The pictures you posted didn't show because you got the wrong URL, though you got the image tags right.

Usually an image URL ends in ".jpg" or ".png" or whatever type of picture it is.
If you're using ImageShack, the easiest way to get the right URL would be to copy and paste the link under the "Links to share this image" column; more specifically under "Direct url" if you don't want a thumbnail.
Another method would be to right click and click "Copy Image Location."
