This Southern California furcon is back.
Dates are May 20-23, 2005.
Info is at CALIFUR.

Last year this was a pleasant, relaxing, 'party-con'.
At this point, I hope to be there, and maybe have a dealers table again.

Not sure if I can get the time off but I will drop by the hotel lobby to say hello to any furtopian that is there. My work is in Long Beach just down the freeway from the con.

I want to go. the price to get in isn't to bad but how much it wil cost me to get there and a place to stay with my daughter will suck

i still wanna go. i gotta see ifi can find anyone out here who will give me a ride and a place to sleep. i might be able to get the money for a place... hopefully. if not then i guess its another one i have to miss.

I went to the first Califur last year....(I was the big Bunny for thoes who were there) And I have to say that the con was a bust in my opinion......so poorly ran. I hope they do better this year...though I'm not holding my breath. Even if I still lived in SoCal I probably would pass this con up.

Thought for a first effort it did pretty well.  I Have been to lots of 'first' cons including the first San Diego Comic Con (now CCI), the first Confurence, the first Zonie-con and the first Further Confusion to name a few.  I even ran a series of cons in Orange County.  Most cons start out a bit bumpy.

I was also at Califur '04.  Had a dealers table and did pretty good business.  So did Foxxfire, who had the table next to me.  Also had fun in suit... I was the party pony.  Will admit it wasn't a heavy function con... more of a party con.

Also, tend to think any furcon withing easy driving distance is worth the time.  It is just fun to hang around with furfolks for a day or two.

possibly, but anything seems like a bust when compared to the other furcon in CA (FC!!!'<img'>

but I enjoyed the pace in which it went. Found myself running to get to events a few times at FC.

Actually, Califur would be a great 'first con'.
It is more like a big furry party. '<img'>

The pacing is casual, giving you time to see more of the events and meet more furs.

Hmmmm... Well, I havn't told my parents I'm a furry yet and wasn't planning to but a con within' driving distance would be a good excuse. Maybe once my dad's ex-girlfriend has moved out of the house and is in a better mood I'll tell him. I just hope he'll understand. I dunno, I'm not sure if I want to risk ostracizing myself over a con. That and the fact that I have little spare cash. I'll probably hit the con next year when I'm 18 but this year it's iffy.

I don't want to tell my parents either.....   I'm 23, married and living in a completely different country!!!!   I said that my husband and I were going away that weekend just for the sake of it, and some other lame excuse of its our 6 month anniversary the last day of the con.

You could just say you are staying with friends.  Oh well tell us what you decide and we can say hello that weekend if you go.

I was thinking of getting a room; but since it's $100 per night, I'm just going to commute from home to the convention which is about 45 minutes away.
