« on: July 25, 2004, 11:04:39 pm »
My sister got this axelotal from another girl at her base who was getting transfered... And then the sergeant said she couldnt keep it so she gave it to me... anyway its a black one and he is so cool.. apparently they are kinda blind or something but he must be able to see some things.. cause when i got over to the tank he wanders over and comes and looks at ya...

and you hand feed him and stuff, like accautly put your hand in there with the little chucnky stuff and he sucks it out of  your fingers like a vacumm...

YAY! '<img'>

also does anyone know how much you should feed them.. cause i dont want to starve him or over feed him either

is that one of the  mudpuppy/waterdog things? The are kinda cool. I just have a Rainbow Betta named Asgard who has a profound hatred for pepsi cans.

New animal compadres are always fun and yours does sound seven shades of intriguing.

I find myself amusedly having to comment on the Pepsi thing too, I think a great deal of animals dislike things that smell sickeningly sweet.  In fact, I recall a Hamster I once shared my domocile with (whom I'd let out of his cage because no matter where he went, a curtain line and a Cheerio would lead to his retrieval) had such a disliking.  In fact, he'd quite routinely do backflips at anything that smelled sweet.  I mean it, really.  Akin to a fuzzy ball of Xena, he was.

I had a 14" Ayrowana (sp?) and an Alligator Gar that would eat goldfish from my fingers about 5 years ago. I was training the largemouth bass I had to do the same thing till I got a load of sick feeders and lost him last month. I've got to set my isolation tank for feeders back up!
Fish are more intelegent than most give them credit for, I love working with them.
