My furst collar
« on: February 19, 2006, 09:36:29 pm »
So i've been contemplating it for a while, and today I finally went out and bought my furst collar! My parents didn't know what I was going out for, so they were surprised when I came back. I furst checked a PETsMART and tried on a few there but couldn't find one I liked, so I went to a mall and check the animal store there. No luck again so on my way back home, feeling defeated I passed by another PETsMART and decided to give it one more try. It was kinda awkward trying the collars on in this store, because was a couple on the same aisle i was on, a family with a kid, and another couple looking at collars also. But I finally got over the awkwardness and started trying them on and found the one for me!
When I got home, tI was wearing my collar and the conversation with my dad goes thus:

Dad: "oh, is that for the dog?"
Me: "no, it's uhm...for me"
Dad: stares and raises his eyebrow until I slink out of the room

My mom was better about it, all I had to do was remind her about the crazy things she used to wear when she was in highschool and she was like, "well now that I think about it, kids used to wear collars when I was in school."
So my mom is fine with it, but my dad is still irked.

Fwaa, congrats. ^^

I've been wearing a collar around since around last Christmas, when Dad bought the dog a new collar. The old one, brown leather with a ring in the middle for tags and a place to clip a leash on, was just sitting around, along with some old rabies vaccination tags.
I seized the day and spent an hour whittling a new hole in it, since the dogs neck is  bit bigger than mine :P I wear it EVERYWHERE with the rabies tags; I'm hoping I can get a little bone shaped tag with my name on it to go with it ^^

The first public place I wore my collar was to Barnes & Noble. I just walked in, grabbed a Japanese manga, and sat down to read. I got a few looks, but most people looked to be accepting.

Hehehe, and I was there with you!

^^ Lovely collar Wolfeg! I love it! I have a round tag for mine as well, I just didn't have it in the pictures i took.

I wear it all the time except the shower and work. Mainly cause my dad is still a bit off about it and i don't want it to get all dirty. I work around alot of chemicals and things in the air.

I don't know what's wrong with the pictures, they work for me.....
I think I know what's going on, and i've fixed the earlier posts, so tell me if you can see them now. If not, i've got one more trick to try before I slam my head against my keyboard.

The only collar I have is like the one depicted in my avatar, but itís a ďhumanĒ collar more of a punk/goth thing so yea, people donít care, and my sister bought it for me and my mom? Oddly enough she wanted to take it from me and wear it her self.

I think Iíd be to much of a wuss to wear a dog collar in public, *laughs*

awww, it looks really cute on you.  nice pics.

and all in all, it seems your parents took it well.  I'm still too scared to wear my collar in front of my parents.

I pretty much only wear it when i'm getting yiffy with someone, which sadly has only been once since getting it

The collars look great on both of you! '<img'>

I guess it's really your own choice, but I don't think most people genrally go "OHMIGODDD A FURRIIEEE LYNCH THEM!!1!!" if you wear the collar out in public. Gothy/emo/punkish kids around hear wear collars alot, so I think the public around here has gotten used to it ^___^

Well I went into town today for a couple of hours wearing my collar. It wasn't *that* visible cos I was wearing a jacket, but I felt quite fine wearing it out and about  '<img'>

I've noticed that I rarely ever get any looks from passing people. Only people that know me at school. Like, not even other students i've never met before. I never get looks from them. I've only gotten asked about if from people in my classes and teachers. Luckily, non of them were bad comments. One teacher just said whatever floats your boat. ^^

I have three collars. One I got from Pet-co for HeX, my LARP Harpy character. Its a beautiful maroon leather with studds in it, so I ware it when I'm feeling a little bit harpy-ish ^_-
The other one is a simple string with a bell. Not a collar per-say, but the bell is from my First rattie (GusGus) who died on Halloween last year. I was so heart broken I had to keep it, and keep it on me always.
And the last is a chrome silver slave collar....no comment...*brux*

I've been looking for a collar I like, but unfortunately, the closest thing we have to a pet store around here is the pets department at Wal-Mart '<img'>

There's supposed to be one coming up soon, so that'd be good!
