Furry Teens?

Is it just me, or are there a lot of new teen furs? I've been a fur since I was 11, so maybe I'm just psychosomatically reaching for people my age, but then again, maybe not...

well to tell the truth, you get better yiffy artwork that normal artwork, and thats pretty much it for most, i gotta say i used to be more into the artwork, but now its old stuff, i prefer fan fiction, being an author, but i not as much innto the"furry scene" as i was at the start

I've seen this.

It's comiong across as a teenage clothing rebellion thing.  Y'know, like T-shirts and jeans from the fifties, ties dies in the sixties, punk leathers in the seventies, wearing your underwear on the outside of your clothes and neon colors of the eighties, and goth of the nineties.

Now I've seen two or three in town wearing head clips, glove paws, and tails.  They wind up looking more like cartoon characters than animals but I'm all for it, it adds another dimension to the furry world that ties it to anime.

Think it is just the march of youth mixed with progress.
Folks are exposed to more these days at a younger age thanks to cable and the internet.  This lets "kids" get a wider view of the world and choices.  At one time science fiction and comic fans were all college age folks or older.  Nowadays, you can find collectors under 10! ''
One oddity, lifestyles tend to move younger, not older.  In other words kids get into things younger and younger, but adults generally don't change as much.  Key exception would be folks who kept such interests in a closet.
'<img'> Actually, I'm glad the youth is confident enough to express interests outside "the norm" (whatever that may be.)  I generally find the addition of youth refreshing as they bring new perspectives and ideas, albiet not always good.

I really haven't a clue how I got into it, I started thinking about fursuiting one day, and then it led into the thought of cuddling a furry being. I guess like that, it was a rather arousing and warm thought.

Then I just did some shamanic searching for a fursona and found that I'm a fox, it left me in a bit of awe and happiness when I found my fursona.
I yiff!

Maybe they hear adults talk about how "freaky" furries are, and so they look it up out of curiosity.  That's kind of how I became a Wiccan. '<img'>

I think some of the interest comes from exposure to other fur elements.

You see lots of fursuits in commercials and comedy shows now.  (Though not always in a pleasant light.)  Then there are those *shiver* babies in animal suits found on cards and such.

Plus, it is more and more "ok" to express your likes, even when different.  When I was a cub, just saying you liked "funny animal" comics put you in a lower class of comic fan.  Today, the anthro characters are considered "cool" and sneaking into mainstream stuff.

I agree that it's probably some sort of rebellion. But on the other hand maybe more teens are realizing earlier that they are furries because of the more exposed the world is (tv, internet.) I know that Ive been a furry at heart since I was born but I didn't realize it till about 2 weeks ago went I came acros the VCL. I'm 19 though, still a teen. That could been the reason for all the new teens.

I think it depends... honestly, I'd never heard of the furry fandom, but I've technically been furry since... before I can remember. o.O

Like, ever since I was a kid, I was always into animals.  And anthropomorphics.  No internet, no artwork, no outside influence, except maybe a coupla friends.  And it wasn't a phase, because the all-through furriness has stuck with me for over a decade.

Then I found the fandom and was psyched, and then got to feeling REALLY ackward, because I was rather young...

But I don't think that ALL teens get into it over porn or rebellion.  Some are just natural furs... or have their own reasons.

Don't think bad of us all. ^^;

As a teen furry, I felt the need to chime in. Some kids might be into it as rebellion. A lot of it might have to do with greater access to information; that's how I found the fandom. But as a teen furry myself, I've been a fur for quite a long time. Even as a kid I had a special connection to animals, and even since I was a little kid I would pretend to be different animals (usually wolves or werewolves.)  '<img'>  I guess the teen furry influx is one of those things you can't really explain sometimes. Eh, I don't make sense.  '<img'>
"Are you trying to suggest that coconuts migrate?"
"You know, bats aren't really all that intimidating."
"Take a right, then you take a-what hands is that?"

I am a teen furry, and I will admit that originally, all I came for was the Yiff. '' But I found the other aspects of the fandom, and they appealed to me, and I actually created a Fursona and stuff. Man...I love Furry...

Haha, almost the same thing for me. I'll also admit I learned about it and stuck around just because of the yiffy stuff... but since then, I've gotten more involved in the fandom, and I really don't even care about yiff anymore. '<img'> What a turnaround, eh?

'' Wow... all these yiffy teen furs.
Sheesh.  I didn't get into any sexual interest/activities until I was in my 20s.   ''
Maybe that's why the yiff aspect was never a key factor for this noble steed.  '<img'>

I stumbled upon the fandom by pure accident, I was looking around a gaming website and stumbled upon a board that fur's hangout at. Not to mention I was searching on google, saw something by Nightcat, and yeah  '' I suddenly started getting interested in this stuff, not just because of yiff, but because anthro's are fun to draw and are in some of the best comics!(VGcats anyone?)

Very funny online comic, that you could call furry. It's two main characters are Aeris and Leo, antrhomorphic cats.  They make fun of videogames.

Leo: "Aeris is a very very mean lady.  She hits me with things."

Aeris is mean >=( Leave Leo alone!

Maybe Furry is becoming the cool thing to do...which I definently hope not...especially if it goes mainstream because then everything goes from MTV Specials to pop artists dressing in fursuits... ':dead:' I'm not here for just anyone aspect of Furry (but pretty much all aspects)...I hate to see a'bunch of cold people move in just so they'll be cool...

I've known about furry since I was 12. I hadn't really begun my journey into it until I was 20. I was actually a little afraid to look into this fandom, and I wasn't even exposed to the negative lies about it, until I met my friend Jenna.

'<img'> Sadly, most interests/lifestyles eventually get invaded by the wannabes and curious.  They all start with folks who are really interested in the topic/style.  Then it becomes discovered as a way to meet people and the casual/wannabes come in.

I recall some of the "original furs" became outraged when cons began filling with folks merely looking for sex, with little interest in the general furry lifestyle.  The same thing happened when comic collectors discovered most of the new collectors knew nothing about comics... except that they were "valuable investments".  ':dead:'

Now many comic cons have small meetings and events for those who still care about the history of comics.  Soon furcons will have the same areas for the true furs.
