Phantom parts. I was calling them "psi-parts", but same thing. <^_^> At least I'm not the only one. '<img'> Tho I've had cat tail & ears or wings for a while, the Kitsune tails are more recent. That may be because I didn't really know much about them til recently tho.

I walk around barefoot whenever possible.  My feet have got fairly tough pads, but my hands are very soft, computer geek ^_^

I also curl up into a ball when I sleep.

I do that all the time.  I think its a sign of a feline transition.  ':.'

Don't pay attention to him; he thought he was growing a tail at one point. Anyway, as Ecko knows, I have really nasty feet, and I do have pretty thick skin on them now. As for finger calluses, play King of Fighters '99 on a regular ps1 controller regularly, and I'm sure you will most likely get some. I have pretty tough and dry skin, so it just put a hole in my thumb.

As for me and behavior, I sometimes turn a few times before sitting down (and I probobly look like an idiot doing it) and I have kind of a Marge Simpsonish growl thing going on.

Actualy sleeping in a ball is synonomous with being prey. Notice all non-predatorial animals sleep in pods or in balls while predators are perfectly comfortable sleeping on their backs. I doubt it has much to do with feline ancestory more then comfort and instinct.

Generaly small, less secure animals, cats, ferrets, rats, small dogs, and even certain reptiles curl to keep their body heat as well as keep defended from other predators like snakes and larger more dominant animals. Even though they are predatorial they still have predators that find them a tasty meal.

In humans its more or less a natural fear of the dark. People who arent afraid of what lurks within, more often then not, are laying on their belly or their back, sometimes even their side.

Remember the human body is fickel, its usualy conditioned through society as well. So one cannot apply much if anything to the nature of a wild person (Animal) who has to survive through fear, instant reasoning, and the taste of blood.

It's good to see so many people experience this. I know I couldn't have been the only one.
I remember the first time I felt my spirit tail. (That's how I usually refer to it.) I was taking a physics test, and the next thing I know, my tail is poking through the chair. Moderately distracting to have happen.
I've learned some control over stuff like that since then, such as being able to switch between forms and whatnot. (bit of a polymorph)
I'm actually curious about the nature of developing phantom limbs when there haven't been limbs before. (Among some of pop-psychology is the research of phantom limbs, so some readers may know to what I'm referring.)
I can't stress enough about how much I need to relax.

Once I read a book that said "Phantom limbs" were really the feelings of there ethric plain counter-parts being felt in this plain.. tails, Ears and muzzles were the most common felt because the human body has nothing doubleing over these parts in the Physical Plane.
or something like that

I often feel like I have vague extra bodyparts, but they're not too distinct yet, as I'm still unsure about what species my fursona is...

*grins* looks like I started something, eh?

at least you suddenly don't get parts from another species entirely, like I do....*scritches between shoulder blades* sometimes wings get annoyingly itchy.

My dreams tend to be just plain WEIRD. I was a gryffin in one, just sitting in my compulsory German class like this was perfectly normal.  Nobody said anything about it...

My tail is the spirit appendage I feel the most strongly most of the time.  I've been told that is the sign you are a shifter.

Gods, it's been forever since I've gone thru the forums...thought I'd start with a fave.  I've been feeling my wings a lot...Even managed a decent look at them in a dream...(considering they're attached, I think the look was decent '<img'> )

I don't feel my tail much, but on occasion I do feel my muzzle...I'm hoping my son will be born otherkin as well.  I do go up stairs on all fours, tho partly cuz I'm short enough that it's easier anyway ':p' I do go barefoot as much as possible, I hate wearing shoes or socks, anything covering my feet/hands makes me hot.  I think it's the feline thing...I'm an ocelot/gryphon fur...

Blessings,

Fianna

Hi Fianna.  'Tis been a long time.   '<img'>  *hugs*

Getting back on topic, does anyone have animal senses coming through.  My sense of smell has become greatly oversensitive, almost wolf-like.

hehehe, I DO have pads on all my fingers and toes... I have a longer than normal tailbone...which can hurt if i fall down... My ears perk up when i hear something. and my smell and hearing is astounding. I could be inside somewhere protected, and hear the neighbor's phone ring...

And when i was younger... I howled and growled.

My dreams, they feel soooo real. i actually can see myself in them! It's really neat!

and around fall and spring... I can actually sence the changes in the seasons... I can tell when the seasons are starting to change, just by sniffing the air.

My hearing is amazing, as is my sense of smell. Can be rather horrid when some idiot lets a stink bomb off.

There are evidential pictures of leaves of plants that had been cut off anf the electro magnetic field still showed the outline of the leaf BEFORE it got cliped.

That sounds very interesting. So I did some searching and came up with this:

Psychophysics

I'm not sure how much of this I'd believe, but it is an interesting read non-the-less.

Interesting link. I hadn't read much of it yet, but if someone pokes me with a stick in the near future, I might lend a critical eye to it.

I study psychology from a research perspective, so a lot of this is of interest to me. Call it a skeptic's curse if you will.

*snicker* I wonder how many other furry psychologists there are...  '<img'>
