places for that, and you can link them in your sig. You're still not 100% safe from other people there, but I suppose you never will be. '<img'>

Or how about posting your message and ignoring the thread from that point on? Wouldn't that have the same effect?

This has been brought up before and rejected everytime and really wouldn't add anything anyhow. No matter how the rules read it would never prevent arguements but most importantly it would waste bandwidth at a time when we're expanding and adding new services and hosting sites.

This wonderful place costs our service dedicated Shepherd a very large chunk of change each month out of his pocket to provide- he has to decide what is worth spending his hard earned money on by balancing the service provided to the cost to provide it. You can rant and rave for free in a live journal and elsewhere- Furtopia is running on WS's limited cash and donations from individuals and has to remain within it's budgeted bandwidth which is reaching it's limits constantly.

Well I must say, it is peculiar to find so many more sheep here than wolves, rofl.  But would a new section really be necessary?  Don't get me wrong, it's a luring suggestion...but I find simply thinking independently much more enlightening.  Afterall, 'the best soil for diplomacy to grow from is controversy', IMO.

Now if we could just do something about these sheep...

I second that.

I think that if you disagree with something, you shouldn't be too chicken to express your opinion just because you are amongst many who feel contrary to you.

That generally sounds like you're asking for a place where you can say whatever you want and have no one call you on it. Something you can do in a LJ or Xanga or something by turning the user commenting off. If you're not asking for that, then it would be no different than the regular forums.

Best way the whole problem can be solved is just to try to be more understanding and less judgemental to other users and their views in general. Being able to agree to disagree is worth its weight in gold.

Just as they should bid you just as much courtesy.

Remember, spiteful curses and flames aren't the only way to put someone in their place. You're online: learn the power of civil debate. Here, they can argue with you...but within the rules.  And it's always very satisfying reminding them of it, rofl.

And if no one wants to listen to the rules, there are a zillion other places out there on the net that love controversy! (spelling?)

Besides, memebers ARE allowed to discuss different views, but not argue them with other members.

Right now Furtopia is trying to raise money to help the people that have been put out of their homes etc., because of what happened.

So what if people lived there? There is no place on this earth that is PERFECTLY safe. There never will be. Some day, for those that feel that the people were stupid for building a city there/or even living there, some day, YOU too will be put in a position of danger. How do YOU want others to feel?

Have debates, but within reasons. When some disaster happens, even if you feel the people were stupid for one reason or another and don't feel sorry for them, post it in your LJ or something other than on the forums. Some times people are supposed to have compassion, no matter what.

As Sporty stated, topics like this keep being brought to our attention and they are always turned down.

Members are free to come and go as they please.

Setting up a LJ is surprisingly easy though. Feel free to PM me if you need any help.

I agree with Kada, dibate and disagreement is fine, but the way some furs are going about it is al wrong, you can't come onto the site and go. well these people are dumb and stupid. If you put it like, mabey some of them should have thought about weather before purchasing the loft. or something. But calling them stupid is egging on a fight.

This forum is awesome and LJ is very easy to set up and free for those who want to post rants about such things.

My opinion. Thats all. I'm just tired of the way some furs are acting, there is no need ot be rude and no need at all to call other opinions stupid.

Oh, I know, rofl. I couldn't help but notice how some here have a penchant for being over-subjective in their rebuttals.  When one debates, it's usually recommended to remain objective about the details (fact is fact), right?  And when stating an opinion, it's best to clarify that (because opinion is not fact). To my experience, anything not abiding by those rules usually just turns to useless irrational bickering (sooo preshool). That's what I meant by 'civil' debates.

I'm sure the last thing any of us need is more drama.  It's just there are those in this community who aren't simply logging in...but rather hoping to escape. I think a smile is what they need, not another nail in their coffin, capisché?
