Some of you may remember more clearly, but those of you who don't, you get a rude awakening as a wave washes over the deck of The shameful hanged. Your last memory was that of a smoky tavern, and a lot of drinks. And a call for a crew that you signed.
It's not a ship you've heard much about if you've heard about it at all, not out of mystery, but rather a lack of importance. Either way though, you look to be far out into open water, and you aren't THAT good at swimming, so for the time you're stuck here. It's not so bad. The sun is warm, the waves are calm, and a good wind fills the sails. One of the crewmates is going around waking people up, he's an otter, fairly large, but his muscles ripple from his long life aboard the ship. "Oy, yer, already awake? Well, get up, yer not gettin paid t' be a barnacle"
Jager, you've been ordered to pilot the ship until the navigator is awake and ready, then leave it off to another crew member while the two of you meet up with the captain.
Shift, you've been ordered to report to the first mate...whoever that might be.
Foxy, you've been ordered to report to the ship's carpenter and get underway with whatever he tasks you with for the time being, until the navigator summons you.
Jack dawson, you've been ordered to find the gunner and assist him.
Gorrum, you've been ordered down to the galley, where the cabin boy will assist you in familiarizing yourself with the galley and help get dinner started.
All of you have been ordered to NEVER disturb the captain, unless you have orders to do so, or are the first mate.

Shift lets out a grunt and tilts his head to the side, letting out a sigh as his neck cracks as he looks around the open layout of the ship. Noting as all the other new crew members get around to what they are supposed to, he steps away from the railing and looks around "seeing as they were already at see, and the captain had orders out to not be disturbed, i am going to assume the first mate is handling the ship" he thinks to himself. with a nod he steps forward and walks along the length of the boat to the helm of the ship.

Jager's unwavering, unsettling red gaze calmly moved over the ship as the crew as they stirred to life and began on their tasks, finally settling on Shift as he approached. "The captain is waiting to speak with us." He said in a voice like silk, well spoken for a pirate. He motioned Timothy over with one hand. "you, hold the helm steady until we return. If we go off course at all, I'll personally see to your punishment."

Timothy squeaked in surprise, almost dropping the sack of potatoes he was struggling to drag across the deck "S-sir, I've already been ordered t' elp th cook" he looked nervous about questioning the order.
(as a side note, all the characters named in the OOC aren't the only crew on the ship, you can order an unimportant unnamed character to fill your post)

"Be on your way, then. Quickly." Jager said with a chuckle, waving dismissively in Timothy's direction, and waving another crew member over. "you. Did you hear what I told him?"

"Yes sir, I'll take the helm" He was a shortish, but stout and wide otter "i won't disappoint you sir but ah...When will we see the captain? I don't seem to recall ever meeting him"

Jager smirked at the pronoun the otter used and shook his head. "the captain will meet you when ready... You should hope it's just to meet you."

Shift chuckles softly as he watches the odd heron delegate before nodding towards him respectfully as the otter takes the helm " shall we go then?"

"Aye..." Jager said, leading Shift to the door of the captain's quarters and knocking. "Captain, I've brought your new navigator, Herr Shift..."

Jack grumbled when he stood up. His back was stiff as stone and did not agree with him. He stretched and it popped and cracked several times, satisfying him greatly. He grabbed his hat off the floor and caught a whiff of his breath. "Never having that again," he mumbled to himself as he fastened his hat.
Once he was on the deck of the ship, he looked around for the gunner. After a few moments, he spotted him and made his way over.

Gorrum woke up steadily, his body reacting much faster than his mind but soon to catch up. He swung out of his resting place and gave a quick stretch of the arms, getting used to the new sleeping arrangements before getting a feel for the ship, looking it over and enjoying the familiar rocking of the waves and the salty air. Soon he walked down to the Galley and looked the place over, seeming satisfied with what he had to work with, he began arranging the pots and such in sometimes strange but obviously systematic ways. The knives were on the right, spoons and such on the left, pots arranged in line and fitting smaller ones, spices and seasonings lined up in view overhead, everything in a place of easy accessibility and use. With that done he set about to actually cook up some simple things, mostly prep work for a hearty yet simple stew.

A soft grunt came from inside the cabin, and the sound of muffled footsteps. A soft voice called out after a moment, almost drowned out by the normal din of activity aboard the ship "Enter, close the door behind you"

Quinn was occupied, bent over a cannon cursing repeatedly with one arm shoved down the barrel "whaddya want lad? m' busy here I am!"

"Sir, the captain's ordered me to show you around the kitchen, and t' ask you t' prepare som'thin nice tonight, t' liven up th' crew for the voyage ahead" He was still struggling with the potato sack, dragging it behind him. "I've also been ordered t' elp you make dinner"

Jager gave a nod towards Shift and opened the door, stepping aside to let him enter the room first, then closing the door behind them. "what exactly did you need both of us for, Kapitän?"

