I just went to the WCRA Mid-Winter Hamfest (http://www.wheatonhamfest.org/) yesterday, and as a result I came home with a whole bunch of precious treasures that are filled with magic and wonderment! Some of my purchases there included:
- A 4-port VGA Video Splitter and Enhancer!
- A Cisco 1900 series 10baseT Ethernet switch!
- A Cisco serial console cable!
- Assorted Linksys 100baseTX Ethernet switches!
- A boxed copy of IBM OS/2 Warp version 3 and a huge bag of assorted software for it!
- An external USB CD burner!
- An unopened factory-sealed box of vintage CD caddies! (Does anyone remember back when CD-ROM drives used caddies? As a vintage computer collector, I still have some CD-ROM drives that do! :D )
- And my most amazing find of all, an unopened factory-sealed box of 8-inch floppy disks! That's right! 8-inch! If you thought that the 5.25-inch floppy disks were as big as they came, then prepare to have your mind blown and your consciousness brought to a higher plane of existence! The 5.25-inch floppies of the 1980's are actually more properly known as mini-floppies, and the formerly ubiquitous 3.5-inch floppies were known as micro-floppies. To have an actual floppy disk without the "micro" or the "mini" in front of it you need to be rockin' one of these large 1970's-era 8-inch floppy disks! Now if I only had a disk drive that used them... :D
- Other assorted pieces of wonderful inexpensive junk!
If none of this stuff sounds incredibly amazing or wonderful to you, you're actually not the only one. Unfortunately, even I have to admit that pickings at the hamfest were slim this year. Normally when I go to a hamfest there are at least one or two things that I see that are "I have got to have this!!!" items. For example, last year at this very same hamfest I found an in-box Commodore 64C computer, a 1950's Bakelite "Police Alarm" police band FM vacuum tube-based tabletop receiver, and a book on laser holography. Now those are things that I can really get excited about! :) This year however there just wasn't really anything there that got me all that excited. And on top of that, it seems like the attendance to this hamfest seems to be significantly dwindling from year to year. I don't know why, but even though the total number of ham radio operators in the U.S. have increased year after year for the past three years, attendances at pretty much every hamfest that I go to have dropped steadily across the board for the decade-and-a-half that I have been going to them. Some are literally half the size that they used to be, and that is really a shame, because along with furry conventions, hamfests are one of the few events that I look forward to attending year after year. Oh well, maybe I will find some better stuff when I go to my next hamfest in May! :)

A Casio Data Bank CA53W-1 Calculator wristwatch (http://www.casio.com/products/Watches/Databank/CA53W-1/), so I can rock it like it's 1983! Yeah! I can now do arithmetic on a computer attached to my wrist, dudes! The future is now! :D
Some other not quite as totally awesome things that I bought with along the wristwatch today include:
- A DVD set of 9 episodes from the 1983 animated series, Dungeons & Dragons (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfif5DiGMYc), which I can watch while wearing my rockin' Casio Databank calculator watch!
- The My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic "Adventures in Ponyville" DVD (http://www.equestriadaily.com/2011/10/new-fim-dvd-showing-up.html) so that I can get my daily Cheerilee fix! Cheerilee also rocked it in 1983, apparently! (http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110801004145/mlp/images/2/2d/TeenageCheerilee.png)
- The Dreamworks "Puss in Boots" Double DVD pack, which actually came with a little Beanie Baby of Puss in Boots! Awww! Adorable!
- Some more Dreamworks love in the form of the Penguins of Madagascar: Operation Get Ducky DVD. What can I say, the character Marlene the otter (http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101220234012/penguinsofmadagascar/images/0/04/Marlene-smiling-in-oatmeal-marlene-the-otter-16097344-609-455-1-.jpg) is kind of a looker!
- Three refill spools of black embossing tape for my beloved Dymo "Organizer Xpress" embossing label gun. I gleefully use this label gun to label all of my computers with their names, and when you have a collection of over 90-computers you go through a lot of embossing tape! But hey, if it means that I can name two Rackable C1001 rackmount servers "Rarity" and "Twilight Sparkle," a SGI Indy "Spitfire," and a Sun SPARCstation 5 "Wonderbolt" and have them all actually labeled so that I can tell which ones that they are then buying a little bit of embossing tape every now and again is more than worth it! :D
If those recent purchases aren't mind-blowingly incredible enough for you, I also went back to the WCRA Mid-Winter Hamfest (http://www.wheatonhamfest.org/) this year! For those of you who don't remember, I also listed all of the cool stuff that I bought at the hamfest in this thread last year (http://forums.furtopia.org/index.php?topic=40716.msg784642#msg784642). This year I bought *way* too much weird but incredible stuff at the hamfest to text-wall this thread with, so if you are interested in reading a detailed account about my trip to the hamfest along with a list of all of the fascinating treasures that I unearthed there, you can find it posted at my Foxee Animatronic Robot Project Blog here:
http://www.robotfox.com/ (http://www.robotfox.com/)
It involves a MFJ-1278 Multi-Mode Data Controller with Multi-Gray Level and 2400 MODEM, and a digital camera that actually saves its photos to floppy disk-- you won't want to miss out on reading about that!!!

