Kale, or Cale (as ive seen it spelt elsewhere) came from two places. Kale was a name of a character i always had on Neverwinter nights, but I picked the name because it was the name of the main character out of titan ae (i think, it was a while scince i saw that movie)

Interesting story behind mine actually.  Long before I discovered the furry fandom, my brother got me a camoflauge jacket from the military surplus store for my birthday.  Since it was surplus, it had someone elses name on it, in this case, "Fritz".  I rather liked the name, and I started using it as an account name for video games and the like.  Eventually I discovered the fandom, but saw no reason to change my name.  I just smacked a "y" on the end to make it sound cuter, hehe.  Nowadays I go by Fritz or Fritzy to just about everyone, teachers and friends included. Well, I'm bad at thinking of names. So when I registered here, the field "screen name" took me like a quarter of an hour '<img'>
I considered some, then impulsively decided on Furball, just because it sounded about as silly as me. And two weeks later, people start asking me if I'm the artist Furball - about whom, obviously, I knew nothing.
So now I'm sorta thinking I should've taken Kat (Dutch for cat) - one of my first ideas. Ah well, confusion keeps things interesting... ':p'

Scani = the Latin word "canis" anagrammed. I was originally a wolf (the binomial nomenclature name for a wolf being "canis lupus"), so it came from part of that.

The name doesn't fit as well anymore now that I'm a fox, but I've actually grown kind of attached to it, so I'm keeping it. '<img'>

It means Fox Warrior in Latin. It sounded OK, so I decided to use it.

Rayuka (my orginal fursona)'s name just came to the top of my head, when I was thinking of naming my fursona.

Techno Folf (My last Fursona)'s name was dirived simply for my love of techno music and the fact that he was a folf.

Jason (My current fursona)'s name just pop out of thin air, and it seemed to fit him. An intresting coincedence his name is the same as my brother's(who is not a fur) RP Persona.

Opalance means unity, within and without. An opal is a single stone made up of many colors, and a lance is a weapon that has several sides, but unites into a single point.

Yeah, but that would sound stupid, and it was one of those things that I find out the meaning after I make it up.

Let's see . . . "GhostWay" came up a few years ago in a fit of wretched uncreativity while signing up for a Myst forum.  Basically, I glanced at my bookshelf and Tony Hillerman's The Ghostway caught my eye for whatever reason.  In a burst of randomness, I capitalized the "W".  The reasoning for this still eludes me.

My avatar/fursona was originally named "Felatrrans," which comes from my original idea for my fursona: a cat/coyote chimera, mashing the species names Felis silvestris and Canis latrans.  The extra "r" was thrown in to give it a bit of a purring sound with a rolling "r".  However, I've taken to mentally calling him "Felt" for sake of simplicity.

It's sort of a long story.

Phelan's an Irish name, one I actually got out of a book.
(I forgot exactly which book, but I know it was one...)
The name stuck, because the character really made me take a look at who I was and where I was going.

The name's been synonymous with my RL name since then, long before I got hooked on furry.

Naturally, as soon as I needed a name for a persona, I needed something unique.

It was easy enough from there, though the surname is a misnomer.

I'm not a hawk, but rather a falcon; "Hawk" is just easier to articulate with another "F" syllable.

It actually took something like two years for me to settle on the animal, but I haven't been able to make myself change since (nor have I wanted to).

Radiation is Energy radiated or transmitted as rays, waves, in the form of particles.
A stream of particles or electromagnetic waves emitted by the atoms and molecules of a radioactive substance as a result of nuclear decay.

And a Dog is a cool enough animal.

You guys put alot more thought into your names.

*sings*  I'm a redneck furry.  I ain't no high class fur.

Okay, now that that's out of my system...

Once upon a time, there was a wonderful girl named Cindy who said, "I have a fursona yet no name for my fursona, and this makes me very sad."  So this girl walked up to her coworker/friend and said, "You!  You are a creative person!  You should help me come up with a name for a furry character.  Please?"  The coworker/friend said, "Oooh, you're furry.  Neat.  Okay, let me think."  So the two brainstormed several really awesome names.  The name Tag seemed to stick out.  So Cindy said, "Hm, well, I do like to play games and I do have issues when peoples' shirt tags stick out..."  And the name Tag and Cindy lived happily ever after.  The end.

Ended up looking through Baby name sites on the internet for something that sounded right. Kai is some-sort of Native American for Willow. Seemed to fit my personality, kind of flowy and bending a lot before breaking. Silverfire (my fursona's last name) came about because it sounded good and it's a combination of my favorite metal and "element". Sounded Native American enough, so it stuck.

-Kai.

Short stories. Nagoma is a name I pulled out of nothing.

My alter fursonas, Apollo, a green dragon. I took his name from Coheed and Cambria and Greek Mythology.

And Zerose, a Lion, I pulled this off of the Cowboy Bebop episode 'Heavy Metal Queen'.

Ok.. Old Rabbit..  in 1997 I was accepted as a
artist on Yerf.. I needed a username.

I liked to draw rabbit characters, and was a bit
older than most artists. So I chose Oldrabbit.

Kinda fit me at the time, and was lucky enough
to get a domain with the same name. So I stayed
with it..

One other name I had was Roger Raccoon.
It was after a story character.

I have a story I have a story!  '<img'>

I've been drawing animals since roughly my 4th grade year of school and they have always been my passion. My favorites were always the deer and antelope because to me they were the underdogs. Whenever I watched any nature video or documentry if there was any appearance of anteopes, one was going to die! I know that lions hunt for food and stuff but the videos made us hoofies seem like our sole existance was to be eaten, which I think is an incredibly shallow view... in the words of Far Raptor... *stomps ground* "how RUDE of them!"
Then there is the wonderfull experience in growing up in, for lack of better term, redneck country. Nothing against them of course, but you know they like hunting hehe and most mistakenly think I'm a deer... though I like deer as much as antelopes. So with the combination of "antelopes are lion food" and "deer are rifle fodder" we come to the ultimate conclusion - we are the underdog, and the underdog strangly appeals to me. Think Spider Man, everyone likes him because he has his flaws that we can relate to. That's what I think of impalas. Impalas have to be against the odds of survival, there's always the danger of being eaten but you must take it head on because being eaten is just not an option ain't it?

Whew now the name lol, having already been associating myself with an impala someone from a Christian chatroom and I once discussed yet another issue about the afterlife. We concluded that we should be allowed to choose an alternative species if we wanted.  '<img'>  I had my natural choice and she said she would like to be a wolf... maybe a furry too but we both didn't seem to know about the lifestyle yet. We gave each other nicknames, my real name is Ricky or Richard, take that "R" from that and put it in front of "impala" and volla! It wan't that hard was it?  '<img'>

One more thing, I was also known to log on to chatrooms as Ricky the Elk, which was more as a name I came up with since I like elk too. But Rimpala has always been the alter ego

Well, a furend actually gave me mine. I know on here it is aleongod which I've used that on many sites for years. But Waffles is the one I'm talking about. My mate and I were over at a furends house and on the way out he looked at me and said "WAFFLES!!!!" We all laughed. But for some reason it stuck with me and I really liked it. Not a very interesting story, but hey...just thought I would put my few pennies in LOL  '<img'> .
