I Have A Suspision My Mom Might Be A Furry
« on: January 21, 2005, 10:49:43 pm »
here are some pics from around my house. this stuff has been around for as long as i can remember. notice the hand made bunny women she made. looking back i think maybe this subcounsiusly(sp?) resulted in my choice of a speices. she really loves animal, we have had lots of animals, in all variaties for as long as i can remember. she could just be an animal lover but i think theres some furry in her, and it has undoubtedly influenced me.

these pics are only examples, theres plenty more fur stuff around the house, to much to photograph. come to think of it, why am i noticing this for the first time?

My mom is big on turtles and she's always watching Animal Planet and stuff, heheh. But she's not a furry, just an animal lover.

My mom was also part of the 'turtle' club.  Had tons of them!
Actually a lot of my family were critter friendly.  Though my mom's name was Kathryn, all knew her as "kitty".  (Lately she has gone by "kay".)  My sister had lots of exotic pets and eventually ran a pet store for while.  My dad has done animal photography.  And we've had pets (dogs, cats, guinea pigs, rabbits, hamsters, etc.) as long as I can remember.

Dominus...the stuffed bunny is a common "country" peice that you can find damn near anywhere.  most of the rest of that is normal.

and everyone's right...just because there's critter content doesn't mean a person THINKS they are.  or, right now, my mum would be trying to find Peter Pan (she created a fairy ree out of a hollow centred old [century or more] apple)
my "twin" is a frog-a-holic, and I've got more wolves than you can shake a haunch of deer at.  everybody collects, believe me.

My step-mother goes thru phases in her house decorations, each seems to last about 5 years or so. First she was into owls, then she went thru a duck phase, racoons after that, and it's been deer for the last few years. She's starting to lean towards rabbits now, some of the ones your mom has are showing up around thier new house. While she actually enjoys a lot of things furs do, she's definitely not a fur  '<img'>   to her it's just country decorating and collecting. My father just kind of lets her do her thing and doesn't care one way or the other.
It has one nice perk as far as I'm concerned- she displays plushies around thier home, so she when she sees a new plushie on display in my home it doesn't attract any extra attention. In fact, she will let me know if she comes across one that would fit in my decore and has me looking for ones that match thiers.

Well, I kinda think my parents were responsible for my furriness... I mean, they always let me play with the animals, and thats how I sorta found my connection.. I mean, growing up around the normal animals, then having riding lessons when I was really little... I think they were indirectly responsible for it... Even if they may not realize how I feel about all animals, even how I always connect with all animals better than most humans.
You can mainly find me in Furtopia's IRC.

Heh, well there are a LOT of non furry people that love animals...
there are people that have thier house DECKED out in fur,
ther are people that have tons of stuffed animals
but none of the above are furries or even know of furry, just because of that.

Id say my response applies to your other thread about canada having animals on their money? animals are used in everything! flags, state symbols, high school mascots... i dont think i could look at things like that and go: animals, wolves.. foxes, it might be part of the fandom!  But it is fun to think 'what if'

ive noticved something about people that have alot of plushies, you can tell by those rabbits,.. thier just not cute enough to be inspired for a furry person to have baught em, my mom had alot of rabbit stuffed animals most of which were dull like those.  I see furs with cute, fuzzy cuddly plushies.  and especially not generic teddybears, never seen a fur holding onto one of those as of yet.

I have that exact same calender. O_o

I couldnt say much for my home growing up since I moved a while ago. I heard that moms do have a tendency to decorate with such items and call it cute, wouldnt know first hand.
But I will say my dad decorated our flat with his guitars and pictures from his glory days and I dont play guitar, just got an amazing sense of rythm. That kind of discredits that theory I think.

Well, this is certainly odd. I have only associated directly with this fursona for a couple months but.....
My mom is totally flat out obsessed with polar bears!
My mom doesn't know i am a furry, let alone that i unconsiously picked her favorite animal.
My mom collects coca cola bears, pictures of polar bears, plushies, (some are also anthro), and watches anything that shows polar bears.
This is the strongest case i've seen for parental influence...How weird! I never even thought of it... except that i know everything there is to know about polar bears(which is somewhat true with every other animal.)

My sister is a dog fanatic.
She subscribes to magazines, watches Animal Planet all the time, and used to cut out dog pictures from magazines and collect them in a tupperware container. She may even still be doing this, I don't know. I always thought that was a bit creepy.

But she's not a furry. Not all animal lovers are furry.
