I assume he's looking at the source code for the page. Most browsers can do it. If you right click in Opera there's an option called Source (or View Page Source in FF) which will open another window/tab with the pages source code in it.

Yeah... I noticed a strange anomaly in the source code; a segment mentioning that the thread was locked and no replies could be made... even when the thread was not locked.
Here; I'll edit it in here in just a moment.

"Warning: topic is currently/will be locked!<br />Only admins and moderators can reply."

With further investigation, it turns out its in the edit/reply pages (along with other notices) but dummied out until its needed, which is... not how I'd have programmed it. It's not really all that important though.

It's nothing to worry about; it normally isn't active except when... the thread really is locked; it's just hidden away in there.
They just programmed the board to work like that, and messing around with it is more likely to break something than not... :D
I was just commenting on how its not the way I'd have programmed it.

Hmm,  i'm curios as well,  are you just trying to get a comment to show up in the page-source?

SMF,   PhpBB,  mybb,  and pretty-much everything else worth even looking at will convert basic important HTML characters to escape characters,  in this case &lt; and &gt;

Maybe i'm really missing the point?

I simply experimenting with the appearance of some dummied out code.
