So I'm at the theatre yesterday, in the arcade- I didn't actually go to see a movie, I went strictly for the arcade- and I'm playing DDR. In full kitty regalia, of course. So, I've used all my tokens, and I go to the washroom. As I'm leaving, these two girls walk in, I guess their movie had just ended, and they just stare at me. Not in an outcast sorta way, these girls were too young, maybe 6 or 7. So it was pretty cute, and I walk out, and once I'm out of eyeshot, I head an awestruck "whoa!"
It was pretty amusing.

So, I figured, good times, I'd tell about it, and maybe ask what sort of cool reactions have you experienced while lifestyling?

I don't really remember if I've had any moments, but it amuses me when I bark or roar, people stare and then tell me to do it again (not trying to brag, but seriously if you heard me bark but didn't know if was me, you'd think it was a real dog).

Best reaction Ive had so far was at a yard sale. I got out of the car with my tail on and was spotted by the owners 3yrold girl. She shreeked and came barreling at me. She latched onto my tail "look mommy, look, soft " She followed me clinging to my tail as I walked around. She didnt want to let go either when I got ready to leave.

that's the most awesome dance dance revolution story i've heard today. i especially like the part where you do it in a kitty costume. =)

i fear that i'm not much of a lifestyler. and as for the reactions i get from kids, -- in spite of that -- they range all the way from panic, to ridicule. so, i can't match your story. =(

pointless post padding: the first time anyone said "DDR" to me, i kept thinking "east germany." just another sign that i'm really old... =p

What is it with Furs and DDR?  The president of the DDR club here is a fur, hehe.

That's awesome though, I have an image of a kitty playing DDR, hehe.

Thanks for the sweet mental images...I mean story!  >.>

When you say "in full kitty regalia," do you mean just ears and tail? Because I'm picturing you stomping the pad in full fursuit, and it's kinda weird. '<img'>

Either way, that's awesome. The kids' reactions were the best you could have asked for. '<img'>

I have ears and a tail, as well as a collar with a bell on it, and I do my makeup in cat's eyes.
EDIT: Oh yeah, and claws, too.

I'm thinking of designing a skin-tight fursuit, since I like the idea of fursuiting, but they all look WAY too big and bulky. It would be more of a long-sleeve shirt and pants made of fake-fur... But that's another story altogether.

As for DDR and furs, how I figure it, is 80%-ish of furs are anime fans, and 80%-ish of anime fans are DDR fans, THEREFORE, 64% of furs are DDR fans. Which makes for over half the fandom.

Hmmm.  I had a tee-shirt:

Front:"Ready, Willing, and (yiff)able!"

Back:     Chakat Blackstripe
          PROUD TO BE A FURRIE!

Made it myself.  Got lots of odd questions, stares, laughs, everything.

Hmm.. reactions...

I had bought my tail at the Wentzville, MO Ren Faire and afterwards we went to Fazoli's Restaurant.  I was still wearing my tail and I received weird looks from some old people.  T'was funny.

I also went into the Moose Lodge where my sister works wearing it.  hehe.  It's okay.  They like me there so not too many remarks.

On Halloween last year, I made a makeshift german shepherd costume to go out on the town in.  I stopped at Dollar General (where I worked at the time) to buy a leash and wound up scareing a little girl.  I felt bad about that because I had smiled at her to show her I wasn't scary, but I had forgot I had huge, fake fangs in my mouth... so I just scared her even more.  '<img'>  My assistant manager petted me!

Oh, and I showed my boyfriend the pictures of me in my costume!  hehehe.  He's afraid....    '<img'>   One of these days, I'm going to invite him over and answer the door in the costume.  heh

Oh, last time I wore my tail at school, a girl, friend of a friend, kept telling me freaky. She looked at the tail, had a good laugh, and after that I have a new good friend.
So yeah!

I used to play tug-o-war with my dog in the park and I used my teeth. That always got strange looks as a ginger dog and a long haired beared guy in a camo jacket growled at each other over a dish cloth.

