IRL, this is gonna blow everyone away.
« on: January 28, 2006, 11:29:18 pm »
I was asked if I would wear a tail, collar, or entire fursuit, and my response was "only if my girlfriend wanted me to". Weell, of course, my girlfriend was online at the time of this, so I brought it up with her. Considering shes not even furry, she was all for the idea, *chuckles* I told her I would so wear a collar for her in a heartbeat, and well, now Im out to find one, *laughs foolishly*

Where, oh where, could i possibly find a collar that would suit me? Any ideas and suggestions?

Keeping in mind, Im the good natured christian boy whos never gone to any major extents to make a fool of myself in any way, this is gonna be fun!

Any major pet chain.  don't be afraid to ask for a catalog and do a special order.  and measure ahead of time!

Actually biker stores and such places as Hot Topic carry collars for adults.  And I know several christians who enjoy wearing them.  In fact, collars are one of the key things that will not immediately put you into the 'furry' class.  Many into bondage, slavery fantasies, and master/pet relationships use them.

And, yes.  If you are going to a pet store measure first.  Trying on collars in such a place will look a bit silly.

Hahahahaa, a bit silly indeed. XD

Hmm, not so sure I want to be generalized as being into the whole bondage or master/slave thing, but hey, I know what its for. ^^

I got mine at pet supplies plus.  There's alot of major pet store chains out there though.  As was said before, measure ahead of time, and keep the reciept if you don't try it on before hand.  You'll want to get one that's comfortable if you plan on wearing it more than once or twice.  I'd suggest getting a leather collar, since they' break in nicely.

Places like Hot Topic will have a limited selection of collars, if you want to get something that isn't as obvious as a pet collar... I personally prefer the regular pet collars ':p'

I got mine at Petsmart. But, as it has been said, measure before hand. I made the mistaking of going without measuring. Although, I pulled off just quickly bringing it to my neck and back down. XD I imagine I still looked like an idiot.

Aw, but that's the best part! '<img'> Measure or no, you may need to try a few on anyway to get a feel for thickness, texture, or how it will hang. Although I may add that it's useful to bring along a small mirror so you can see if you like how it looks on you.  Or bring your girl along for commentary!

I actually found a really cool collar at a pet store in the mall. It was just a normal collar, but it had small metal paw print like studs on it! It was awesome. I might go back and buy it.

you have me to thank for that

anyway im guessing it would depend on what kind of collar you were looking for, i was thinking about getting a collar one day, not sure though, ill wait for my tail first and go from there, anyway yeah i would say try pet shops, markets, there would be a few places you could look, im sure ull find one that suits you
and as for measuring first you dont need to do that its all the more fun plus the fact if you plan to wear it around anyway what difference does it make if people see you trying it on '<img'>

At Petsmart I saw a thin, leopard print dog collar that looked the right size...so tempted.  But I would have to go without my parents.  ''

depending on the type of collor. if you want one thats for an actualy animal I say hit a pet supply store or a place online like petco.com(i think thats their site name)

if you want something more human, the onse at hot topic would work. I would help you with a bit more on the subject of onse made for humans.. but I dunno if your 18.
so if you are and want some good links to sites that have pretty collors let me know.

*shakes head* No, I didnt think it'd mean a penny on here, honestly. Its if you knew me in person that it'd be a bit shocking. Im not trying to be furry "like everyone else" Im just modifying who I consider me to be, thats all. And in getting the collar, the statement is not so much that Im furry, but that Im foolishly (but happily) devoted to my girlfriend.

Hmm, you'll have to give me a bit Mazz, Ive got a few months to go before Im 18, but I dont really want to look into anything that would insist upon age qualification anyways. Dont need anything too fancy, just something comfortable, not too obnoxious, (asthetically and physically), and the likes.

I dont get to get out much and browse the local pet stores, is another thing, and I dont even know what Im looking for yet.
I dont have a single track mind! Ive only got one train of thought. -.-;

I picked my collar up at a petshop in the mall near where I live. but of course later that night I just had to get a leash to go with it, while I was waiting for the movie to start that i was going to watch with my roommate.

Though wearing a fursuit in public... I would prolly do that. even without my mate asking me too. I am just weird like that. I just need to get a fursuit first ':p'

Bah, just go for a regular animal collar, less expensive and less conspicious (by that i mean less conspicous to buy), And yeah mesuer first, but i think the average length for a collar thats abile to fit on a person is 16 inches. However, i myself, do not like collars too much.
Just make shure its cheap so that if you dont like it (uncomfortable, looks bad, ect) you have not wasted much money if you loose the recipt. However, if you must try it on go to somewhere they have dresing rooms (taget, or if you absolutely must, walmart [yeek, death to walmart] ) and nonchalauntly take it with you with a few cloths, and there you go you can easily see how it looks '<img'>.