"I can see that," Jack said, eyeing the cannon. "I'm 'sposed to help ya. Whaddya need?"

Gorrum nodded understanding the gist of the order. "And did the captain order something special for himself as well?" He asked curiously. "Or should I just assume something about a man I know near nothing about?" He reworked some of the set up he had, taking a few seconds to think about what he could do with the things he was already working on. "Either way, start peeling them spuds."

wakes up late. " ah! oh." rubs head because of a headache. "what did i miss?" thinks to self, i hope not much. remembers my post and remembers everything except what i missed.

starts for the carpenters and wonders what's going to happen and what i'm needed for. knocks on the carpenter's door waiting for a response. tries to think back to what happened the night before. " what happened? i can't remember a thing from last night."

"The capn' eats what th' crew does sir! Capn' skye rarely eats a special meal, not too good for th' crew no sir!" he seems happy to help, bustling around helping, until he was ordered to peel potatoes. He was scrawny, and as he peeled, looked at the potatoes hungrily.
"I need a damn better cannon s' what I need, bloody ball is stuck an' the dang things rusted in place" he grumbled and shoved his hand deeper down the barrel "who are yeh'?"
"ah, Jager Crew's up?" she stepped out from behind her bad, her shirt slipping down just in time to make her decent "Good, I wanted to discuss plans for the voyage with you"

"the crew ist awake, yes..." Jager said with a nod, smirking at the quick save by her shirt. " let us discuss our plans, then, Frau Skye... "

"Fair enough, perfectly reasonable that be." Gorrum said with a yawn. "And if you eat sometin 'for the meal be done, tis your hide I'll tan." He lightheartedly said. "Not good to be chewing the fat 'for the main corse be done see? 'Sides, be plenty of food today, nothin that won't see use in my kitchen, 'cludin the folks in it so pay attention. I be not a man to repeat things." From there Gorrum seemed to talk aloud quietly to himself, discussing if he should take the sliced meats back out after simmering to enjoy with the bread and stew or leave it in for more flavering. "Boy, what be your name? I least like to know a fellas name if he be workin by my stove."

"The name's Jack, and you're outta luck. I don't have a cannon lyin' around." He started searching the nearby area for something stiff. After a few moments, he found an iron rod between some barrels and the railings. "What I do have though, is this." Jack presented the rod to Quinn. "Get yer hand outta that and jab it with this. Rust aint something you can get loose by pushin' on it."

He gulped, going back to peeling potatoes "M' names Tim sir" He was making quick work of the potatoes, a little sloppy, but he seemed to be somewhat used to the work.

"I know my way around a bloody cannon" He glared and took the rod from Jack hammering fruitlessly for several minutes before frowning "Aye...I really di'na want to do this" he pulled a small flask from his pocket and kissed it.

"There's a merchant ship leaving from Spain in a few days" she gestured lazily at the chart "we're behind them no matter what we do, but if luck is on our side, we should be able to sink them in the shallower waters of the islands. It's going to be a long voyage, but they're heavily laden with supplies" she frowned "there's an easier target we can go for though, an envoy from the far east is supposed to be heading to England"

"your crew ist... new at the best..." Jager said thoughtfully. "the easier target would be the best bet for them... as much as it pains me to think of passing up the loot..."

"Well Tim, while I may not be much for flapping my lips, if ye got a question then ask." Gorrum explained as he started slicing meat carefully and thinly to throw in the stew. "I won't be biting yer head off, but a stupid question be gettin a like answer." About then was the time he set some pots of water to boil. "Well less see...ah." Gorrum muttered as he grabbed some other ingredients and started cutting those.

"Oh, I'm sure you do." Jack then saw the flask. "What're ye doin with that?"

"I mean it's a harder target, but an easier voyage" She frowned "I'll have dinner with the crew tonight, you know the routine" she looked in the mirror, ruffling her fur a bit "Same as every new crew we take on, I don't want them to know it's me, and tell the cabin boy not to let it slip, other than you, he's the only crew member that's met me"

"This, this is a brew strong enough to budge the saltiest of sailors, I make it in port" he poured a couple drops into the cannon's muzzle "I don' like wasting it"

"Where are you from sir?" he was about halfway through the potatoes, making decent time on peeling them. The kid had done kitchen work before.

"ill... make sure to let him know..." Jager said with a smirk. "if he lets it slip, the sharks will be the least of his worries..." he looked over her disguise as she worked on it, nodding slowly. "das ist gut... but i will never understand why you do this... you wouldnt have to if i were captain..." at this last part, he grinned.

"I wouldn't want to waste that either," Jack said, watching curiously. He tugged on his cap, pulling it tight. He was expecting something, but didn't know what exactly. He realized just how strong the brew was when he caught a whiff of it in the breeze and he coughed once.