Last Sunday I went to the Glenside Color Computer Club's (http://glensideccc.com/) 2012 CoCoFEST (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=huF2OxgFzY8). What's a CoCoFEST, you ask? It is a vintage computer convention centered around the Tandy/ Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRS-80_Color_Computer) line of 8-bit home computers which were sold from 1980-1991. This was my very first time going to this particular vintage computer convention, and I had a lot of fun buying a whole bunch of "CoCo"-related stuff for myself, including:
- 4 Full-Height CoCo-compatible 5.25" floppy drives, made by various manufacturers. As for why I bought 4 of these rather large and heavy metal-cased floppy drives (they each are about the size and weight of a cinder block) instead of just one (which is all I really needed), as I often do with inexpensive questionable-condition vintage electronics I decided to apply the "Mongolian Hordes technique" (http://www.catb.org/jargon/html/M/Mongolian-Hordes-technique.html) to my purchasing strategy. In other words, since there is no guarantee that *any* of these old beat-up and in some cases slightly rusty floppy drives are still in working condition, I decided to increase my chances of getting one working floppy drive by buying 4 of them. There are members of the vintage computer collecting club that have the knowledge, tools, and expertise to repair and re-align vintage floppy drives, but as of right now I do not currently have these skills so I decided to hedge my bets by buying these fragile devices in quantity.
- 2 brand new never-opened old-stock CCR-83 Computer Cassette Recorders. Once again I only really needed one of these, but the vendor selling them told me that they cost $10 for one, but that he would make me a deal and sell me two for $12. Well, I took him up on that, and I plan to use one with my CoCo and keep the other factory-sealed in its box as a neat little collector's piece.
- 2 "Direct Connect Modem Paks for the Color Computer." While these two 300-baud modems did come in their original boxes, they are anything but new, so since they were inexpensive I applied the Mongolian Hordes technique to buying them as well.
- A TRS-80 "X-PAD." This is some kind of line-artwork digitizing pad with a stylus (think 1980's ancestor to today's Wacom tablets), which I was told was only compatible with the CoCo1 (which I do not have). You also need some other accessory that I don't have before you can actually use it. While I am not able to utilize this particularly cool-looking piece of hardware at this point in time, it was free so I still snapped it up!
- The TRS-80 Color Computer-related books, Color Computer Graphics and Introducing Your Color Computer 3.
- The following software titles: Zone Runner, Ghanabwana, Color Computer Artist, Rogue, Koronis Rift, and Color Math. Most of these are still factory-sealed in their original packaging, which is pretty awesome!
- I won a TRS-80 Color Computer 2 through the CoCoFEST's live voice auction!
- My biggest ticket item was a working Tandy CM 8 color monitor for the CoCo3, which cost almost as much as everything else that I bought put together. With that said, the monitor was in great shape so I figured that paying to get such a nice matching monitor for my system would be worth it.
- Various other computer-related odds and ends, such as a 40GB PATA (IDE) hard drive, a Logitech trackball, some various adapters and electrical components, etc.
To add to all of that wonderful goodness, I also won a fantastic door prize while I was there-- a $25 roll of golden $1 coins, which came in handy when I was bidding in the CoCoFEST live voice auction! :) As a result, all things considered I was extremely ecstatic with my purchases, and I couldn't wait until I got home and I pulled the TRS-80 Color Computer that I already had out of storage in my basement and I tried out some of this new stuff on it, well that is until I actually did...
To explain, a lot of the software and the relatively expensive monitor that I bought could only be used with a 128K or better TRS-80 Color Computer 3. That was because I was absolutely convinced that my one and only Color Computer that I owned before I went to this convention, which I bought on eBay many years ago, *was* a 128K Color Computer 3. That was also why I happily bought the 64K Color Computer 2 that was up for auction at CoCoFEST-- I thought that I was adding a CoCo2 to the CoCo3 that I already allegedly had, expanding the number of models of CoCo's that I had in my collection. However, when I pulled my original CoCo's box out of storage in my basement, in bold red letters on its side was written the following: "Radio Shack TRS-80 Color Computer 2." *facepalm* Instead of having a CoCo3 and a CoCo2 like I thought that I had, it turns out that I actually now own two 64K CoCo2's. Count on me, Mr. Absent-Minded Professor, to pull a complete boneheaded move like that! :-[ So the very pricey CM 8 monitor and nearly all of the software that I bought at CoCoFEST this year is actually completely unusable with the model of the Color Computer that I have! *sigh*
With that said, does anybody know where I could pick up an inexpensive TRS-80 Color Computer 3? It turns out that I kind of need one now! :D

I have made a whole bunch of interesting purchases recently from that magical place where dreams are made, the wondrous website of eBay! The first absolutely incredible treasure that I found on eBay was a used Sony Playstation 2 game console. What's so wonderful about a used PS2, you ask? Well, this one was custom painted to look like the character "Spitfire" from the animated television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic! The PS2 is painted bright yellow with two bold red and orange stripes, and it has Spitfire's cutie mark painted on it! As everypony knows, Spitfire is the best Wonderbolt, so this PS2 is incredibly awesome!
My second recent eBay wonder-purchase was an original animation production cel of the character "Daisy" from the 1991 Warner Bros. animated feature film Rover Dangerfield. What's that? You don't remember there ever being an animated feature film called "Rover Dangerfield?" Well, there's a pretty good reason for that. The movie basically stars the late stand-up comedian Rodney Dangerfield (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rodney_Dangerfield), only in a toned-down and slightly more child-friendly cartoon dog form, and the movie is just not very good. In fact, it's pretty darn terrible. However, the protagonist dog character Rover Dangerfield naturally gets a very sexy female dog love-interest during the course of the film, a Rough Collie named "Daisy," and she's the shining diamond in this film's rough, at least for a female cartoon animal character enthusiast such as myself!
If you take a look at this screen capture of Daisy from the film you will see what I mean:
Do you see what I am talking about? She's absolutely gorgeous! The cel that I have of her shows her sitting during a night scene, and is probably from the romantic scene in the second act of the film.
The last treasure that I purchased recently on eBay was an 18-inch tall hand-made one-of-a-kind fan plush of the unicorn "Rarity" from My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. A lot of these fan-made MLP:FiM plushes seem to sell on eBay for absolutely obscene amounts of money-- for example, a hand-held size fan-made Beanie Baby-style plush of Derpy Hooves just recently sold for $461, and a large plush of the secondary character Cloud Chaser recently sold for $1,125... I myself have watched several plushes of my beloved Spitfire sell for well over $200, which is many times over my what I could ever possibly afford to spend. While Rarity is by no means my favorite character (she's not even on my personal "best ponies" list), I saw a very nice looking fan-made plush of her going for incredibly cheap on eBay. We're talking $9.99 cheap for a beautifully made 18-inch tall plush here! It was just too nice of a piece at such a low price to just let slip by, so I figured that I would place a bid on it assuming that I would get outbid and outgunned on it in a second like I always am when I bid on these kinds of things. And while there was a bit of a bidding war and I didn't win it for $9.99, miraculously I still got it for an amazingly sane price, which is such an unbelievable happening that it must be a sign of the Apocalypse or something! :D And while Rarity may not be my one of my most favorite characters from the show I still think that this plush is truly awesome, and I can't wait until it arrives in the mail so that I can see it in person! :)
Yay me! :D

pretty fun game but if you go to buy it i would advise to have at least one friend with you. there are some parts in the game that are a lot easier with more than one person. an Earhquaker Devices 'Dirt Transmitter'. Have a VooDoo Lab's 'Proctavia' on the way as well. Looking to get some good psychedelic 60's early 70's guitar sounds. The real trick to using these effects is to run them into distortion. By them selves they sound lame.

I just signed a contract to have some trees and bushes removed. Had a storm blow threw a few days ago. Got the upper half of a very large tree laying partly on my roof. Contract is for just shy of 2K. But i'm getting rid of 5 trees. All of them dead or dying. Two of them could do farther damage to my house. Almost 2K for peace of mind is worth it.
That's what I had to buy. Now for the stuff I wanted to buy....
Guitar equipment! All fuzz pedals.
Voodoo Lab's 'Proctavia'. Because to my ears it's the closest to the original Hendrix and others used.

And one pedal that's just distortion,

City wide yard sale today! Was out and about for a good four hours. You could park in one spot and hit five or six of em.
One large tote filled with ceramic Christmas village items. $20. Out of it I have 8 buildings, a large bag of trees and a small box of figures and things. Like I need to make my Christmas village larger. :D This expands my structures to 52. If I clump all the figure in a pile. The trees in another it comes out to $2 a 'thing'. This is how i've built my village. On the cheap Because paying $15 to $30 a building is nuts.
Four piece Kenwood stereo system. Tuner, cassette deck, amp and multi disk player. $10. Haven't tried them yet. My all tube HK stereo amp needs new tubes. That's going to cost a fortune. Hoping this Kenwood amp is good.
One large solid styrofoam Jack-O-Lantern. $1. Collect old Halloween stuff too.
Metal briefcase with two locks. Unused so I can set the locks to whatever I want. 1,2,3,4,5,6,...... Plan on using this for guitar equipment as needed.
Tackle box with content. $2 This thing stinks. Will have to clean it up a bit before I bring it into the house. Not a fisherman. I'll use it to keep specialty tools or items in.

