Yeah, I kinda doubt it, too. Same reasons. That's what that... other wierd online dictionary is for, though most of thier furry definitions are anti-furry.

To be honest, I personally doubt [the dictionary] will pay attention to the petition. Words are generally added to dictionaries after they've come into common usage for n years.

It looks like somefur wants to have the word yiff in the Oxford dictionay. I didnt sign it because the word furry, in reference to the culture, isnt on there. So that should be adden on before yiff is considered. Becasue the defination given by the petition uses furries as a reference.

I remember being on a messageboard where the fur who started that petition went to.
Needless to say, there was huge backlash against that idea due to the very sexual nature of most of the suggested definitions.
Apparently it was made as a joke though. *shrugs*

I heard the same thing...anyway, I think it's a stupid idea. It's a Furry term that describes something furs do and all furs know what it means...why do we need the general public to know about and use it... ':dead:'

Uh.... yeah. I also think furry should be on there, before yiff.

To be honest, I personally doubt [the dictionary] will pay attention to the petition. Words are generally added to dictionaries after they've come into common usage for n years.

Any word used in a publication (book, journal -of the non-personal kind - magazine, newspaper) is eligable to be added to the OED. There is a submissions committee that actually read publications looking for words that aren't already included and new uses of old words. Submissions are made on a little form and sent in to the OED people who then process it in due time (think the backlog is a good few years long).

A word need only be used once to be eligable. If you look up words such as 'Serendipity' for example in the complete (not the pocketbook version) you'll find the first uses quoted. And I believe 'serendipity' was entered into the dictionary after being coined by an author and used once in his book.

To be honest I don't know exactly what the word 'yiff' means. I think if they put it inthe dictionary it would help alot