"Small town off the coast of Europe, close enough to smell the sea but just far enough to not make the trip likely. Horrible mix I say." Gorrum stated as he worked adamantly on the crews food. "Worked as a fisherman as a young man meself, uncle tought me ye see? Quite strict and hard but never unfairly so, good man. What bout you Tim? What crux of fate led ye on this path?" He looked over and quickly checked on the boy's progress, nodding lightly, seeming to be satisfied with the work so far. "When you be done with them spuds, chop em up a bit...not too small, most like to know it's there."

"mmm, I like being captain, I want to lead my crew, but I don't like all the "yes mam no mam"...I enjoy leading the crew without being over them...except when I need to" she sighed. "Besides, if you were captain, I wouldn't be in this room, and I enjoy my privacy" she smiled at him "you know, you could spend more time in here."

After a moment, he pulled a flint and steel from his pocket and stood with his face away from the cannon, flinging sparks down the barrel until the cannon went off. It wasn't anywhere as strong as a normal blast, but the sound cracked the air and the small cannon fell over, ball rolling out of the barrel. "Y'were told t'help me out right?"

"I'm from Leeds..." he smiled "They wouldn't let me stay in the orphanage anymore, and I had to find a job" he started slicing up the potatoes "I worked in a kitchen for awhile, but I had to leave...I was at one of the docks when I ran into the cap'n, got the job here on the ship"

"i may have to take you up on that offer..." Jager said with a wink. "i think, though, if i were captain, you would be in this room more often than not... or am i mistaken? however, as i am not captain as of yet, you will keep this room... did you need my assistance with your... disguise?"

"Nobody said life was fair or kind, but nothing to do but play your hand as best ye can." Gorrum said to Tim before he looked around a tad, thinking he heard a booming sound in the distance. "Hmmm...tis me imagination i suppose..." he quietly said to himself as he refocused on his task. "Soon as we get this batch set I want the other one half done, no sence in making too little with a hungry crew round, specially when we be working on the morale for their voyage to wherever we're heading. I don't know, me job be to cook not navigate. Sides...best part bout cooking is you can get any leftovers fer yeself. If there be any left anyway."

"Yeah." He moved to the other side of the cannon to get ready to put it back the way it was.

"Like I said, I like being on top" She nestled he hat between her ears, looking in a mirror before frowning and taking it off. "What kind of assistance are you offering? We have some time before dinner"

"Was that a cannon?" his larger ears swiveled to the door. before he snapped back to what he was doing "Right, yes sir" his stomach grumbled loudly "How long do you think it'll be?"

"Atsa good lad, I really just need elp with this, cleaning out a few of the other barrels, and taking stock of the powder room"

"whatever help you may need, of course..." Jager said with a sly smile, moving closer to her. "of course, it doeant have to be with your disguise..."

"No more than 7 minutes after we toss in them there taters." Grorrum said with a soft sigh, cracking his fingers from all the knife work. "Jus toss em in and wait then. You'll taste test, and if ye survive, then it's good eatin." He joked with a sly grin. "Nothing to it. Sides, a growin boy needs some food to fill his belly."

He cracked his neck, squat down and firmly held the side of the cannon. "On three?"

"If that's the case, then...could you lock the door and come over here?" she climbs on top of her bed, a beautiful canopy bed, and dims the lanterns before closing the curtains on it. Her silhouette can be seen removing her clothes.

"Thank you sir!" he seems enthusiastic about taste testing. in his rush, as you turn away you here a hiss of someone in pain having sucked in their breath quickly. Looking over, you can see he's sliced the side of one of his fingers.

"Right" he heaves, and the pair of you manage to get the cannon back on it's mount "Right, one down, seven more t'go"

"of course..." Jager said with a chuckle, moving to the door with long smooth strides and locking it, then returning to the bed and parting the curtains, kicking off hus boots as he got in with her.

"Ah, well that there be rather unfortunate." Gorrum said as he grabbed a bottle of strong liquor and a clean rag. "Best get that wrapped up." He commented while using the rag as a cork and quickly turning over the bottle. "Don't want that gettin infected, gonna sting like fire though." He said, walking over with that and a thin clean cloth. "Wipe it down best ye be able, bite on a wooden spoon if need be, better than it getting infected."

"They all rusted like that?" Jack asked. He isn't lazy, but he's not exactly a fan of cannon tipping.

She strips her pants off, before snuffing out the lantern completely as he climbs on to her bed. (leaving the skip up to you)

He grabbed the alcohol shakily, pouring a splash on to his finger as tears well up in his eyes. it looks bad as far as small injuries go, but he'll be fine

"Nay, at were the worst of em, oi always start wit' th' worst" he moves along to the next cannon, handing Jack a rough wire brush and picking his own up "Jus' scrub out th' barrel, i'll get this one over 'ere"

"Thassa good way of doin' things," Jack said as he grabbed the brush and began furiously scrubbing the inside of the barrel. Not angrily, just working with extra oomph.