Went out today and did a bit of my own Christmas shopping for myself. I had two coupons (Plus my B&N membership.) to Barnes & Noble, and also two coupons to Kohl's.
So I bought the 2-disc Blu-Ray 30th Anniversary Edition of the movie "The Right Stuff" which also includes a small 40 page booklet. John Glenn's passing kinda reminded me that I used to watch this film long ago and I really liked it. :)
Also picked up the 2-disc DVD Platinum Edition of the sci-fi/fantasy movie "Pan's Labyrinth" which is supposed to be really good, and is from director Guillermo del Toro.
And from Kohl's, just bought a new winter hat and a new long sleeve sweatshirt. I had hoped to use my Kohl's coupons instead for a new pair of boots. But the brand/style I like won't be back in stock again till maybe after the 1st of the new year. :(

Today I bought brand new. A temperature probe, a stand alone thermometer, larger chimney charcoal starter and two boxes of extra large heavy duty aluminum foil. Bought used from a few thrift stores. Huge BBQ tongs, spat and fork. A very heavy duty pan to use as a drip pan. One small loaf pan that will be used as a water pan. Tomorrow I'm picking up a brand new Weber Master Touch 22-in Kettle Charcoal Grill. This will replace my old Webber bent out of shape and legs falling off grill. I got this grill really cheap at an auction years ago. It will go to a good new home soon. I learned how to properly cook with indirect heat on this old beat up thing. Now it's time to move to the next level. Smoked hole turkey. large low and slow beef roasts. Brisket and lots of great chicken, hamburgers and stakes. Gona be a smoking good summer!
-
A package of frozen fish sticks.
-
Change of plans. Didn't get the master touch Webber. Got the Premium instead. The MT had features I didn't want and cost $50 more. I was able to buy the only feature the MT i wanted separately. It was $15. So I saved $35 and got exactly what I want. Also got some wood chips for smoking. Most folks don't know but you need to soak them in water so they don't burn up as fast as cardboard. I got a bag of apple and one of pecan. I can get all the hickory, oak and maple for free. Got friends that cut wood.
-
A Michigan Lotto 47 Easy-Pick ticket.

Friday, A Makita 7 1/4 inch circular saw. A Makita 1/4 sheet palm sander. One Diablo 60 tooth fine cut 7 1/4 saw blade. Whet to an auction and got a small metal table with fold down sides. Too bad "some" of the newer generation of young adults and kids don't understand or do that. All they know how to do with their hands is press buttons when playing video games. Where's the "creativity" in that? :P

Was off work today so I went to an auction tonight. Ended up getting six heavy stainless steel pots and pans with lids. One really old but equally has heavy ceramic on steel small pan and a few odds things i'm not sure what to do with. This was all in for one money. Paid $8. for the lot. Of the pans five are Leyse, one is two small to worry about. Who needs a pan that will only hold three cups of water?? No idea what brand the ceramic on steel one is. But it is really old. There's an auction on Ebay for the 11 1/2 skillet I now have. And one just like it that sold for $22. So not a bad hall after all. I also ended up with two really heavy glass mixing bowls and some Corning wear lids. Not worried about the lids. Paid $2 for the awesome heavy bowls.
Why am I switching over to stainless steel and getting away from non stick or aluminum? First aluminum will transfer a metallic taste to acidic foods. Like tomato sauce or anything you cook with wine. Secondly non stick for flavor sucks. People should re learn the lost art of deglazing a pan and the awesome flavors you get. I still use one non stick. For eggs.
-
I still use one non stick. For eggs.
Yeah, I hate cooking eggs on anything that sticks. I have found that olive oil works great, but none of the places I've lived have had burners that are level, so inevitably one side is deep fried while the other bonds with the metal.
I bought a title (in the correct state) for my truck. :)
Before that I bought a bottle of Gumout for my brother.

I'll be doing a lot of cooking this week so lot's of food items. Going to be making a large French apple tart, a few home made pies, bread and hopefully this year my cinnamon buns wont be the disaster buns they were last year. Christmas gifts. And I'll be picking up a kerosene heater for my work shop. So I'll be able to continue woking through the cold weather.

Those lack any chrome-plated plated bore or gas piston. So either avoid corrosive surplus ammo or clean thoroughly if you do. Some parts do not interchange with standard SKS rifles. And only use blanks to launch any rifle grenades. Sometimes rubber practice types can be found from milsurp vendors.
A small coke at the BK.

I removed the importer mark from my guns and redo the finish on them. I just picked up a Yugoslavia M-59/66A1 SKS with grenade-launcher...

They are reliable rifles. Bought a Chinese model with pinned barrel as a gift for a friend. They enjoy shooting it.

The 1889 is black powder and can't fire modern ammo, the 1889/96 can handle the higher chamber pressure and so they were modemazed with new rifle barrels becoming the 96/11 and using the new GP11 ammo...

I'm officially giving up on watercolor painting. It's not giving me the look needed. And it's as hard as it's reputation. And I'm still really bad at them. Can't see sticking with a medium that I'm not happy with. Going to go to acrylics. Sticking with the same brand I used in watercolor. M Graham. Got 7 tubes on the way. Cadmium red, cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, titanium white, burnt sienna, burnt umber and yellow ocher. I know these are all warm colors. Be able to make cool colors with these paints easily. Also have a bottle of Grumbacher gesso on the way as well. Going to use all this watercolor paper I have to gesso over and practice with. Good news is a had full of the water color brushes I have will handle acrylic paint. The rest will get put up with the watercolor paints.
I would love to play with oil. it's the chemicals that are keeping me away. I know they make water soluble paints but you still have odors to deal with. Pro acrylics don't have the same bad smells as the cheaper paints. They don't use all the additives cheap paints use to thin them down.
Right now i'm practicing with craft acrylics on untreated watercolor paper. Not the best. But all I'm practicing now is brush strokes and control. Once the new paint and gesso come in I'll be doing a lot of value and color studies to get used to this new medium.
-
Filled up my vehicle with gasoline.
-
A box of Keebler Danish Wedding Cookies.
-
More acrylic painting stuff. Don't know what i was thinking when I ordered what, in reality is two oranges and a purlple. :) . Cad yellow deep is orange, cad red is a warm red so it goes to the orange side of things. And aquamarine blue is a cool or purple blue. And that red is on the cool side of the wheel. So the stuff I have coming will even my color wheel out and give me a good variety for both warm and cool colors. I'll mark the cool colors with a "C". All M Graham heavy body acrylics. Cad Yellow, Phithalo blue (green shade), Hansa yellow "C", Phithalo green ( yellow shade). End up with one each of warm and cool colors. The cad yellow deep ( orange ) and phithalo green being my only two extra colors. Easier to go ahead and have these two instead of mixing the color first. Wile working with water color I've learned that these six colors, plus the earth tones, give an extremely wide range of color when mixed.
Also have a few brushes coming. Kind of the same problem I had when getting watercolor brushes. I have to buy a few to try them. Also on the way is a retarder. Used to slow the drying time of acrylics down. Should give me between ten to thirty minutes of blending time. And a flow aid. Used to water down acrylics for better paint flow. Ya, I know i can use water. But like the look of the flow aid better.
-
A box of chocolate chip cookies.

After all of that I forget to get one color. I only have one of the reds I need. Going to order quinacridone magenta to complete my set. Two reds, two blues, two yellows, one green and one orange. Ordering one thing will kill me on shipping. Might as well order different brushes as well. Try one from a few different makers to see what will work for me. Painting with Walmart cheapos right now. Like painting with a hammer. :)
I've been watching almost as many youtube vids on color and painting as I am No Man's Sky. Only difference is I can use what I learn to paint. Still don't have a set up to play the game.

