Do you think its cause we get reffered to in life alot as Alpha's, Stallions, etc?

Well, we all know the egg came first  :D Dinosaurs, rawr.

Many of the stats I've seen for the fandom have said the ratio is about 1:1. The furmeets I've been to have been predominantly female. Several sites I've joined have been biased in membership in favour of women. So I wouldn't say it's male dominated. Just the males are perhaps more vocal and open about being furry?

I will say I've not seen any stats that aren't less than three or four years old, so I'm not up to date XD

I think it's just a result of the bias of our society.  Furries seem to like traditionally male things.

Don't laugh but i think it also has ties to:
-LGBT
-Emo's
-Gothics

Anyone who could potentially be considered as 'outcasts' in the general public.
LGBT groups generally how vocal males (like me), as do Emo males.  Gothics are cool no matter what so there isn't really a typical behavioral pattern.

Saying that, This is categories, biased and i don't like it so please ignore this statement :(

It's just a trend.  Things just happen to happen.  A lot of times there are underlying reasons to these trends, but that doesn't mean they apply to every situation.  It's like, furry websites tend to be more open and therefore more open to different sexualities.  The ratio of non-traditional sexualities to traditional is much higher than in the rest of the world as a whole.  But furry has little to do with sexuality by definition.  It's just, there are underlying connections.

Trends are trends.  Stereotypes are another thing.

Like I said, the stats I saw were rather old XD So it's entirely possible and I'm happy to accept that perhaps they were biased due to the way they were carried out (an issue a lot of surveys and tests have), or are just plain inaccurate now.
It'll be interesting to see what the results of the 2013 furry survey are.
