--Humans, of course, have senses of smell poor by animal standards, yet we live in a world of scent signatures by which many animals process reality, location, and identity.  Animals also tend to experience taste texture more than yoomans, licking things more.  Do you find that you use these senses more than your human brethren, and how?   '<img'>

I'll just say that I think I tend to be more 'scent' oriented than those around me.  I will often note tiny changes in  odors where I am (perfumes, garbage, food, etc.) before others.  In fact, I can sometimes guess ingredients in drinks, food etc. by their smell.

Also, as mentioned elsewhere, I am very much into smelling food prior to eating.  When it was brought up to me as being a 'disgusting habit' I found more subtle ways to get the scent.  One of my most common is to pick up the food I'm about to eat and then pause to say something or look away (as if 'spotting' something) .  This allows me to take in some of the food's odor before eating.

Taste... think I'm about the same as everyone.  Salt, sweet, sour... uh, forgot the fourth.

Just yesterday I was in my school's sculpture room, and someone had painted one of their sculptures with oil paints.  I mentioned that the oil paint smelled like pumpkins.  One of the people in the room said that I must have a really sensitive sense of smell.

It's kinda funny because several people have told me that before, and I always thought I had a weak sense of smell.

The ironic thing is that most birds have a crappy sense of smell.

I've always been the kind who always puts things in their mouths, I've done so since I was a baby - it used to scare my mother to death.  I mean I've lost count of the amount of biros and pencils I've chewed over the years, and the flavour of a pencil is very different from that of a biro. '<img'>
I don't know if my sense of smell or taste are in anyway different to the average - I guess I'd need to jump into the mind/body of another to know for sure.  But I love to smell things, especially food, I think it's important to sense everything about what you're eating or doing - it fleshes out the experience. I use my sense of smell often enough. An yeah, most birds can't smell very well, so it is odd. Maybe this is where my other species comes in.
Like, I can tell when the dorms have just been vacuumed because I can smell the cleaning solutions. It makes the stairs smell like a swimming pool locker room, with chlorine and various human smells.
And I like eating popcorn, but can't stand making it because the hot buttery smell makes me want to retch. Same with cinnamon spiced hot apples. So wrong.
And there is one guy in the dorm whose cologne is waaayy to strong, and it makes me want to use the far stairs when leaving the building because the smell lingers in the main stairwell.

I kept an apple in a box with a cholcolate bar, and notice later that the chocolate had taken on a sortof apple-vinegar flavor, too. It was odd.

Edit: Oh yeah, and I am quite a chewer. I chew on pens, pencils, my headphones, glasses, whatever happens to be arround, almost. When I was in kindergarden, I would actually eat my shirt collars. My sister hated getting my hand-me-downs because of that.

Fruitcake is a legitimate gender in my book.

I tend to pick up on smells before those around me.  If I could quit smoking, Im sure my ability to smell things would get alot better ''   I smell everything before I eat it, and have a tendency to put things in my mouth.  I use my mouth like a third hand at times.  My hearing isnt any better than that of the people around me, but I tend to notice the more subltle sounds that folks around me choose to ignore.

Yeah, I walk around sniffing the air a lot, and when I do I also taste it, because sometimes my mouth will pick up tastes in the air that my nose is used to. I can tell a few people's sents, like my roomate's and my girl's and my mom and people like that.

Also I smell everything before I eat it, like at lunch today I was about to eat a "hamburger" and I smelled it, and it smelled nothing like cooked animals flesh, it was nothing but grease covered soy!  ':p'  Give me flesh! Also smelling the other "meat" made me poke it to death in desperation.  ':dead:'

I can pick up any anonymus peice of clothing in my house and identify the owner by the scent on it. Everyone has their own smell.

One of my mate smells like baked beans and pine, another smells like tobacco and tomatoes.

And I get really bad memory rushes when I smell something powerful. Like whenever I smell wood polish I get a flash of me sitting in my front room playing Sonic 2 when I was a wee cub.

Unfortunatly, my taste spuds have been killed dead by cigarettes.

Sadly, I have a really bad sense of smell...  I can identify odors IF I'm able to smell them.  My sinus passages are usually not very open.  Stuffy noses are sad!   Also, I'm not a picky eater, I just don't like meat much.  Oh well...  '<img'>

Oh, but my observation skills are awesome!  I am always picking up on things that people don't notice, whether it be via sight or sound.

My sight is pretty good, I have an eye for small details up close, but far away I'm blind as a bat (not literally blind) but you know what I mean, haha.

Smell? Sense of smell is so-so. I'll sometimes spell things that arent around me at all (which will wierd me out XD) but anyway. My sense of smell around this time of the year is nearly useless when I catch one of those oh-so-common winter colds.  ':dead:'

Pretty heightened sense of smell - it makes cooking much more enjoyable.

No real sense of taste, my clothing choices prove that. (haw haw haw) But seriously, I'm wearing a t-shirt that says "I (club symbol) Cheaters" to administer the last lab practical in the class I teach.

But I have exceptional hearing - high pitched whines of electrical devices are annoying.

I'd say I'm perfectly matched to my species, but...

Well...
I'm nearsighted.

Again, my sense of smell sucks. If you lit my bed on fire when I was sleeping, I'd notice the temperature change before I smelled anything burning.

As far as actual visual acutity?(does that have one T, or two?)
Well, there's a reason that I play a spotter role for AirSoft. With the appropriate focal aid, (a pair of unbelievably stylish perscription sunglasses, which Neiko calls my "blind-man glasses") I can spot anything anywhere.
My hearing's so sharp that it annoys me. I can hear my neighbors open and close their doors over a thunderstorm, whispers, pick apart a dozen conversations at once, and both Nagoma and CoyoteCretin will back me up.

Then again, I have my little tricks for navigating in pitch-black.

If I can't see, which I usually can well enough, I'll be able to run full-out through thick woods using a laser pointer or laser sight device, while the people using infrared-band night vision goggles and spotlamps can't even move much faster than a brisk walk without tripping every now and then.

I tend to use my sense of smell quite a lot, too. Like Party Pony, I like smelling my food before tasting it (this also applies, for some reason, to books I read as well. There's nothing like the smell of a new book. Or a new computer. '<img'> ). I can tell people (usually family members) apart by their scent, and I'm usually fairly good at tracking down where a smell is coming from, as well.

Taste, I'm not so sure about. I enjoy tastes, but I wouldn't say my palate is as sensitive as my nose.

I guess I use my sense of smell and taste a lot. Even mild perfume can kill me for a couple minutes. When it comes to food though, I'm more about the texture of the food. If it's too squishy and just plain doesn't feel right, it can get to the point where I'd have to vomit  '<img'>

I smell everything!  Food, drink, the poor animals, whatever is on the air I'll walk around like a dog sniffing it out.  People looked at me funny when I was in skoo and started smelling my pencil.  And any perfumes will make me drop dead   ':dead:' Can't say my tastes go out of ordinary other than chewing on things, and occasionally eating dog/cat food  ':p'

My smell is terrible.  I smell everything last, probably because some person around me has beaten my senses with his cartoonishly hilarious retro-spective odor strength.  From his bowel movements.

He cleared a 2000-square foot house before.
There were no casulties
Three were wounded trying to get out.

I'm serious

*forgot to finish*

But my hearing is VERY sensitive.  It helps when I'm in choir '<img'>
