should the word Furry be capitalized?

I'm pretty sure I always capitalize the 'f' on Furry. But then again xD I dun think I ever really paid attention if I do or not. Haven't given it too much thought. Also, when I type, 'Furs'...sometimes I capitalize that, sometimes I don't...xD I think! It depends how 'lazy' I feel. But, it may be something like...to capitalize "Otaku", "Anime", "Mom", "Humans" and "Gays"...ect.? It may be like those o-o so...possibly not really for capital, but...just a preferance xD?? I type a small "f", as a word takes a split second longer to type if you have to constantly hold down the shift button for that pesky capital letter.

I suppose that one reason to capitalize furry is if you're writing a book and Furries are like some kind of tribe or their own ethnic group or something.

I think the word "Furry" should be capitalized due to the fact that it's a certain type of person and a type of art.I don't know maybe it's just me! I,for one,think that it should.If people disagree,oh well,it's just my opinion.

...could you expound on that a little bit? I can't think of any grammatical reason why that would be applicable in German, but then again I'm not all that well-acquainted with the language as a whole.

Anyway, not really, unless the word is being used as part of a proper noun (the title of the band Super Furry Animals being the first example to come to mind) or something similar. Not being a proper noun it defies the set rules of the English language (except for, perhaps, American English).

Like capitalizing 'bird watcher' as 'Bird Watcher' or something. It makes no sense.

Hm... If I use it as a proper noun I would. But I'm not really sure it could be used as a proper noun. It's not a name. A title though. Honestly, I think it could be capitalized if you want and not if you don't want. It's not really going to cause much of a fuss.

Well, personally, I think it should be since it is considered a proper sub-culture, and it's not like you are using it as an adjective, whereas it would be lower cased (e.g. the furry coat)

I remember this and I only took a quarter of German. I found it funny there would be these seemingly random capitalized words.

Everyone will hate me for this...I use the word 'anthro' instead of 'furry' unless I'm talking about the fandom. And I never capitalize the 'f', either.

I'd be inclined to use it in non-capitalized fashion most of the time. For me, it's a hobby. I don't capitalize my other hobbies when I bring them up.

However, I can see a good argument for capitalizing in the phrase 'Furry Fandom', as it's a bit more titular in this case.

Yeah I would agree, when I was messaging my friend on Facebook I was talking about the fandom, and that's how I put it. I capitalized it because the phrase is a proper noun.

Capital "F", much like Doctor Who fans capitalize the 'W' in Whovian, Hetalia fans capitalize the 'H' in Hetalians, and Sherlock fans capitalize the 'S' in Sherlockians. Fans of furry creatures have the right to capital letters too!