Pretty good haul from the library today. :) Not great, but good enough. Picked up all the following for $1 each that were on the Sale shelf. None of them are complete collections. But they're still good nonetheless. ;) Since my local library doesn't carry either of these tv series, I can only guess that somebody got rid of them from their home collection and tried to donate them to the library. But I guess the library didn't want them, so........they're in my DVD collection now! Not sure when I'll get around to trying to finish collecting the rest of these series. Might be awhile.

At 8:20 tonight I finally bought a PS4 Pro and 'No Man's Sky'. Guess I finally got tired of watching everyone else play it on line. :) It'll take a wile to learn the controller. Last one i held was connected to a Nintendo. Used it to play Mario and Tetris. Ya, it's been a long time for me. Still haven't got it hooked up. The flat screen TV I have is around 20 years old. Most of it's connections are RCA jacks. Really hope this works on it. If not I'll end up getting a newer TV. For the price i paid for this small TV I could get a really nice one now. But we'll cross that bridge if it's needed later. Time to get things set up. Then I can spend time walking around and enjoying the scenery. Chill out, relax and do nothing the game wants me to. :)
-
Looks like it'll be the weekend before I'll be able to set the play station up. I need an ethernet cable. I'll have to make a forty mile round trip just to get a single cable.
-
Beastars Vol.1 manga, and a WWII history book from Amazon.

Candy bar from vending machine. So I could get through my 4 hour phone meeting at work. :o
-
Box of 30 ct. allergy tablets for $25 at the pharmacy.
-
Two seal-a-ble paint pallets. Been using a lid from a small, flat storage container. Kinda of a pain to use with it's raised center. It's been working but it would be nice to have a all flat surface to work on.
-
Bacon, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich.
-
Two 'Stay Wet Pallets'. These are designed to keep acrylic paints fresh longer. They use a plastic sheet that lets water through. And a sponge to hold water under the sheet. So in practice they keep the paint active longer by watering it down. I got both of them without these inserts. Don't need them with the Golden Open acrylics. Do however need a better seal-a-ble pallet than what i have now. Using a 'Sterilte' container turned upside down. With the paint on the underside of the lid. Kind of a pain to use. Looking forward to not only having a completely flat surface but a larger area to work with.
-
A new music stand and a bottle of slide grease.
-
Two pairs of dungarees, one with dinosaurs printed on.
I'm going to be very restricted in what I can wear for the next few months as I will have large wound on my stomach and possibly back, so I need clothes that won't rub and that I can sleep in if needed.

Kobuk, what an awesome buy!
Four more paint brushes. Utrecht Tuscans. It's official. I've spent more for paint and brushes this year than I've spent for clothing in the last five years. :D These brushes are a bit stiffer than the Silver Brush Bristlons I've been using.

But at least cause and kobuk you get something out of your hobby.

Didn't really buy, but went to the local food pantry today and got a bunch of stuff. But sadly, 10% of it I had to throw away as it was past the expiration date or it was stuff I didn't like and would never eat.
EDIT: Earlier today I did buy a few groceries from Walmart.
-
Bought a bunch of smelly oils. Or as they're known 'essential oils'. No idea why they're called essential. I've lived a very long time without them. Two box sets of these things. Gonna stink like cedar, birch, balsam, rosewood, eaglewood, nanmu, cypress, patchouli, sandalwood, frankincense and nutmeg. Why not. :) Also have a proportional divider and a bottle of rubbing alcohol. Haven't been able to buy rubbing alcohol locally for a wile now.
Hans, been a member of that club for years now. Way to many hobbies.
Jade, I have over $200 in watercolor brushes alone. These brushes can't be used with any other kind of paints. Not counting how much was spent on the paints. Between $9 to $25 for a single tube. I can use the watercolor paper with acrylics. So there's no real loss there. I've got a basement full of boxes filled with abandoned hobbies. Given quite a few away. You never know what you'll get out of something until you try it. Unfortunately there's no Try It Before You Buy It hobby place. They all make to much money on people like us.
-
And speaking of tossing money to the wind. Finally got around to getting a new thermostat. Well actually two of them. And neither is the type I really want. The first one I brought home would only work on 2 or 4 wire systems. The second one is still in the box. Took my old one apart. Now the only way I can have heat is if I leave the fan on all the time. I can live with that. Until I can get somewhere that sells the non programmable, doesn't need batteries, one I want.
-
Paid my quarterly water & sewer bill.
-
A credit report. Adulting sucks. :p
-
A metal spike to braid into my hair.
-
$11 of groceries from yesterday.
-
I tried to buy food essential suck as balooga cavier, Cuban cigars, and a bottle of Bollinger 67.
Ok, ok,
I tried to buy cereal, milk, a small bag of candy, some frozen chicken, and unscented detergent and unscented dryer sheets.
The store is habitually out of things. I don't know why a need to social distance and wear masks causes people to stock pile.
I want to know from all non USA furs, is this stockpiling mentality an American thing? I just don't get it. I love being self reliant and having food caches. But why try to stockpile so so much??
So I needed to buy food, but went home with less than half of what I went out for.

I stockpile because I don't know if I'll have to quarantine or not. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'd rather stockpile knowing I had sufficient quantities of something rather than finding later out that I ran out of something or ran low. Nobody knows how long this coronavirus will last.
Getting back to the word game..........
About $40 of groceries: Shampoo, Mouthwash, Breakfast items, and a 3-drawer plastic storage container.
-
More groceries today including:
A large can of Lysol disinfectant spray. Yay! :)
A large jug (52 oz.) of Dial brand anti-bacterial liquid hand soap.
A 33 oz. container of Purell hand sanitizer.
Ordered on Amazon Vol.9 manga of Beastars as well as a DVD movie I was missing from my collection.
-
More paint brushes. Two of them. Keep hearing a lot of good things about Rosemary @ Co.'s 'Ivory Synthetics'. The truth is there only so many filaments out there. Everyone uses the same for the hairs of their brushes. This white filament is the very same as the Silver Brush 'Bristlon's' I like. I got these just to compare them. Still haven't used them. But by looks the Rose and co's brushes are better made. And, despite the extra shipping cost, cheaper than the 'Bristlons' I like and have been using. Only makes sense I'll know more about them when I start using them.
-
Dog treats, cat treats, peanuts, pistachios, reading glasses, bread, and bathroom tissue.
-
A James Patterson book for my mom and a DVD movie for myself. Both from Amazon and bought on Black Friday.
-
Two breakfast sammiches (BOGO).
-
I bought Ham radio junk.
Yaesu ATAS-120A antenna , Yaesu ATBK-100 ground plane radials, Diamond MX2000N Triplexer, Diamond K400C mobile mount with 6' rg-316 Teflon coax.
And I should have saved the money for other things like... anything else.
x_x
I have jeans on that have holes, the house needs new interior doors, and so on and so on...
So apparently I should prioritize. But I got a deal on these items (or at least I was told I got a deal).
-
Light bulbs and a fleece blanket.
I needed the light bulbs. Amazon was going to charge me $4 for shipping. So I bought a $30 blanket too. So I wouldn't have to pay for shipping.... :) OK, I needed a new blanket too. Most of mine are almost as old as I am.

