Furry Teens?
« Reply #50 on: September 04, 2004, 10:22:08 am »
I noticed the ages for being a fur have gone way way down, I know that I've been one since I was 11 but I didn't bother to look into it until I was like 14 or 15 and even then I was only looking to see if other were like me. Now it seems that all the new members of the fandom have only one thing that preoccupys their minds, SEX. When I started being a fur I was more of a spiritual fantasy full of action and adventure, great art, and fantastic stories. Getting yiffy towards furry didn't happen till I was about 17, and even then I more interested in the tame stuff. It seems to me now that these new members are getting into the darkside of the fandom way too early for them to realize weither they actually even understand and enjoy what it is they are viewing all the while causing serious and permenant harm to there phycii. And when these Teens run into trouble down the line, who are they going to blame, the fandom of course, spreading worse lies and only revieling the side they are familiar with, which would be the darker side, leading to stuff like that dumb CSI or MTV show, stereotyping us all as something alot of us are not.

Hi, *cringes* new on the block, and a teen hrmm..*is reluctant to post*
Ha! That dumb CSI show, I will go with that. *sniffle* My friends think I'm some sorta perve now because of it, rr.

Sadly, if being a fur does come into 'popularity', my being of what I am, will deteriorate. My gosh, I can just picture all of those 'popular' chicks moving in on my terra, grr. It would seriously suck. People using beliefs etc to be 'cool' and 'in with it'. *shakes head*

Show's like CSI though have played a magor role in the amount of teen furs I do believe. The 'sex appeal' I supose you could call it, would draw alot of people into the fandom. I mean, come on, what un-self-respecting teen wouldn't want to have- uh, nevermind. Plus, there are alot of warped teens out there. And starting at I do believe grade 5, sexual education is being taught in many schools. Thus, younger and younger kids know about sex and whatnot, as when just years ago, they wouldn't. *shrugs*

I would also go with the rebellion thing. Example, you wear ears and a tail to a mall, people are gonna be watching, and people crave attention, even if it is sorta negative lol.

I personally got into this furry thing, and I will admit, more-so after seeing that one CSI episode. I already knew about furs etc., etc., but that show was really, whoohoo, wacked, and I got off my lazy butt (for once), and POOF, here I am.

*shrugs* What do I know?

I found the CSI episode more inaccurate then anything, but whatever new furs entering the fandom based on that episode will be disapointed. I personally have been harrased by a few of my family members cause I am a fur, they based all their accusations against me on that episode. It was very hard to convince them otherwise but now at least I found that remaining silent has at least made them shut up. However they don't realize that being a fur is a lifestyle choice and a long term one. I will be a fur 25 and 50 years from now, its not going to stop me from getting married and ~cringes~ having kids and having a "normal" life.

Trekkies/Trekers never got this much guff from people, why does being a fur offend them so much.....

I'm a teen fur and I got into the fandom by being bored, browsing on the internet and stumbled onto a furry art page and I just loved the pictures I saw they were so cool!  Then just being curious browsing around I found out more and I basically joined the fur ranks! '<img'>

Same basic thing here. It got me into the spiritual posibilities, helping me find my connection with wolves and other canies. I don't really like drawing much attention to myself, so when I wear accesories, its for my enjoyment.

I'se been a furry since I can remember; about 5 or 6 I think.  However, I didn't find out what it was called until about... let me think.  10th grade?  Which was when I was about 15 or so.  So yes.  Bwah.  I have no idea if that made me a furry teen or anything.  (Wow, it's been five years?  Woo.  o.o)

Well, to be honest, when I first joined the furry fandom (when I was 16, i'm 17 now), I though it was a young thing. I joined because I felt I had a kind of connection to canines. Right now I'm in like 3 teen furry groups. I'm too shy to wear accesories in public.  ':p'

Seems like a good thing overall to me. Inc those who discover it thru yiff stuff then go on to like other aspects too.
Enjoy living.

I think most of us got into the fandom by stumbling onto an art site (was VCL for me), looking for porn or not. Yea, some teens were, but some of you guys are starting to sound like all furry teens are into porn! Seriously now!

*breathes deeply*

Personally, I blame the media. I've seen the MTV special and the CSI episode, and they all steriotype us as sex-driven lunatics who get turned on by animals! Thats problably the reason for SOME teens finding out about all this, they see the shows and go check it out and get hooked on yiff art, or, whatever!

Anyways, I think the reason there is alot of furry teens is because this seems to be the age that we start getting attracted to it, I mean, alot of us liked it when we were younger, but really never realised there was a fandom and got into it untill now.

I'm 15 btw

I didn't find out that I was a furry for some time. I knew about their existence for a long time and just kind of looked at the fandom from the outside without realizing that I was a part of it.

Thanks to an internet friend, he gave me some sites to look at and I a friend of his gave me the link to this site, and here I am. '<img'>

I've only recently know what a furry is, but i've always acted in an animal like fashion at times, felt very close to animals and loved animals in general...

I think the idea some older furs have that all teenage furs arn't who or what they say they are is just ignorance.