"Well...stews about done anyway." Gorrum said lazily. "So there be not much need for us until cleaning need be done." He took one of the large pots and set it aside for easier handeling later. "Wrap that up and see if you can pick up the other one, and if ye can't...well just bring along some bread and I'll make the trip meself." He looked out the door briefly before thinking to himself. "Better get it started...a hungry crew more likely to be upstarting than a well fed one." He grabbed the bigger of two pots of stew and carefully made it to the door, pausing briefly. "After getting the bread, notify the captain, wouldn't want em to miss out himself." With that, he proceeded to the deck and set the pot somewhere sturdy and unlikely to be nocked over, careful so that any possible heat wouldn't damage anything. "Get it while it's hot fellas!" He announced before heading in, grabbing plenty of bowls and some spoons and piling those neatly nearby the stew.

Quinn grinns as the cook called out for dinner, dipping his paws in a bucket of saltwater to rid them of the flakes of rust in his fur before clapping Jack on the back "C'mon that'd be our cue t' give her a rest fer now lad, 'ope y' worked up an appetite"

Jager, as you finish with Skye, light floods the cabin as someone comes in then turns up one of the lanterns before freezing, seeing the pair, and what they'd obviously just finished doing. His eyes are drawn instantly to her backside as she's bent over. She shoots him a venomous glare and makes no move to cover herself. "You WILL knock from now on"

Timothy nods and grabs the pot with some difficulty, taking it up to the deck and struggling with it. After he finally gets it set down, he heads to the captains quarters, scampering out blushing madly. He's followed after by a female crew member, a short rabbit, and the first mate. After a nervous look back at the first mate he stammers out "T-the captain is feeling ill, He uh...he won't be joining us for dinner tonight Mr. Gorrum."

Jager grabbed his gun and leveled it at the intruder, drawing the flint back with a sneer. "if you ever interrupt again, i will pull the trigger." he shook his head and decocked his gun, then quickly got dressed and followed the crew out of the room.

He pulled his paw out of the barrel, and set the brush on the deck next to the cannon. "A bit yeah," he said as he stood up. He was almost finished cleaning this one. He peered at his paws for a moment and realized just how rusty they'd gotten. He swished them around in the saltwater barrel and wiped them on his pants, then caught up with Quinn to get some food.

Gorrum looked around a bit at everyone quickly, thinking a bit before speaking. "Well...not good for the cooks to be hanging about the ill, spreads it around like wildfire...eh, first mate, care to deliver some, does none good for the ill to go without, even if they can't quite keep it all down. Must be bad for you to come along too." He said, more addressing the first mate with the last remark. He waved the boy along as he headed back into the kitchen. "Get sometin to eat while I clean up a bit, ye look half starved."

Quinn sits down, gesturing for Jack to sit beside him, with the ships doctor to his right. "Aye, ave a sit right here lad"

"Actually sir, th' first mate said he wants me an' you to eat on deck, seated beside him" He seems nervous, and a little fidgety, but that seems somewhat normal for the tiny mouse."Th' captain also said...that he'd eat later"

Skye sits quietly motioning for the first mate to sit on her right, across from the doctor, while she sat across from Jack. There was an empty seat directly beside her which Timothy avoids, leaving for Gorrum

Jager gave a slight nod to Timothyand sat beside Skye, folding his hands over his lap as he looked over the table of crew members. he slid his chair in farther and slipped a knife partially out of his sleeve under the table.

"Whatever the cap'n say." Gorrum said with a shrug before heading back over and setting himself up a healthy meal. "Go on boy, you be half starved as it is, eat what ye can." He said before patting Timmothy on the back lightly and sitting himself down to eat in the chair besides Skye.

As Jack sat down, he turned his head so he could use his one good eye to make sure he didn't sit too closely to anyone.

Skye took her first bite nodding at Gorrum while Tim starts to scarf his food down "My compliments, Am I to assume you're the cook?"
The rest of the crew devolves into various levels of civility and table manners, but chatter is still very much a dull roar
Quinn claps jack on the back "Ahhh assa good meal today lad, I'll tell ya, i've been on ships wit' worse cooks"

"Aye, I be the cook of this vessel now, made some use of the boy though, no layabouts in my kitchen." Gorrum said before stabbing his fork into a chunk of potato and eating it. "Hmmm...not too bad..." he mumbled to himself. "And what be your duties aboard this ship if I may so inquire?" He asked curiously. "Even in me younger days on finer ships, was rare to see a lady on board, 'sides merchant man's wife."

"Oh? How bad were they?" He asked, taking a bite, then turning his head slightly toward him to see him better. Had he been sitting on the other side of Quinn, he'd need to turn his head quite far to even see him.