3 DVD movies for my mom for Christmas.
1 DVD movie for myself.
-
Went out today to try and find/buy Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales on Blu-Ray for my mom for Christmas. I tried 3 retail stores and nobody had it in stock. :( Got home and had to resort to buying it on Amazon for $10. Had to buy another movie (For myself.) for $17 just so I could get over $25 total and get free shipping. So I bought an old 1980's sci-fi/horror movie called Split Second that I was missing from my collection.
-
$8 of grocery items. Mostly boxes of side dishes to have with a main entree.
-
When those light bulbs and that blanket came in I unpacked the blanket. Wrapped myself up in it. It was like being hugged by a life size teddy bear. So I bought one for my mom and brother. Called them up to let them pic their colors out.
-

A 4x8 sheet of 3/4 void free fir plywood. For the stand up easel I'll be using. I'm converting an old 6 drawer dresser. This will be attached to the back of this where the mirror was originally. Still finalizing the plans. More like I don't have any thing to compare this with. So I'm continually working things out by both drawing and using a drawing program to make sure moving parts move the way they're needed. I won a $25 gift card at work. This brought the plywood down to about $42. Tax and all.

2 pairs of Skecher brand shoes for about $110 total. It was buy one pair, get the second pair 50% off. Good thing I got 2 pair cause the size I needed was almost out in the store. Everything was pretty much picked over. In a pandemic, get what you can, when you can, and as much as you can. Cause you never know when something will be in stock again.
-

-
$27 worth of groceries from Walmart.
-
A peanut butter cup sundae.
-
Bottle of chocolate milk and a sandwich from the corner gas station.
$70 worth of 3/4" inch PVC pipe and fittings from Home Depot. Never thought it would be that expensive. :o
-
Integrated circuit containing 4 matched low voltage PIN diodes for RF attenuation use.
(aren't I boring?)
But more interestingly I bought some new white t-shirts.
(okay that was not that exciting)
-
Just pre-ordered Miitopia for Switch, if that counts.
-
Well I purchased these a few days ago while the website was having a clearance sale but my new boots just arrived today.
(yeah i also got that WWI Starscream in today but technically I didn't buy him, he was birthday/x-mas combo gift from my boyfriend)
But these I did buy for $41 (after taxes). I did find the same boots on Amazon for $35 (before taxes) but they didn't have my size.
When I did find a website that did have my size they were a whopping $160 (before taxes)! :o
And no way am I spending that much on a pair of boots that I just like. Anyway when I got them they were on clearance sale and then that Honey app that finds discount codes got me an addition dip in price so I got these for $41 (after taxes) which ain't bad.
Very soft too I think they're suede and they fit my feet well which I was worried about.
-
A model kit for $21. I didn't want to. But it was a rare kit and I had to have it.
-
Bought off Amazon:
21st Birthday book by James Patterson for my mom for Mother's Day.
Project Blue Book Season 1 tv series DVD
Not from Amazon:
$50 gift card to Lowe's for my mom for Mother's Day.
-
Bought this a while back when my stimulus arrived but since it just arrived at the destination I'm counting it today.
A neat dragon toy that can transform into a cube and has its own little plastic box to store it away in. I bought it for my boyfriend in australia cause he's a big dragonball fan and while this guy isn't actually the dragon from that anime it looks pretty similar. He was speechless. :D
-
When you unpack the dragon-cube, does fire and electricity spark everywhere like that? Could be useful on camping trips.
-

Well I don't know firsthand since I didn't buy it for me, it was for my guy down under. But he didn't mention fire and electricity so probably not.
he did however take some pictures of it with the Judy Hopps figure I bought him for his birthday a couple years ago.

Awesome Judy Hopps! I wish I had her and Nick Wilde here.
-
Retractable pencil erasers and a pack of refills. And 98+ feet of four inch wide plaster cloth. Going to use this for torso and head casting. Have a life size replica of myself to model cosplay body armor on. Made a duck tape dummy some years ago. Ended up destroying it by accident. Used expanding foam to firm it up. The foam stretched the duck tape to its limits. Ended up way to big to use.
-
2'x4' 1/2 " plywood to cover a hole in the wall the dog made... >:(
-
A pasta machine. Love home made pasta. Do not love rolling this stuff out. Got a Marcato Atlas 150 coming from Amazon.
-
Wile taking measurements to put up new shelves in the basement I found the exact same pasta machine I just bought. Model number and all. Forget someone had given me this years ago as a Christmas gift. So now I'm attempting to cancel my Amazon order. If the order still goes through I can always give the new one away as a Christmas gift. :D
-
YES! Just got an email from Amazon. Saved myself 80+. So I guess this is " The last thing you almost bought." :D
-
I bought many integrated circuit chips for a project I'm working on. Many arrive Wed, through Friday. 3 companies shipping to me.
-
A $60 book from Amazon.
-
I bought Nothing recently. I need more food. Waiting for next check to arrive so I can buy things I NEED this time, not things I wanted.
Not low on cash, just trying to teach myself to be more-better with money.
-
Groceries including a stack of cheap pizzas, a few cans of SPAM, baked beans to go with the SPAM and some bread and cheese for making SPAMwiches.
Yeah, I like SPAM, don't judge.
Also a few cans of Spaghetti O's.

*Going to Kay's to help make Spam sammiches*
-
Bought boring, low taste, food like salads. I'd rather be eating those spamwiches. I like low sodium spam as well as the black peppercorn spam. Especially in 4 cheese macaroni!
-
I 'm allergic to pork. Before I knew that I remember eating spam and liking it. But it's been so long I don't remember what it tastes like. Check out recipes from Hawaii.
Bought a new cordless home phone. My old one keeps cutting out on me. Also bought a five pound block of Monster Clay. It's a wax based non hardening sculpting clay. Going to use it to sculpt armor for cosplay. Really looking forward to going back to conventions!
-

I'm not really a "recipes" type of person. I like to keep my foods as simple and quick as I possibly can. As such the only two things I use SPAM for is dicing it up and adding it to some baked beans or cutting it into thick patty like slices and putting it in a grilled cheese.
Bought a new cordless home phone. My old one keeps cutting out on me. Also bought a five pound block of Monster Clay. It's a wax based non hardening sculpting clay. Going to use it to sculpt armor for cosplay. Really looking forward to going back to conventions!
I'd be mindful about that clay. I was going to use it for sculpting things but it really does not harden whatsoever. You can't bake it, it'll melt, if you leave it exposed to air it just sits there not reacting. I didn't even find it to be very useful for molding either.
-
Kay. The clay isn't supposed to harden. What it's used for is molding for casting or, what I'll be doing with it, sculpting to transfer patterns off of. I can cover the sculpt with small pieces of masking tape. Cut the patters off. Scan them into a spread sheet program. Enlarge the patters wile using the spread sheet fields to make registration marts to line everything up after it's all printed out. For life size I have all the materials now to make a plaster cast of my head and torso. Once made I can use this clay to sculpt armor. Once sculpted I'll apply tape, cut off the patters. use them to make good patters and transfer to foam. Five pounds isn't enough to do a full armor set. So I'll have to make parts first. Place the on the plaster dummy. Then sculpt more armor. This will make overlapping pieces so much easier. Getting back into cosplay full swing. Hopefully have something put together for our local fur con next year. I have ten months. So nine months from now I'll get started on it. :D
-
Technically I bought this guy some time ago when i put in my pre order but he came in today.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIRdJ3f4Kmw
It's a rather awesome robot that has a robotech/macross feel to it and transforms into a Chinese Chengdu J-20 Stealth Fighter Jet.
I didn't make the above video I just thought it was a nice video showing off the way it transforms.

