Poking Fun at Furry
« on: April 05, 2013, 12:12:41 am »
Do you like poking fun of the fandom?  I know some furries get really sensitive about people making fun of the fandom.  Personally, I find it to be pretty fun.  Don't get me wrong, I love the fandom, but it has some nutty aspects, I kinda make fun of furry because I love it and all its ridiculousness and flaws.  It kinda helps me keep things in perspective also and not take things so seriously.  I do try to not make fun of any specific furs in my own jokes, but focus on stereotypes, quirks, and issues within the fandom.  I don't believe in 'fursecution', but I am against the mindset that the issues within furry are exclusive to the fandom or because of some inherent quality of furry.  I see the same strange art, etc. in all fandoms, but I do have theories about why it seems to be more obvious in furry.

Of course I like poking fun at the fandom.  :D  I like making fun of everything...it's nice to laugh at ourselves, you know?  Nothing is really "sacred" all the time, I think.

Check out this thread if you want to see some fun poking.

I think the fandom is a fun and interesting hobby. I try to respect
the feelings of others, but no one should worry about good natured
joking or kidding.

Most rabbits in cartoons are happy fun loving characters. That's
one reason I chose it as a fursona. It's a good way to laugh at
ones self. :orbunny:

If you can't laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?

But yah, as long as it's all in fun, I enjoy it.

Depends on the jokes.
Some jokes are over used and some are quite insulting.

Go for the between ^^

People who do not poke fun every now and then are the reason the fandom is made fun of! But yes, I do. Especially the drama llamas who stick their nose in someone's business and have no right sticking their nose there and then throw a hissy fit when they are told off. It happens very often too.

I've been known to poke fun at it a few times. Same with MLP. I think it's healthy to be able to step back and look at the absurdity of some of the things we do and laugh at them.

I think this is how most people:
you can make fun of it cause your laughing at yourself, but when others laugh at you, its not fun. its kinda like when you have a best friend and you insult them, and they do it right back. but neither of you care. and when some else makes fun of your friend, you're ready to back them up.

as long as they don't involve the bad steriotipes I will poke fun to but if someone has the complete wrong idea I try to set them straight or just leave them.

I don't like to poke fun at anything. But sometimes, I might highlight irony.

The fandom? Not so much. However, I do make fun of one of my closest friend for being a furry anytime he mentions anything to do with the fandom. His response is usually something along the line of "You're one to talk".

We do a rather good job of poking fun at ourselves.
"The coyote is a living, breathing allegory of Want. He is always hungry. He is always poor, out of luck, and friendless. The meanest creatures despise him. And even the fleas would dessert him for a velocipide."~Mark Twain

I poke fun at the 'art' all the time. When I do get the chance to go to a con I'd have to stay out of the adult section. I'd be the guy rolling on the floor trying to catch his breath. That stuff is hilarious.
It's been said that rats can gain access to your home by climbing up threw your toilet. I prefer to use the front door.