I caught a frisbee in my mouth once too. But I was pretty drunk and it chipped a tooth '<img'>

XD

I never could get into DDR. It doesnt seem that hard to learn, but I don't like people watching me, unless I know them all very well, and that huge DDR contraption always gets lots of people watching, so it'd be pretty embaressing when I do terrible on a easy pace in front of tons of people.

I walked by a little kid my 9 year old sister was playing with and she said "woah, what's that?!". I was laughing at that for a while, but I havn't gone out with my fursuit enough yet to get many reactions considering I almost just got it done.

I havn't got any furry items to wear yet. '<img'>

One time when I was walking bare pawed in the mall a mall cop told me off for not having shoes on.(She had aready talked to me about this several times before)  When I told her I didn't ever intend on wearing shoes EVER she called me rediculous.  Well as you can imagine, I didn't enjoy that remark so I growled at her.  She said "Did you just growl at me young lady?" (young? I'm 19 almost 20)  I just growled again and glared at her as I walked away.  I havn't been there at the same time as her since then but I'm sure if she sees me there she'll bane me from the mall.  Which is fine cuz I only go there to look around and kill time anyways.

You might want to invest in a pair of flip flops.  I mean, if you really hate shoes that much.

I have a collar now and I wear it everywhere but I havn't had any big reactions yet.

When my mate and I get board we drive around town and I hang out the passenger window barking at people.  We tend to get some wierd looks and some funny reactions for that.

We went to the mall again the other day and that same cop was there.  She just walked by and rolled her eyes at me tho.  Nothing interesting.

Oh yeah, and I love DDR too.  I don't get to play it much tho cuz I don't have the game and my friend that does, has been out of touch for a while.

It's cool when kids point at your ears.. once had it on a festival where I had them on.. I get more reactions on my bag though. I won it from a dutch television serie so some kids believe I'm from the program.. kinda kewl.

p.s. only got stepmania on the pc.. never played something in real.

I need to do that sometime!

When I was at the mall, my friend wanted me to go up to a mall cop and ask them where the little raccoons' room is. So I did, because what's too lose, you know? I swear, I got the biggest 'what the heck' look I've ever seen. After that she added, "Um, Miss? Are you on any medication?"

Normally, I get positive reactions.  Old ladies like, "Aww..how cute, you have a tail." or little kids saying, "MOMMY!  That lady has a tail!!!" or something like that.  When I've gone with furry friends to clubs, we're usually a hit.  People play with our tails and dance with us and stuff.  Every once in a while, someone will say, "LOOK it's a furry!!" and scritch me behind the cat ears or the back of the neck..which is really funny.  (I live in an artsy part of town)

Then there's the ones that try to act like they don't notice you..
I've been shopping in grocery stores in full fursuit before, and almost everyone tries to act like nothing is going on, 'cause they probably think it's a joke.  I wouldn't suggest randomly going into a store in a full suit because sometimes they get mad.  That's not happened to me(yet), but I've heard stories.

The negative reactions are usually just people being dumb.  Hehe, the funny one was when we were walking to the club and this drunk lady was like, "Oh my GOD what's that on your HEAD?" and we just smiled an ignored her.  But she kept staring.  Then when we walked past her, she said, "OHHHH my GOD what's that on your @$$!!" and I got irritated and said, "They're called buttcheeks.  Jeez, you act like you never saw buttcheeks before!"  And we laughed.  Then my one friend said, "OMG what's that on the end of your neck?!" and we lost it.

As for playing DDR, I don't do it often, but I always wear a tail when I'm going to play DDR in an arcade.  Apparently, there's a video of me playing DDR in a fursuit, too, somewhere.  I haven't seen it, but people have told me.  (See THIS)  Not all fursuits are too bulky.  I actually beat someone in Super Smash Bros. Melee in my Lucario suit at AC.. it was funny.