$12 worth of misc. groceries this morning.
-
Large jug of allergy eye drops
-
Tin snips, two part glue, double sided tape, two sets of guitar tuner pegs, five guitar bridges, 6 more CRI95+ LED light bulbs, a clip on guitar tuner, 7 LBs of beef ( still on that high protean diet ) and an eight pack of Gatorade because I can't find the powered stuff anywhere.
-
the powdered Gatorade is hard to find.
And let me guess the High CRI 95+ LED bulbs are for illuminating art work?!?!?! I bet so, because I can tell you from first hand experience that my lame colored pencil drawings look better under sunlight or high CRI bulbs than crappy LED bulbs.
Last thing I bought was carpet cleaner.
-
Jade, ya caught me red handed. :D I want to put a couple of these over my work bench in the basement too. Been working with a fluorescent light fixture for years.
-
3 DVD's from the local Goodwill store.
$10 of groceries from the grocery store.
2 t-shirts from Amazon for $35 total.
-
Eight large Pyrex glass food storage containers with lids. That's right! I'm going back to glass. Tired of tossing plastic. I know the lids are plastic. However Seran and other cling wraps were developed to stick to glass and ceramics. When these plastic lids go bad I'll still have perfectly good containers AND a perfectly good way to seal them. These are all microwave and preheated over safe.
-
Seven tubes of water soluble oil pants. Two bottles of mediums to use with them. Done with being frustrated with acrylic paints.
-
Ferric chloride.
-
From yesterday:
His Dark Materials Second Season on Blu-ray.
Two 4-packs of large jumbo chocolate muffins.
A package of cheesecake danish.
New monthly bus pass.
-
Some beef brats and croissant dough to make Texan Klobasneks.
Also bought a bundle pack of emotes for Sea of Thieves since my boyfriend has gotten me into playing it.
-
Last of the Pyrex came in today. Along with a large container of powered Gatorade. Also got a hand full of Dremel cut off wheals for plastics.
-
4 DVD's yesterday, and also some green craft foam from Joanns.
-

I can't find Powdered Gatorade anywhere...

Had to get out of the apartment today. Didn't want to be cooped up the entire Labor Day weekend being bored. So I went to a few stores to browse around and see what's new. Wasn't really looking to blow any money, but the entire GOTHAM series on Blu-ray caught my eye at Mega Media Xchange. All 5 seasons on Blu-ray for $8 each! Awesome deal! :o :D This is the best tv series for Batman fans. If you think you know the backstory on the Joker (and other characters), well, I got news for you. The jokes on you! :D
-
Clothes for my new werepup and a box to keep the clothes in.
-
Cheetos.
Lot's of em
-
Paint brushes! Because every hopeful artist needs hundreds of unused paint brushes to make their studio look like they know what their doing. :) The technique I'm learning takes softer paint brushes than the ones I have.
-
Soap. 32 bars of the soap I've always been able to pick up at our local walmarts. For the past three weeks all they have had was 16 rows of Dove and another 8 rows of Irish Spring. Now I've never tried Irish Spring. But Dove? I can't see washing off oil with more oil. :) Had to order from Amazon. Our local wals is going down quicklky. Seems their running out of the supplies everyone buys. Then end up stocking the shelves with thing no one wants.
-
Just to show how excessively boring I am...
I purchased many resistors (electronic component) of many different values, because they were cheap, going out of stock, and were precision as well as low temperature drift.
I "need" them for ... reasons.
Thankfully, I purchased 25 each of 180 different values. Should hold me for a while! Now the company is out of stock of many values I bought and can't get them in for 5 months from the manufacturer, if ever! So if you can't get Yaego 1/4W 1% 50ppm through hole metal film resistors at Digikey, that was my bad!
Please someone tear me away from my super boring life!
(Some day all this electronic junk of mine will be worth a fortune! NOT!)
-
Jade, nothing boring about electronics. With me it's capacitors for custom guitar wiring.
Another few tubes of oil paint. And a few more palette knives. Use the knives for mixing paint.
-
Beastars Vol.14 manga
F9 DVD movie that just came out today.
-
Another bottle of Excedrin migraine.
-
$11 worth of groceries.
-
A few more groceries. Gasoline.
Front rotors and brake pads. My jeep had such bad front brakes, they sounded like they were going to break!
Did you know, front rotors are almost $110 each!?!?!?!? What gives? I spent over $250 for 2 rotors and set of pads! Is there a global rotor shortage?
I swear, how much would this have cost if I had it done at a shop? I went fast and it took me 1.5 hours. So at $100/hour at a dealership are we talking about $400?
No wonder people put off car repairs! That is a whole lot of money.

Yes, Jade. Things are costing more because of supply (which is short) and demand (which is high). The pandemic has caused massive shipping delays and manufacturing problems for just about everything on the planet. Also add in the fact that places are still trying to find new people to hire.
-
Another antibiotic prescription for dental work. :(
Went to the library to see what they were getting rid of on clearance. Found and bought (25 cents) the 2-disc set of the animated series Road Rovers. I loved this show! :D But the only bad part is that when it was produced, it only lasted for 13 episodes (1 season). :'( If you don't know what Road Rovers is, check here:

More art supplies! The things you computer graphic artists don't need to think about. :) Stand oil for glazing techniques. Two types of Umber to use as natural dryers in oil paint. And I finally found a Titanium white that uses linseed instead of safflower oil. Better drying times. And speaking of drying times i just tossed an expensive tube of oil paint. Useless. After three weeks the paint was still wet. Talks to one artist about this same paint. He told me he had to toss a painting out. Still soaking wet after 47 days.

Supplies to make a Pumpion pie from the 1670's. A recipe so old they hadn't added the K to pumpkin. :) Could not find a sugar or pie pumpkin to make the pie filling from scratch. So I'll have to modify and use the canned stuff. Also making a pumpkin tort ( cheese cake ) from around the same time period. Might even bake some bread to bring along as well. But I'll use modern bread recipes.

A 2018 Chevy Malabo. Took my old car into the shop today. They let me go into the shop and see under my car. There was a lot of rust damage under that almost 20 year old car. The repair bill would have been a small fortune. And would have only been a band aid. So I now have a brand new used car!!! Smaller than my old one. With way more gadgets and things to get used to. It's got a back up camera and display on the dash. I noticed something. The back up camera stays on for at least five feet as I travel forward. Guess to let me see what I ran over? This is the newest car I've ever owned

Score! :) Saw this at a used DVD store several days ago, the complete box set of Star Trek Deep Space Nine tv series. Ever since then, I've been waffleing on whether to buy it or not. Well, today I did buy it.........for $70. What a deal! Been wanting the entire series for a long time as it was one of my holy grail series to get. 48-disc DVD set. Checked all the discs and packaging and everything looks ok and in order. No damages or scratches, etc.
-
That's cool Kobuk, I envy you! I like full box sets of DVDs.
Sadly that is almost to an end so I hear. With streaming, no one will ever have "copies" of anything. Then what will they do when they want to rewatch something years later?
Anyway, I wish I had some TV series on box set, but they are hard to find, or very very expensive.
last thing I bought was 10lbs of chicken meat for about $1000.

Try going to Walmart. Look for their DVD Clearence bins near the Electronics Dept. Or do you have any thrift stores, Goodwill, Antique stores, used book stores, etc. near you? Sometimes, those places might have second hand DVD's for sale and cheap too. I also tend to find DVD's on clearance at my local library that people tried to donate, but the library was interested in them.

First I bought a 16 inch chain for my electric chain saw. It didn't fit. So I had to go and buy a new electric chain saw. Weighs twice as much and has three times the power. I know gas saws have more power. But I'd have to keep a gas can for a two stroke engine. For as little as I'd use a chain saw that gas would go bad before I'd use it.
-
Hi Cause,
I also bought a 16" chainsaw last week when a tree blew down. It is electric. It cut up about maybe 600lbs of dry aspen wood in about 2 hours , and into 1' chunks some which were over 24" diameter.
It is light, fast, no fiddling with fuel/oil and maintenance. Cheaper too. When it is off, it is off, no idling so it is safe quickly. It plugs in so I do not get obsoleted about batteries, nor does it "sag" in power. I plug it in using a 10gauge 25' extension cord. The saw has essentially the full 12-14 amps so well over 2HP peak. People underestimate electric, or use thin long extension cords which lose power. OR they use battery ones and maybe have issues there. Society has forgotten virtues of plug in the wall things. And I will only use the saw for pruning my pines. And FYI if you prune a live tree, use vegetable oil, not petroleum, it can harm the tree. You can use heavy vegetable oil like corn. This is also environmentally safe so pets can be where the wood was cut. Wanda ate some shavings... dang dog.
Anyway...
Last thing I bought was elastic cord, thin open cell foam sheet, and some wispy faux fur. I am making a dead-cat/blimp microphone . It is a microphone capsule held in a springy mount cage thing, covered by either faux fur or thin foam to keep out the wind noise The springy mount is to remove most of the noise caused by shaking/hitting it. I may use this thing in a more furry device coming up. Interested?
The faux fur was not ideal, and I really want a fur with rather open backing, thin light weight backing at that, with 1 to 1.5" long fur that is NOT dense. This would mean... cheap-ish stuff... I will try again. At the store they had a pillow that had some of this type of fur on it, and it was probably better for my application.
Why not buy this thing premade?
Glad you asked.
They cost over $200 in some cases, and all are too large for what I have in mind.
Now how can i bend some hard plastic into a parabolic dog-ear shape???
:goldwink:
-
Twenty rounds of M1 Carbine GI Ball on clips.
-
Hi Jade. My 16 inch Poland is 3.8 amp wile the 18 Dewalt is only 2.8. However the 18 inch chain saw cut twice as fast and was way easier to handle than the 16 inch saw. Weight wise the 18 inch saw is almost twice has heavy has the 16 inch. I"m guessing amps aren't the hole story. Torque matters more. Both saws are great for what I needed to do. I'll sharpen both blades and hopefully never have to use them again. :)

I sold my neighbors child so I could afford gasoline to go take Wanda my dog to a creek for a bath.

A Peterson Strobe tuner. Be a very big upgrade from what I've been using. Will help be set up the intonation ( how in tune a guitar is by setting up the bridge saddles for each string ). The more accurate this is the better the guitar will sound. Going to be working on a friends guitar next week. First I'll adjust the neck. Then the intonation. Then the guitar has either some faulty wiring or needs a new volume knob. I'll fix that as well. Going to using this new tuner on all my guitars as well. Really need it for the ones I've built.

I bought some lawn fertilizer that smells so bad my whole garage needs burning down.

A large media cabinet (Blu-ray, DVD, etc.) from a furniture resale shop for $20. Hardly anything wrong with it and in very good condition too.

A box of 100 small latex gloves. Been using a box of 'one size fit's most' from Walmarts. They do not fit me at all. Using them when painting the studies I'm doing now. These gloves are almost an inch to long. They get in the way when I wipe excess paint off a brush, when I clean off a palette knife and even get into the paint that's on my palette. I spend a lot of time trying to keep these oversized gloves clean. Think I'll try taping the fingers back for now.

A 2022 Chevy Trax. Yep, My second car this year. The fist one the transmission tore itself apart. Took a month and a half to get it fixed. Had if for about a week and the trans started acting up again. Had an appointment at 9:00 AM this morning to get it looked at. Told them I was done with that car and traded it in.

Bought a few more paints. it's a case of "You can't get there from here" when it comes to pigments. There's no true of any color. It's either 'warm' or 'cool'. Be a long explanation. Anyway when I reviewed my order there's an extra tube of paint included. My first thought was "I did not order that". Then I realized for the first time ever they actually sent me an advertised promo deal. Early Christmas present! Also bought stuff to make 6 or more different kinds of cookies, a cake, most of the stuff for the lasagna and one side dish for Christmas.

Three books. All on playing poker. When I played weekly I would almost always ( 3 out of 4 games a month ) end up on the final table. And most of the time I would be one of the final 3 or 2 players. That's without any training. Other than watching it on TV. Perhaps these books will help me become a degenerate gambler. :D
-
Hi cause, you're comment made me think of the following...
I have always wondered about the concept of someone making a guide of how to do what they do, which made them successful.
It's like, here's the secret to life but it only works if only a few know it, and now I've made a book to show the masses how to be successful therefore none of us will be but yet I made money on the scheme.
I used to buy books on how to draw when i was a kid. They never resulted in my learning anything useful. I could never draw what they did or I could only draw exactly what they did. Years later i just drew stuff on my own and got better.
Also at goodwill I see a ton of get rich quick books. I guess they failed.
So I see you are already good at poker, and I suspect you don't need any books.
But let us know if the books helped or were a waste of time.
The last thing I bought was house goods. Boring I know.
Gasoline
Food
Blah

Jade, I'd stop buying 'Blah'. It's way to expensive. And it doesn't do much for ya. :D
Doyle Brunson jokingly said, "Ya, that book cost me money". Poker is a sport. It's a very competitive sport. The better the players the more fun the game actually is. I've played against very bad players. It's no fun. It's like slapping around an eight year old. Playing against good players is what makes the game. So in this case the folks that wrote these books made their sport more fun for them. Making it to the final table is one thing. Actually winning takes strategies I still don't have. Coming in second or third isn't wining. It's a competitive thing. Ya don't play to loose. :) I also feel it's necessary to point out that poker not about gambling. In truth gamblers are some of the worst players. Relying on luck is no better than playing the lottery. If you took the money away form the game the gamblers would be the only people to leave.
I haven't bought it yet but i need more bread flour. I have a poolish started and don't have enough flour to finish.
-
What you said Cause now makes a whole lot of sense!
I hope the book makes the game more fun!
I think I get the whole slapping the 8 year old thing. I played a simple game with someone, they stunk, no challenge. No fun.
Last thing I bought was candy for work.
-
Jade in all honesty the game is fun. But winning would make it that much sweater. :) Gonna get preachy here so fair warning. If your playing to win money your better off not playing at all. People who play to win money get desperate. They become as easy to read as a weiner And Jane book.
Need to work on my snacking bad habit. I can eat as much popcorn as I want. So I tried some off the shelf popcorn flavors. The two I got are offal. They both contain MSG. MSG is a double edged sword. It makes both the good and bad flavors stand out. So I got real tomato, sour cream , white cheddar and mozzarella cheese powder on the way. With these four all natural powders I'll be able to mix quite a few different popcorn flavors. And if I want to break down and make a sweat coating making simple caramel isn't that hard.
-
Jade, don't know what to think of the two books I've started reading. The first talks about ESP. It was a big subject back in 1979 when this book was written. At least this book talks about 'tells'. Automatic physical responses to stimuli. Or what you do when you get excited. The next is teaching people to play like most of the people I play against. Way to easy to read and beat. So far they have both been disappointing.
Fourth book came in! It's all the plates ( illustrations ) from Cours de Dessin. I'm able to get most of these off line. However a good number of them have been damaged and stained.
I bought some food and stuff today.

Dog treats
-
Vampire insurance (some garlic)

A new personal trimmer to replace the new personal trimmer I just bought. The one I'm replacing is a Manscaped. I had a Phillips Norelco for over 30 years. It was quick and did a great job. This Manscaped is noisy and leaves a lot of hair behind. I do a better job with scissors. I fell into the hype their doing for the manscaped brand all over youtube. Its trash.

An electric fan with a rechargeable lithium ion battery and it charges via an included 25w solar panel!
ImI'm counting on it being a blessing for me this coming summer.
-
Plumbing plumbing and more plumbing. I took back one part because it wasn't what I needed. And replaced it with another wrong part. I'll have to wait till the weekend to get the part I need. No one around here has it. This isn't my first plumbing rodeo. The house I grew up in was built in 1920. It's bathroom plumbing was from a 1950's mobile home. Finding parts to fit without doing a complete overhaul was real hit and miss. Ever watch 'This Old House'? they make plumbing look so easy. Because they have a dedicated van just for plumbing. Stocked with every possible part. All the way back to the Roman Empire.
-
A new pair of sandals and a set of fly traps. Weather is warming up out here and the flies are already becoming a pain.
Also bought a couple more USB solar chargers from Harbor Freight so i can speed up charging my battery banks.

A big floppy sun hat. Two pair of large plastic black framed 3D glasses. Fit over my glasses. A yard of white sunshade material. And three bars of Dr. Squatch manly soaps. Pine Tar. Alpine sage and Cedar Citrus.

Why are these so expensive?

Four books.

Food for my moms birthday, late by 1 day.

Another book! Five text books now. Getting tired of watching 30 minute vids on Youtube that say they are about something and then spend most of the video saying they are about something. Then two minutes on what the video is supposed to be about.
Unfortunately there are books like this too. I own one. The book repeated itself over and over without actually giving any instructions on how to do the very reason you would buy the book. Only the results of doing it.
-
A bottle of Sprecher root beer soda for $1.04.
-
Bought a hand full of CD's from a resale shop. 50 cents each.
-
Another used lawn mower. Seems it doesn't matter what i buy. New or used they only last three years.
-
Three more text books.
-
3.7 L V6 Chrysler power torque engine with complete seal kit.
Long block.
It's not a special engine, nor is it super powerful or fancy. It's basic..
I will not do this again.
-
Went to my favorite resale shop and bought this pot called a 'Popstir'. It has a device you use to stir the popcorn as it pops. This really does help cut down on the unpopped kernels of corn. And popping in oil makes the corn moist. So the powered I got stick to it better.
-
A big square, page wide magnifying glass that'll hang from my neck. Eye sight problems. OK, truth is I need new glasses. This was the $400+ cheaper option.
-
Tires.
You'd think they were made with gold .
What gives!? Is there a synthetic rubber shortage?
Oh no, it's just price gouging. Again.
My tires are bald and one sprung a leak, so, it's time. I got over 70,000 miles on then!
That's about 1.2 cents per mile worth.
I want to buy something that makes me happy again. I want to go back in time, but I can't afford the time machine.
-
My exceptionally thick, fast growing lawn is quickly becoming a miniature forest. Lawn mower still in the shop. Something has to happen. And fast. Today I got off work early. Good because I don't get to do that often. Bad because I know I'll be there 10 to 12 hours the rest of the week. Clocked out of work and headed east. Bought a brand new lawn mower. Still in the box. I'll put it together tomorrow. Then cut this forest of grass down.

That's a lot of weight to lose. Everything ok?
Last thing I bought was stickers from red bubble. Furry stickers. I wish they were physically fuzzy. Haha!
I'm just a basic GSD. Boring. Average. Dog.
If I go to denfur again I hope to make a family happy like I did on 2019. The year I lost my dog Heidi. That family ran to me and said I looked like the dog who just passed. They had no way of knowing how much that manned to me at that time and in general.
But a man here in my town fought denfur and won. Now people under 18 not allowed. The kids made it funner and cleaner. I'm not sure I want to go to a place that has to be strictly 18+ everywhere.
Stops being fun for me.
-
Thanks for the concern Jade. Everything is fine! And I'm a LOT happier. It's nice to be able to tie my shoes and breath at the same time.:)
-
Good Cause! Glad you are okay!
I need to lose 30lbs for my backs sake. I have bad lower lumbar. Ugh
Last thing I bought was some basic fireworks. For a basic GSD.
That's me. Furry Fandom seems to hold it against me that I'm straight enough average guy. Too bad for me it's about creativity. Art, music, writing, dancing, drawing and costumes!
My workplace claims to be LGBTIQA+ friendly for pride month. I put an asexual spectrum flag about the size of a business card up and people thought it was weird or a flag for an island country. And when I explained best i could people didn't seem to believe me. Should have known. Even some furs react the same. Guess I will just hide that part of me for another decade...
I have 8 smoke grenades that actually do run for 10 min each, planning on doing all 8 at same time smoke the place out.
I also have about 12 "ground mine" which blow up and crackle loudly. Planning on making them into one large device...
And my favorite, red snappers also known as torpedoes. Small cigarette butt shaped throw poppers that blow up with the sound of a real firecracker (which are illegal here) but do not have ability to damage things. I love those things. They last all year. I needed this diversion this year, my life isn't really what I want it to be. So the basic smell, sight and sound of fireworks jolts me out of the funk for now.
There are various fountains and a 12 pack of whistler cones. Good god we all gunna be deaf after an that. Screeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
I just wish I had mortars or some m80 but nope.
I even have a dog friendly fountain that can't burn fur and is almost silent! Hurray!
-
Thanks again for the concern Jade. Dropping Most carbs and almost all sugars has really helped. Just have to learn to say no. I do splurge everyone once in a wile. Maybe twice a month. Pants sizes down from a 42 to a 38. Now these are getting really loose.
>100$ in paint and brushes. Still painting. Just don't have anything worth showing. Hard to put a lot of time in it. Still not using any solvents. But have to change the way I was cleaning the brushes out. I have destroyed some brushes.

Someone had a rare vintage plasma lamp. It was sold as not working. But I know what it wrong with it and I should be able to repair it. Thus I got it a 1/4 cost.
If the glass isn't broken, I can make it work. :goldhowl:

After a few yeas of talking about it I finally bit the dog and did it. Got a new IMac on the way. Not here. I'll have to drive into St Louis to pic it up. it was either that or have it delivered here. The idea of having a new computer sitting on the front porch till I got home wasn't an option. Mac uses my IP address to determine my location. So I wouldn't of been able to have it shipped to the post office after all.
-
Carpet cleaner.
Fuel.
I wish I could buy happiness.
